With spectacular views and excellent facilities, Loch Ness Highland Lodges sit right on the shores of stunning Loch Ness in the Scottish Highlands. Inverness is just 20 miles away and it's a great base from which to explore this beautiful region - Fort Augustus and the stunning ruin of Urquhart Castle are both within easy reach.

There's plenty of walking, fishing and boating to be done - with a jetty for canoe and kayak launching, as well as an adventure playground and mountain bike hire. You could take a five mile walk along the Caledonian Canal from Fort Augustus, stopping for a picnic at Kytra Lock. It's a relatively easy walk so ideal for the whole family.

We love The Moorings, a luxurious and modern lodge with amazing views of Loch Ness. It has a spacious open plan living area with a 42" plasma TV and Freesat, a DVD player and surround sound. French doors lead out onto a decking area where you can enjoy a barbecue and a soak in your own private hot tub.

From Invermoriston, a trip to the Isle of Skye will make a wonderful day out, and the beautiful landscape of the Cairngorms National Park sets the scene for hiking, cycling and climbing.

Our Top Tip
"Enjoy quad bike trekking, 4x4 driving, clay pigeon shooting, archery and white water rafting at the Highland Activities centre at Newtonmore."

Stayed 4 nights in Moorings lodge number3, lodge lovely and warm on cold March evenings. Very relaxing on the banks of Loch Ness. The setting is very remote Fort Augustus is the nearest village about 6 miles south, which has a Londis shop (expensive). For supermarkets it is Inverness or Fort William, about 1 Hour away due to many sets of road works on the A82.
Only down side of the lodge was no televisions in bed rooms plus no hair driers, the television above the bath did'nt work either.

NO 20 was perfectly placed. The rooms are as per caravan standard, so double bed and small singles. Comfy enough, but glad it was two of us in the two bed place for the storage and you'll need to make use of putting luggage and spare clothes if you go in winter under the beds.

Stayed in this Fantastic luxury lodge on the banks of Loch Ness in February, everything you could need was provided to make a home from home, the hot tub is fabulous and immaculate, the site is ideally situated for exploring the highlands by car - we would definitely return
Tyler
AMAZING! Everything from the view to the location, I currently have holiday blues just thinking about it!

Such an idyllic setting in a perfect location. My sister and I took my mum to celebrate her 60th Birthday right when the beast from the east hit. We stayed in The Moorings which was stunning inside and out. It was warm and cosy when outside was freezing. The hot tub was definitely the best feature. Sitting in pure bliss with amazing view when the rest of the country stuck in the snow. The staff were amazing and couldn’t thank them enough. This is the perfect get away for anyone looking for total relaxation although I can imagine in the summer months it would be buzzing with activities on the Loch.
Alison
Brilliant location. The Retreat was a lovely home for a week - it withstood the -11C from the Beast from the East! The central heating kept the place cozy warm and complimented by the fire. The views are amazing whether it's clear or cloudy. The staff are helpful, the laundry on site is well priced. The only thing I can recommend is that there was no local tourism information in the lodge - only in the reception area and the laundry. The black welcome folder is basically a sales brochure. Which while there is a place for it, shouldn't be the only thing available immediately available in the lodges themselves. The folders have plenty of space left in them for a couple of leaflets or at least an A4 sheet to say where all tourism leaflets are situated. The Wifi is outsourced. It only worked on our laptop, and you're meant to be able to use it on one device at a time but that didn't work. For £15 a week was quite expensive. The site staff have nothing to do with it, so shouldn't be reflective on them. The wifi isn't strong enough for streaming. EE have a full 4G signal at the site, so for £12 I got an extra 5GB of data which I could connect my other devices to my phone and could obviously use elsewhere, and bring home with me.
George
Absolute relaxation from start to finish, amazing location, spectacular views, staff on site were great, will be returning very soon
