Excellent facilities, luxury accommodation and 100 acres of beautiful Suffolk countryside – just a few reasons why we love High Lodge in Darsham. There’s a 9 hole golf course, a well stocked fishing lake – and the gorgeous beaches of Dunwich and Southwold are just a few miles away. Cycling, walking and the beautiful gardens at Bressingham and Ipswich will make this holiday one to remember!
As well as golf and coarse fishing, you can try your hand at clay pigeon shooting – there’s expert tuition available if you want it. The clubhouse and bar both serve a good variety of food and the surrounding towns and villages have an excellent choice of pubs and restaurants. We love the Lady Florence River Cruise Restaurant which sets sail from Orford for a cruise, while you enjoy either a champagne brunch or a delicious dinner.
Many of the lodges have their own hot tubs on private, furnished verandahs. Swift Lodge VIP 4 is brand new for 2012 and sleeps four people in a double bedroom and a twin. It has a flat screen TV, a DVD player and even an iPod docking station. You can take in the beautiful views across the lakes from the privacy of your own hot tub!
Suffolk is full of visitor attractions and the perfect choice (in our opinion) for a holiday. The town of Snape Maltings is a great place to visit with its interesting, independent shops and the farmers’ markets - and of course, Great Yarmouth is a bustling seaside town with lots going on. The pier is now used for regular entertainment, including stand up comedy and live music.

Lovely cabin. Clean and comfortable. Only comment I would make is lack of sponge/scourer (very petty I know) but don't see the point of using a dishwasher when there is only two of you. Usually bring that sort of thing myself but forgot this time.
Can't wait to go back
Loved it, slightly dubious when booking but once there absolutely delighted
A fantastic week away, highly recommended.

Looking forward to another visit in September, why go anywhere else
With a beautiful view the Lodge was an excellent place for relaxing.
Unfortunately, we were plagued with flies, which appeared resistant to the Fly spray!!!
However, after purchasing a fly squatter we became adept at reducing their number!
Greenfinch was our happy home for a week. Comfy and very roomy.
Lodges are great they have everything you need for a stress-free holiday

Great time, fantastic wildlife and scenery, lovely lake and lodge.
Peaceful and relaxing location. Lots of things to do without having to travel too far.
A very well equipped and spacious lodge in a relaxing and picturesque setting. Our only slight complaint would be that the bedrooms are a bit small and storage is impractical.
Quiet and peaceful, but near enough to towns for eating out. Lodge facilities very good - particularly liked the hot tub!
Brilliant time, already booked for May 2018
Lodge and setting amazing.
It was a pity that to use any of the activities we had to pay extra e.g. foot golf, daily fishing charge.
Absolutely fantastic place, the lodge was spacious and spotlessly clean. One of the best shirt breaks in the UK we have ever had as a family of five.
It was a beautiful lodge decorated to a high standard. All kitchen equipment was spotless. Bathrooms very hygienic and clean. Gorgeous and peaceful location. Hot tub was also clean and was a nice additional touch.
Overall I would definitely recommend and come back.
a little put off with a £25 surcharge to gain access before 1530 hrs
Lovely lodge in a beautiful peaceful setting. Having a hot tube was really nice to relax in.
Africa Alive is one of Suffolk's largest attractions and one of the most popular in the whole of the UK. The Africa themed park is very unique and gives visitors the chance to see some amazing creatures in a habitat which is as close to nature as possible. The park can be explored by car and on foot and Hyenas and Giraffes are just some of the animals you will encounter as you make your way around the park. Watch out for the lightning fast Cheetahs and keep your eyes peeled to spot the more reclusive creatures. During a day at Africa Alive there will be plenty of shows and educational talks taking place and if the weather turns then the indoor Adventure Play Ground comes in very handy. The site also has a well stocked Gift Shop and a Discovery Centre.
Pleasurewood Hills Theme Park is an amazing 50 acres area of stunning coastal parkland and is packed with family friendly rides and attractions. This park is an excellent choice for families with children of varied ages as there are a number of small rides for the little ones as well as some adrenaline boosting white knuckle rides for teenagers. As well as rides the site hosts some fantastic shows including the ever popular Sea Lion and Parrot encounters. At Halloween, Christmas and Easter other themed shows can also be enjoyed. The site also has a good range of places to eat and drink whether you are looking to spend a leisurely hour relaxing with a meal or just grab a quick snack.
This amazing owl sanctuary located in the Stowmarket area of Suffolk should be high on your list of places to visit in the area. The attraction is also a registered charity and carries out important work in the care & rehabilitation of owls from the region. The sanctuary also raises awareness of owl conservation throughout the UK. Between April and the end of September there are two superb flying displays each day so you should try and make your visit coincide with one of these displays if you can.
