With spectacular views and excellent facilities, Loch Ness Highland Lodges sit right on the shores of stunning Loch Ness in the Scottish Highlands. Inverness is just 20 miles away and it's a great base from which to explore this beautiful region - Fort Augustus and the stunning ruin of Urquhart Castle are both within easy reach.

There's plenty of walking, fishing and boating to be done - with a jetty for canoe and kayak launching, as well as an adventure playground and mountain bike hire. You could take a five mile walk along the Caledonian Canal from Fort Augustus, stopping for a picnic at Kytra Lock. It's a relatively easy walk so ideal for the whole family.

We love The Moorings, a luxurious and modern lodge with amazing views of Loch Ness. It has a spacious open plan living area with a 42" plasma TV and Freesat, a DVD player and surround sound. French doors lead out onto a decking area where you can enjoy a barbecue and a soak in your own private hot tub.

From Invermoriston, a trip to the Isle of Skye will make a wonderful day out, and the beautiful landscape of the Cairngorms National Park sets the scene for hiking, cycling and climbing.

Our Top Tip
"Enjoy quad bike trekking, 4x4 driving, clay pigeon shooting, archery and white water rafting at the Highland Activities centre at Newtonmore."

We were disappointed that the brochure shows the accomodation we chose on the lake but we behind a different set of lodges so not on the lake. The childrens area is to small and the site could benefit from some kind of eatery or shop as we had to go to Fort Augustus eack time we needed anything

What a stunning place. We stayed in No 3 The Moorings and it has to be one of the most relaxing holidays we have ever had. The site is very quiet, clean and David and Fiona are lovely. Nothing was too much trouble. The lodge was immaculate, with everything you could ever need - down to washing up scourers and even ice in the freezer! The best part was the location - right on the loch side, with views from the hot tub that I will always remember. Stunning. Literally. The park is so quiet, clean, and ideally situated for exploring further afield - Inverness, Fort William etc. We ordered groceries online and they were delivered which was a lot easier than trying to find a large supermarket. Sitting in the hot tub on an evening, watching the swallows dart here and there; follow boats up and down the loch, whilst sipping a glass or two of prosecco, well what more could you ask for?! Didn't want to leave!

We had a great holiday and we will be going back next year

Very nice place just need more kids stuff

We chose a two-bed 'Retreat', which was lovely. You could almost touch the Loch from the deck. If I had a minor criticism, it's the lack of space in the bedroom and toilet. This would make life very difficult for anyone a bit less mobile than normal, but the living area and kitchen made up for this in many ways. If we were returning, we'd opt for a larger option, even though there would be just the two of us. Overall, we enjoyed our stay very much. Great weather - a real bonus. Beautiful scenery and lots to do in the area!

This was without doubt our best ever lodge/caravan holiday. The location was a dream - right at the water's edge of Loch Ness from where all the atmospheric moods of Loch Ness can be experienced - even whilst soaking in the hot-tub! Dave and Fiona, who run the site just couldn't have been friendlier. Invermoriston is definitely one of the less commercialised spots around the Loch, which to us was a plus, though the local coffee/tea room, craft shop and essential supplies post office were a delight and very friendly. We are keen walkers, and the stretch of the Great Glen Way just across the road behind us terrific - the high track option offering spectacular panoramic views of the Loch. Obviously we were there relatively early on in the season (May) so very quiet. We understand that the new site owners intend to open a restaurant on site (in June) and also provide a mooring point for passing boats and possibly even a small beauty spa. Personally, we would not have regarded these things as a particular benefit since we enjoy the peace and trnaquility of the location - however no doubt it will be as carefully managed as the rest of the site.

Great place to get away from it all. We stayed in The Moorings No9, the lodge had everything we needed. I would say a car is essential, although we spent most of our holiday at the lodge because of the beautiful setting. Only negative is that i went swimming in the loch and found the water to be very cold!
Tanya
David and Fiona gave us a very warm welcome and were very kind to our 5 year old daughter, a great start to our weekend. We loved Loch Ness Highland Lodges and had a wonderful weekend there.
