Avon Wood is a small and peaceful park offering the perfect setting for a relaxing or romantic holiday. The location is simply stunning and the lodges are nestled deep within natural woodland. Just a short downhill stroll will bring you to the shores of the beautiful Lake Windermere where there are boat launching facilities. Although the lodges feel very secluded they are not too isolated and the lively village of Bowness is just 5 miles away. Avon Wood is an ideal base for touring the National Park, visiting stately homes and shopping in market towns. There is also an on site Launderette.

Loved every minute, thank you : )
The lodge was well equipped and pleasant to live in . The view was OK but could be improved with some gentle pruning/pollarding of the trees that shielded part of the lake view.

The Retreat Lodge is 5 star all round. Been going to the Lake District for the last 22 years and is one of the best Lodges we have stayed in. Great hot tub with lovely views of lake windermere. Would definitely book again
Me and my fiancee. Absolutely loved the conniston lodge. Immaculate condition. All the equipment you will need and the bottle of fizz and chocolate were a lovely touch. The view of windermere was fabulous as was the weather. And the hot tub was amazing. Already booked for next year.
Beautiful place and fantastic environment. Would highly recommend and will be returning!

Beautifully sited lodge with stunning views over Lake Windermere that can be appreciated from the luxury of the hot tub. The lodge is stylish, comfortable and very well equipped with all that you could need. It is so spacious there is one bathroom with shower and a larger bathroom with a luxurious free-standing bath. The bedroom has an adjoining dressing room as well. We will definitely return.

Brilliant as usual!
I have been to Avon Wood many times and will hopefully go back again and again
the site is wonderful, the caravans and site are spotlessly clean and well maintained, the customer care one gets from Andrew and indeed all the workers around the site is perfect
Beautiful site and roomy, clean caravan. I liked that the caravans are mostly very private, not overlooked at all. The only downside for us was that it was a very steep site for walking about and being over 70 and hubby nearly 80, meant that it was car or nothing for him, I did manage down to the landing stage a few times.
Wonderful place to stay - a lovely, quiet holiday park with lots to do in the area. Before we arrived I had a couple of questions and the owners were incredibly helpful. The lodge was extremely comfortable, clean and equipped with everything we needed for a self- catered holiday. Our lodge (Blakeholme) had a deck where you could see the lake through the trees and was a lovely place to sit. All the lodges were surrounded by hedges so you had your own area that was quite private. Thoroughly recommended!
Had a lovely week weather was fantastic! Caravan was lovely spotlessly clean and in a lovely spot. Avon Wood site is a delight. Will definitely go again.
The lodge was in a perfect position with lovely views of Lake windermere and beyond. The staff where helpful not that we had any issues.the lodge was clean and private. Have booked again for next year.
Once again a very enjoyable holiday, because of the high standard of the accomodation and surrounding. Also the pleasant attitude of the owners of the park.
Very nice peaceful place to stay very roomy lodge would stay here again

Here at the Wildlife Oasis you can really get up close to the animals and experience a mix of exotic wildlife and hand son displays. See butterflies, birds and even bats flying around. You don't have to plan your visit according to weather either with the tropical hall and butterfly house undercover. Sunny days are ideal for some of the inhabitants however with the monkeys and Lemurs loving to sunbathe. The mission of Lakeland's Wildlife Oasis is to engender and foster an interest and appreciation of the natural world which, in our belief underpins wildlife conservation; and, where possible to contribute and encourage contribution to the conservation of wildlife and wild places. You know that you are helping with this mission if you choose to visit.
Located in the Milnthorpe area of Cumbria we love this local attraction. With an eclectic mix of fascinating wildlife and hands on displays this centre is educational as well as fun. You can wander around at leisure admiring the exhibits which range from chameleons to computers. Some of the most threatened species are kept at the park as part if international breeding programmes. Check out their website for the latest opening times and admission costs which are great value for money. There are discounts for pre-booked parties of 12 or more.
Rydal Mount & Gardens are wonderfully situated between Lake Windermere and Rydal Water offering breathtaking scenery. The home of William Wordsworth from 1813 - 1850 the grand home is now lived in by the poets descendents but parts of the house and grounds are open to the public. Why not take a guided tour and see the rooms where many of the famous poems were written. The gardens are beautiful at all times of the year but in the summer offer a spectacular display of colour. There is also a gallery and a tearoom. Discounts are available for group bookings.
This is an amazing Cumbria attraction well known locally as well as nationally for how close you can get to the animals. Described as the most interactive animal park in Europe it's well worth a visit if you are staying in the area. Open from April to end October some of the highlights are the tigers, penguins, bears, hippos and rhinos. At 2pm during certain seasons it's feeding time so don't forget to plan your day around this so you can watch the animals enjoying their feed. Look out for seasonal events such as Halloween Zoo Boo (free entry for kids in fancy dress) and The Magic of Christmas.
