A fantastic place to spend a weekend . Beautiful area ,lovely scenery . The lodge itself ( we stayed in the Bradbury) was amazing boasting a jacuzzi bath ,private hot tub and its own steam roam . The lodge was tastefully decorated to a high standard with every thing we needed even a telescope to do a bit of star gazing ,which we were able to do on the Sunday night . Will definitely return

Very modern lodge with everything you could ever need for a break. The hot tub was great once we got it up to temperature on Saturday evening - that was the only disappointing thing - that we lost the first day's use of the hot tub.

Views amazing, stars incredible, hot tub so luxurious. We all loved the little added extras, the kitchen was great and had everything we needed and the ensuite bathroom with steam room was incredible. Our little one loved watching tv while in the bath. Would highly recommend to anyone wanting a peaceful break away in tranquil surroundings but with all the gadgets to keep you and the kids occupied. Can't wait to go back again!

This is the most amazing lodge. Well worth the money. The only issue we have with this lodge is the log burning hot tub. It took most of Saturday to burn logs and heat it. I do think that the hot tub should be ready on Friday for the guests arrival. This is the only reason we have second thoughts about returning to this lodge.

Was amazed with the lodge upon arrival. it was well equipped couldn't have ask for anything more. only downside: few problems with underfloor heating. Also was kept awake by humming noise from ceiling in bedroom, sounded like extractor fans.

Excellent accommodation and perfectly sited in the Forrest. Quite and peaceful an ideal space for the whole family. We will definitely return to Straker Lodge ✅✅✅
Vanessa
Excellent, we look forward to going again.

Absolutely stunning lodge - complete luxury with everything you could want from a holiday lodge. Not ideally suited to tiny children though: lodge sits perched on the very top of a steep bank so we couldn't let our toddler run around outside unsupervised. Also very little for a toddler to do in the area, particularly with poor weather. Playground very small but swimming pool really good. Useful baby equipment in the chalet but it would have been useful to know what was there before hand as I ended up taking lots myself! Overall, recommended, but I wouldn't go back until the little one is a bit bigger. However for grown-ups: pure tranquility

Fantastic holiday. Can't wait to go back. Would definitely recommend it.

Fabulous stay at Straker Lodge. It snowed the day we were going so we weren't sure if we'd get there but we managed and the lodges looked great in the snow! We booked the hydrotherapy pool for an hour which our baby loved! Lots of wildlife around including a very friendly fox, robins, rabbits etc! Love the area and can't wait to return!
Neil
I would have liked to have been offered activities for for my children when we arrived.
Chris
Impressive lodge with some pretty cool features which we all enjoyed. Stunning views and very peaceful even though very close to amenities. Highly impressed with Calvert Trust staff and organisation of activities. Would highly recommend.
John
Absolutely brilliant, the Straker has an almost magical feel to it...so much so we have now been 4 times

Fun Days Out near Straker Lodges

Housing the most fascinating collection of Birds of Prey in the North East this centre is definitely worth a visit if you are staying in the Kielder Water area. Located in Falstone it's easy to get to and makes a great day out for both families and couples.  As well as seeing the amazing birds you can learn all about the captive breeding programme and the excellent work being done there.  Some of the highlights of the day might include watching a Falcon stoop down from the skies at over 100mph and admiring the grace of the Eagles, Kites and Hawks.
