With spectacular views and excellent facilities, Loch Ness Highland Lodges sit right on the shores of stunning Loch Ness in the Scottish Highlands. Inverness is just 20 miles away and it's a great base from which to explore this beautiful region - Fort Augustus and the stunning ruin of Urquhart Castle are both within easy reach.

There's plenty of walking, fishing and boating to be done - with a jetty for canoe and kayak launching, as well as an adventure playground and mountain bike hire. You could take a five mile walk along the Caledonian Canal from Fort Augustus, stopping for a picnic at Kytra Lock. It's a relatively easy walk so ideal for the whole family.

We love The Moorings, a luxurious and modern lodge with amazing views of Loch Ness. It has a spacious open plan living area with a 42" plasma TV and Freesat, a DVD player and surround sound. French doors lead out onto a decking area where you can enjoy a barbecue and a soak in your own private hot tub.

From Invermoriston, a trip to the Isle of Skye will make a wonderful day out, and the beautiful landscape of the Cairngorms National Park sets the scene for hiking, cycling and climbing.

Our Top Tip
"Enjoy quad bike trekking, 4x4 driving, clay pigeon shooting, archery and white water rafting at the Highland Activities centre at Newtonmore."

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the Moorings lodges! The area was so quiet and peaceful. The only bad thing is I felt that 10am was very early for checkout and we couldn't get into the lodge until 4pm so we effectively only had 3 days !

Great place for a quiet break, would have liked some facilities on the site but we knew there weren't any before we went. Would definitely go back for another break.

Our lodge was lovely and modern compared with some of the other lodges we looked at in the area. There was a large decking area with a picnic table for u to sit outside when the weather was nice. Our hot tub wasn't on the decking itself it was located downstairs to the side of the lodge but was fine though (just didn't expect that). I wasn't able to make use of the hot tub as I was pregnant however my partner enjoyed it and it was easy to use. I would defo be taking full advantage if we went back.
David and Fiona who look after you are lovely. We didn't need to really ask them anything as everything was spot on with our lodge.
The lodge itself was lovely and clean and it was nice to have some essentials there too i.e towels, hand soap dispensers, black bin bags, washing up liquid and utensils (as we have been to places like this before and there was nothing at all).
Next time we go we would defo want one of the lodges which face straight onto Loch Ness and possibly one with a hot tub on the deck. However our lodge was ideal size for us (myself, partner and 2 year old son). Also the main bedroom was big enough for his travel cot to fit at the bottom of the bed which was ideal and there was also access to the bathroom from the main bedroom too which was handy (plus we had a second toilet as well separate from the main bathroom and shower). We had a great holiday and would definitely return

A great holiday, staff were really helpful and always available. Accommodation was good and in very good condition, fantastic views of Loch Ness from the hot tub. Pity there are no facilities on site but a great base for touring the area. I would avoid using the local taxi as he charges a fortune.
Anna
Tranquil, beautiful relaxing holiday - teenager bought 3 days x wifi he was happy 😊 wish we could have accessed the water from our lodge/caravan but didn't spoil the break.
Christine
