(formerly West Tanfield Lodges)
This is a superb location for exploring the very best that North Yorkshire and the Dales have to offer. Nestling within a beautiful lakeside setting and close to the Pennine Way, Brimham Rocks and the towering 300 foot high Malham Cove, these oh-so-stylish lodges have private decking areas, hot tubs and extremely luxurious interiors. Cedar Retreats (formerly West Tanfield Lodges) are around 15 miles from Harrogate, an elegant town that is home to the stunning ruins of Fountains Abbey and where you’ll find a great walk along the Low Harrogate Spa Trail.
Cedar Retreats (formerly West Tanfield Lodges) are a perfect retreat for couples because of its quiet rural setting and its proximity to the Yorkshire Moors and Dales. There are some beautiful market towns that are well worth visiting; Skipton has one of the most complete and well preserved medieval castles in England with a beautiful Tudor courtyard.
We love Daleside Lodge with its contemporary design and stunning interior. It has a spacious double bedroom with ensuite bathroom and a large twin room. Every detail has been carefully considered for comfort and convenience, such as WiFi access, an iPod docking station, flat screen TV and DVD - and a fully equipped kitchen with dishwasher, washing machine and tumble dryer. And of course, it has its own private deck with patio furniture and outdoor hot tub with beautiful views across the lake.
The Yorkshire Dales is renowned for its amazing landscape, classic walks and delightful towns. Bolton Abbey in Skipton has around 30,000 acres of beautiful countryside with 80 miles of footpaths as well as excellent restaurants, tea rooms and cafes. If you fancy a thrill, visit Lightwater Valley Theme Park with its line-up of white-knuckle rides and Europe’s longest rollercoaster - or you could opt for some serious pampering at the Victorian Turkish Baths in Harrogate.

We had a fantastic short break at Cedar Retreats. Location and lodge were fantastic - really lovely park, plenty of space but feeling friendly. Local walks and village pub equally as good. Thoroughly enjoyable.
North Yorkshire was full of surprises with lots of things to do. Cedar Retreats whilst not particularly near anywhere of interest was a good central location from which to explore the area. The lodge was fantastic, the best we have stayed in.
lovely few days away with friend-we paid for early check in and the hot tub wasnt anywhere near its 40 degree heat-so we waited a few hours like we were informed-still no where near-we eventually got in it at 9pm that night-still not near temp but its what we had paid to use-very disapointed.
perfect time away apart from that.
The lodge was perfect, the site was quiet and in an excellent location for exploring the dales and moors. The staff were really helpful.
We are looking forward to returning to Cedar Retreats in the spring.

Situated in the Ripon area of North Yorkshire this popular theme park makes a fantastic day out for the whole family. The more daring will love the big and thrilling rides such as Raptor Attack, The Ultimate and Trauma Tower. For the little ones there are some excellent attractions such as Flying Camels, Dodgems and a Magic Wheel. Toddlers will like the Dragon Boats and the Lightwater Express amongst other things. There are over 40 rides and attractions in total and we think this is excellent value for money too. If you book your tickets in advance online you can save even more money and beat the queues.
This is a recommended day out for families with young children visiting the Bedale area of Yorkshire. Visit the farm and receive a warm welcome as well as a guided tour. You will have the chance to bottle feed the lambs, bath a pig and handle some of the smaller animals. Kids will love the big sandpit and the outdoor play area. There is also a cafe and indoor play area for when the weather is not on your side.
This is an outstanding world heritage site located close to Ripon in the North Yorkshire area. Nature lovers will be in their element with an abundance of wide open spaces to explore and there are special guided tours for families. Some of the highlights may include seeing wild deer and bats during your visit. The grounds are fantastic to wander round but there is also an Elizabethan Mansion, Victorian Church, Georgian Water Garden and the finest example of Cistercian Abbey ruins in the country - Well worth a visit!
