These luxury lodges were brand new in 2009 and are ideal for those seeking a break away in a relaxed and picturesque environment. The park has a wonderful location just a short drive from the bustling market town of Thirsk and the historic city of York is also close by.

As the name would suggest the lodges have been designed around impressive and well stocked fishing lakes catering for all ages and abilities. The park also has a superb new contemporary bar and restaurant which also offers occasional weekend light entertainment. The food served in the restaurant is modern and fresh with local produce featuring strongly.

There is also plenty to see and do in the local area with cathedral cities of York and Ripon both within easy reach. If its a day on the coast you're looking for then the popular resorts of Scarborough and Whitby can be reached in just over an hour taking in some of the most breathtaking scenery and picture postcard villages en route.

The Yorkshire moors and dales can also be reached in under and hour and offer the perfect environment for enjoying outdoor pursuits. Watersports, climbing and gliding are available as well as the more traditional walking and cycling.

There are four types of lodge to choose from at Woodland Lakes. All were brand new in 2009 and are very well equipped with everything you need for a self catering holiday. The Chestnut Lodge is a good choice for a romantic break and has one bedroom and an outdoor hot tub. The Birch Lodge is larger and perfect for families sleeping up to 6. The lodge has two storeys making it very spacious and it also has a balcony where you can enjoy stunning views and a hot tub. The Poplar lodge is also two storey and very contemporary in design. It sleeps up to 4 people and has an outside furnished area with hot tub.

Woodland Lakes Lodges Reviews

Woodland Lakes Lodges are in a good place if you want to do some siteseeing in yorkshire. The park itself was really peaceful, no kids running around or noisy groups when we were there. seemed to be mostly couples or small families with babies. People there just to relax. The bar on the park serves the most amazing food and the service was good but not in your face. Our lodge had smashing views over the woods and was very modern with a better kitchen than i have at home.

The fridge needs replacing in 11b ,as freezers freezes fridge food .and as self catering you need a good fridge.also cooker needs to have institutions as was very competitive. But the staff showded us how to use it and we figgered it out.but overall lodge was good clean and what you needed for your stay .

The only downside was, no instructions on how to work the cooker/microwave was a bit baffled as the sun was shining straight through door onto cooker panel, other than that it was brill.

Lodge very clean inside and located over looking the lake! Perfect. Only down fall was the outside could have been cleaned down from time to time as around the windows, doors and spindles on the balcony had a lot of spiders and webs.

Great Weekend away with the family and our two dogs!

Lodge was immaculate, plenty of room for us all & a 5 minute drive into Thirsk.

The only negative was that the site was not very dog friendly. The decking area was not closed off by a gate so we were unable to let them out onto the decking when we were in the hot tub. There wasn't anywhere to let them have a run so we had to keep them on their leads all weekend. Also the restaurant was not dog friendly so we were unable to visit. We did ask at reception if there was a field where we could take the dogs and she suggested the farmers field next to the site but said her dog was bitten by a tick in the field so we didn't want to risk it!

A lovely lodge just wouldn't come back with our dogs.

Susan

Tylar
Visit regularly we enjoy it so much lovely surrounding area shoetbdrive from York centre. Only complaint this time round was the onsite restaurant has changed and got a new menu and in our opinion wasn't as nice as in the past.
Paula
Had a lovely stay, noisy and inconsiderate neighbours arrived weds night.
Terence
Lodges were spotless clean, staff very helpful ,restaurant staff friendly and helpful, food was nice and value for money, location of site was good near to lots of places to see. The only thing that we could suggest to make anything better would be a bit more privacy around the hot tubs. People walking or driving past could see you in them. We had a great weekend and will be visiting again soonh

Fun Days Out near Woodland Lakes Lodges

Lightwater Valley - about 7 Miles
Situated in the Ripon area of North Yorkshire this popular theme park makes a fantastic day out for the whole family.  The more daring will love the big and thrilling rides such as Raptor Attack, The Ultimate and Trauma Tower.  For the little ones there are some excellent attractions such as Flying Camels, Dodgems and a Magic Wheel.  Toddlers will like the Dragon Boats and the Lightwater Express amongst other things. There are over 40 rides and attractions in total and we think this is excellent value for money too.  If you book your tickets in advance online you can save even more money and beat the queues.
Big Sheep - about 8 Miles
This is a recommended day out for families with young children visiting the Bedale area of Yorkshire.  Visit the farm and receive a warm welcome as well as a guided tour.  You will have the chance to bottle feed the lambs, bath a pig and handle some of the smaller animals.  Kids will love the big sandpit and the outdoor play area. There is also a cafe and indoor play area for when the weather is not on your side.
Fountains Abbey - about 10 Miles
This is an outstanding world heritage site located close to Ripon in the North Yorkshire area. Nature lovers will be in their element with an abundance of wide open spaces to explore and there are special guided tours for families.  Some of the highlights may include seeing wild deer and bats during your visit.  The grounds are fantastic to wander round but there is also an Elizabethan Mansion, Victorian Church, Georgian Water Garden and the finest example of Cistercian Abbey ruins in the country - Well worth a visit!
Yorkshire Lavender - about 17 Miles
Yorkshire Lavender is an amazing award winning attraction offering breathtaking panoramic views of York, a Café, Plant Nursery and Lavender Gardens. The 60 acre site is set in an area of outstanding natural beauty and is an excellent choice for a day trip.
