Excellent facilities, luxury accommodation and 100 acres of beautiful Suffolk countryside – just a few reasons why we love High Lodge in Darsham. There’s a 9 hole golf course, a well stocked fishing lake – and the gorgeous beaches of Dunwich and Southwold are just a few miles away. Cycling, walking and the beautiful gardens at Bressingham and Ipswich will make this holiday one to remember!

As well as golf and coarse fishing, you can try your hand at clay pigeon shooting – there’s expert tuition available if you want it. The clubhouse and bar both serve a good variety of food and the surrounding towns and villages have an excellent choice of pubs and restaurants. We love the Lady Florence River Cruise Restaurant which sets sail from Orford for a cruise, while you enjoy either a champagne brunch or a delicious dinner.

Many of the lodges have their own hot tubs on private, furnished verandahs. Swift Lodge VIP 4 is brand new for 2012 and sleeps four people in a double bedroom and a twin. It has a flat screen TV, a DVD player and even an iPod docking station. You can take in the beautiful views across the lakes from the privacy of your own hot tub!

Suffolk is full of visitor attractions and the perfect choice (in our opinion) for a holiday. The town of Snape Maltings is a great place to visit with its interesting, independent shops and the farmers’ markets - and of course, Great Yarmouth is a bustling seaside town with lots going on. The pier is now used for regular entertainment, including stand up comedy and live music.

really nice lodge, spacious, after the first 10mins of arriving i walked in to the lodge and opened up the doors to look at the lake, the fell down the stairs, after close inspection the top step it protrudes to far and makes you first step down short,<try it>which is why i fell,
i haven't got any other problems other wise a great weekend

The lodge was immaculate and easy to keep that way. The setting was lovely. The sun comes in the bedroom in the morning and sets over the pond at night. The ducks wander up and down the verandah. I did not use any equipment much except the toaster, hair dryer, kettle and fridge as I was there for some silence so can't comment further on TVs etc except that there was one in the bedroom and the lounge which looked a cut above the average. There was a helpful member of staff there who I really appreciated who was assigned to look after the lodges. Very happy with the lodge in particular.

We have stayed at High Lodge for at least six years on the trot now-look forward to a peaceful spring break. Great if you like shooting fishing or golf but also great if you just want a quiet relaxing holiday. Lots of places to visit a short distance away although a car is essential. We will be going again next year.
Jason
Second stay at highlodge now and maybe a little discount will be nice for the next stay

This was our second visit to this lodge and still does not disappoint. The location on the side of the A12 is very convenient for access but no road noise is heard. The position of the lodge on the lake side is glorious with many species of wild bird to watch. We wil certainly visit again and have already recommended this site to our friends.

Fun Days Out near High Lodge

Africa Alive - about 11 Miles
Africa Alive is one of Suffolk's largest attractions and one of the most popular in the whole of the UK.  The Africa themed park is very unique and gives visitors the chance to see some amazing creatures in a habitat which is as close to nature as possible. The park can be explored by car and on foot and Hyenas and Giraffes are just some of the animals you will encounter as you make your way around the park. Watch out for the lightning fast Cheetahs and keep your eyes peeled to spot the more reclusive creatures. During a day at Africa Alive there will be plenty of shows and educational talks taking place and if the weather turns then the indoor Adventure Play Ground comes in very handy. The site also has a well stocked Gift Shop and a Discovery Centre.
Pleasurewood Hills Theme Park is an amazing 50 acres area of stunning coastal parkland and is packed with family friendly rides and attractions. This park is an excellent choice for families with children of varied ages as there are a number of small rides for the little ones as well as some adrenaline boosting white knuckle rides for teenagers. As well as rides the site hosts some fantastic shows including the ever popular Sea Lion and Parrot encounters. At Halloween, Christmas and Easter other themed shows can also be enjoyed.  The site also has a good range of places to eat and drink whether you are looking to spend a leisurely hour relaxing with a meal or just grab a quick snack.
Suffolk Owl Sanctuary - about 18 Miles
This amazing owl sanctuary located in the Stowmarket area of Suffolk should be high on your list of places to visit in the area.  The attraction is also a registered charity and carries out important work in the care & rehabilitation of owls from the region.  The sanctuary also raises awareness of owl conservation throughout the UK.  Between April and the end of September there are two superb flying displays each day so you should try and make your visit coincide with one of these displays if you can.
