The lodges themselves are real log lodges, ideally suited for romantic breaks or special occasions or even just quality family time.

The Sweethope Lodge sleeps 6 and has a family bathroom with rainforest shower. The open plan living area is also ideal for families and of course the outdoor decking area, lake views and hot tub add an extra element of luxury to your stay. The Bolam Lodge is similar offering quality and luxury for both families and couples.

Cragside House and Gardens - NE65 7PX

Cragside House and Gardens (National Trust) are a popular Northumberland attraction with a beautiful stately home and gorgeous grounds to explore. The rhododendron labyrinth is a unique and fun addition to the grounds and there is also an adventure playground where children can let of steam. It is the stunning scenery that attracts most of the visitors though with many bringing a picnic for a relaxing family day out. The house itself hosts exhibits which change regularly. Some of the highlights of the day might include watching a Falcon stoop down from the skies at over 100mph and admiring the grace of the Eagles, Kites and Hawks.

With easy access from the A1 this lovely farm just north of Berwick makes a fantastic family day out. Follow the farm trail and meet an array of friendly farm animals. Kids will also enjoy the indoor and outdoor play areas, pet barn and tractor circuit. The admission fee is excellent value and you will get a free bag of food for the animals and a bag of fish food for the trouts in the fish pond. When you want a bite to eat, the licensed restaurant is the place to go with quality home cooking and a charming location in some of the converted farm buildings.
