(formerly West Tanfield Lodges)
This is a superb location for exploring the very best that North Yorkshire and the Dales have to offer. Nestling within a beautiful lakeside setting and close to the Pennine Way, Brimham Rocks and the towering 300 foot high Malham Cove, these oh-so-stylish lodges have private decking areas, hot tubs and extremely luxurious interiors. Cedar Retreats (formerly West Tanfield Lodges) are around 15 miles from Harrogate, an elegant town that is home to the stunning ruins of Fountains Abbey and where you’ll find a great walk along the Low Harrogate Spa Trail.
Cedar Retreats (formerly West Tanfield Lodges) are a perfect retreat for couples because of its quiet rural setting and its proximity to the Yorkshire Moors and Dales. There are some beautiful market towns that are well worth visiting; Skipton has one of the most complete and well preserved medieval castles in England with a beautiful Tudor courtyard.
We love Daleside Lodge with its contemporary design and stunning interior. It has a spacious double bedroom with ensuite bathroom and a large twin room. Every detail has been carefully considered for comfort and convenience, such as WiFi access, an iPod docking station, flat screen TV and DVD - and a fully equipped kitchen with dishwasher, washing machine and tumble dryer. And of course, it has its own private deck with patio furniture and outdoor hot tub with beautiful views across the lake.
The Yorkshire Dales is renowned for its amazing landscape, classic walks and delightful towns. Bolton Abbey in Skipton has around 30,000 acres of beautiful countryside with 80 miles of footpaths as well as excellent restaurants, tea rooms and cafes. If you fancy a thrill, visit Lightwater Valley Theme Park with its line-up of white-knuckle rides and Europe’s longest rollercoaster - or you could opt for some serious pampering at the Victorian Turkish Baths in Harrogate.
Our Top Tip
For a delicious meal out, pop to The Black Lion Bar & Bistro in Thirsk; it’s been rapidly gaining an excellent reputation for its tasty, home made food."

Fantastic lodges would go again
Really enjoyed a relaxing holiday. Our lodge was perfectly sited with the hot tub at the rear, some have theirs at the front with the park road close by (not the best for the shy retiring type).
Visited RHS Harlow Carr and spent a wonderful day in the sunshine.
The lodge was exceptionally clean and welcoming. We loved using the hot tub and the rooms were all comfortable with good facilities - especially the en-suite shower. The children particularly liked having a TV in their rooms and the Wi-fi was a bit hit. The dishwasher was useful and it was good to have a separate utility area.
Absolutely beautiful lodge , so relaxing. The amenities inside Are fantastic! Modern and fast. They've thought of everything to make your stay perfect! The view of the lake is brilliant and they come round every morning to clean the hot tub. We were left alone to just enjoy ourselves. The shops are a few miles out, car is essential but no problem for us whatsoever. We're booking again ASAP.
Was like home to home
Wonderful lodge that was clean and spacious with all the facilities needed.
Beautiful lodge spacious and immaculately clean with everything you needed. The large hot tub was the icing on the cake!
The lodge is well equipped and great for a short break. The hot tub is possibly too hot!

First class lodge - enjoyed the hot tub. The area around is beautiful. We feel
That adding extra lodges will
Excellent lodge best we have stayed in.
We had a short Bank Holiday break.
The location was quiet which is what we liked and there was no central social area (again we something we liked). All in all, we had a great time and would definitely return. We've mentioned the retreat to family and friends all of whom are also very interested in taking a short stay there.
Lodge was great,hottub was brill.
only gripe we have is the booking in time of 4pm..i had asked if we could get in sooner but we couldnt.most of your first day has gone.will look at other holiday lodges to see if a booking in can be any sooner than 4pm.
Beautiful and clean accommodation, staff very friendly and helpful. A lovely holiday, thank you

Situated in the Ripon area of North Yorkshire this popular theme park makes a fantastic day out for the whole family. The more daring will love the big and thrilling rides such as Raptor Attack, The Ultimate and Trauma Tower. For the little ones there are some excellent attractions such as Flying Camels, Dodgems and a Magic Wheel. Toddlers will like the Dragon Boats and the Lightwater Express amongst other things. There are over 40 rides and attractions in total and we think this is excellent value for money too. If you book your tickets in advance online you can save even more money and beat the queues.
This is a recommended day out for families with young children visiting the Bedale area of Yorkshire. Visit the farm and receive a warm welcome as well as a guided tour. You will have the chance to bottle feed the lambs, bath a pig and handle some of the smaller animals. Kids will love the big sandpit and the outdoor play area. There is also a cafe and indoor play area for when the weather is not on your side.
This is an outstanding world heritage site located close to Ripon in the North Yorkshire area. Nature lovers will be in their element with an abundance of wide open spaces to explore and there are special guided tours for families. Some of the highlights may include seeing wild deer and bats during your visit. The grounds are fantastic to wander round but there is also an Elizabethan Mansion, Victorian Church, Georgian Water Garden and the finest example of Cistercian Abbey ruins in the country - Well worth a visit!
