Pickering Lodges are just 30 minutes from the historic city of York and on the edge of the quiet market town of Pickering.  The location of these lodges for exploring the local area is ideal.  The North York Moors are easily accessible as well as the seaside towns Whitby and Scarborough.

The lodges themselves are beautiful with stylish interiors and plenty of space.  The decking areas are also well proportioned with stunning views of the surrounding countryside.

Grosmont Lodge is a good choice for couples with modern living area, lake view and outdoor hot tub.  The Newton Dale Lodge is excellent for families with three bedrooms and open plan living - also with a lakeside view.

Families will love Flamingo Land just 2 miles from Pickering Lodges, with a huge range of rides and even a zoo. If you like gardens then take a trip to Sledmere House around 13 miles away with award winning gardens to admire.

Clean and comfortable. We prefer a shower to a bath so this was our only issue but it is also a matter of personal choice.

If I'm being really picky the shower screen seal needed replacing or a deep clean as it had some mould. But you know the pluses far out weighed this.

This is the second time that we have stayed at Pickering Lodges. The atmosphere here by the lake is very peaceful and relaxing. The lodges was very clean and comfortable and supplied with everything that we needed. The hot tub was great and we used it at least once every day, sometimes twice! The area is good with lots to see and do. We particularly enjoyed our visit to Nunnington Hall and the gardens there, a great day out.
Mike
Splendid position and excellent food.

We had a wonderful few days at Pickering Lodges, the weather was incredible - warm and sunny all week. The lodge was clean and reasonably well equipped (some things were needed to be replaced but that was going to be seen to). The site is very convenient and quiet and well managed.
Aimee

Lovely area and lodge with helpful staff. A bigger park or something else for the kids to do on site would have been nice but would still happily come back. All in all a great holiday we all enjoyed.

Fun Days Out near Pickering Lodges

Flamingo Land - about 1 Mile
Situated in Malton in North Yorkshire this has to be one of our favourite family days out.  It's a theme park and zoo all in one stretching over a massive 400 acres. With thrilling rides for the very daring like Cliff Hanger, Corkscrew and Kumali, there are also more gentle rides for the little ones such as Frog Hopper and Helitoys.  Family fun attractions include the 4D cinema, the lost river ride and the Little Monsters Den of Mischief. Check out their website for seasonal events which take place throughout the year and you can also gain more information about the zoo.  Flamingo Land is a resort as well as a theme park so you can also book accommodation there.
Castle Howard - about 8 Miles
Castle Howard is one of the regions most beautiful and historic landmarks and is located in 1,000 acres of parkland with breathtaking gardens to explore. As well as exploring the castle visitors can enjoy attractios including the unique Land Train - the best way to see the entire park. There is also a large lake offering boat trips during the summer months. In high season the site is very popular with families and offers organised activities for children including tours, talks, crafting and animal encounters. The site also has a Nature Trail which is fun for the whole family and an Adventure Playground where children can run off some energy.
Yorkshire Lavender - about 11 Miles
Yorkshire Lavender is an amazing award winning attraction offering breathtaking panoramic views of York, a Café, Plant Nursery and Lavender Gardens. The 60 acre site is set in an area of outstanding natural beauty and is an excellent choice for a day trip. The onsite shops sells Lavender products such as bath and body treats, skincare, medicine and herbal remedies.
Betton Farm Visitor Centre is the ideal attraction close to the North Yorkshire coastal town of Scarborough. This animal farm has all the cute farm animals you would expect to see and will appeal to younger children especially.  A great place to both play and learn we think the Betton Farm Visitor centre is great value for money.  Check out their website for the latest opening times and admission costs.  Some of the highlights of the day might include meeting Sofie the Shetland Pony and Henry the goat, as well as the pot bellied pigs called Porky and Hammy.
