Gwel an Mor translates as 'view of the sea' and this name is very fitting given the breathtaking views from the site. Perched high on a hilltop just a few minutes from the beach, this fantastic setting will appeal to families and couples alike.  The site has outstanding facilities and was voted one of the top ten coastal holidays by the Guardian in 2008.

Onsite guests can enjoy use of a lovely heated indoor heated swimming pool together with jacuzzi, steam room and sauna. There is also a beauty therapy suite offering a range of traditional and more holistic treatments. Outside you can enjoy the putting green or a game of croquet. On an evening the elegant restaurant serves fresh local food while close by the fishing village of Portreath offers a larger choice of places to eat.

There's plenty to see and do in the area too. Whether you prefer surfing, building sandcastles or simply admiring the breathtaking views from the coastal path - Gwel an Mor is a great place to relax and unwind.

There are five types of lodge at Gwel an Mor, so there is bound to be something to suit your needs. The Lowena are luxury terraced lodges with two bedrooms and large kitchen/ dining areas with sea views. The Tregar VIP lodges are luxurious two storey lodges with stylish interiors and three bedrooms as well as extras including wood burning stove, bath robes and private hot tubs.

We plan to visit the site again because the overall quality of the lodge and surroundings was superior to most other parks. This one is small, quiet and friendly, which is fine for couples and families with younger children.

A superb and superior place to stay for your holiday. Scenic, quiet with lots to do.

Fantastic accommodation that's quiet and peaceful but also well suited for the whole family. We loved it.

Our only qualm was having to pay £6 a day for the soft play that (we feel) should be inclusive of your holiday package for the price you pay.

All very good though and we would definitely recommend & go again

Fantastic lodge, we took elderly disabled relatives and this lodge did not disappoint us, they had lots of room to move around, the wet room bathroom was perfect for them, the quality of appliances throughout the lodge was high, everything we could have wanted was supplied, overall a really lovely lodge, nice quiet surroundings, no one overlooked us, the hot tub was a big hit, very warm and well maintained, would recommend this lodge if you have someone with mobility issues as it was spacious and a well adapted bedroom and bathroom.

Had a great holiday. Really good location, Portreath is a lovely place, and Gwithian around the corner too. Lovely lodge, nice facilities. Only downside is cramped parking, could barely get the car to our lodge at one evening when a wedding was on. Also, although the restaurant food/drink was very nice, it is far too expensive. But mostly we had a brilliant time
Amber
Fantastic holiday, stayed in the residence 3 and it exceeded our expectations!!! Beautiful site, my daughter loved base camp. So close to the beach. Will definitely be booking again.
Eileen
A beautiful resort with spotless, faultless accommodation. An issue with a light bulb was fixed before we knew it. Plenty of dog walks, bike rides and quietness along with the most knowledgeable, friendly host who took us on our night walk/badger watch. Meeting the foxes, seeing baby barn owls and stroking a baby hedgehog, were all part of our Gwel an Mor stay. The first pet holiday I've been on that didn't smell of dog. I would recommend this resort and hope to go back
Allan
Gorgeous accommodation in a beautiful location.
Eve
Excellent. We really enjoyed a quiet week away with sea views in lovely surroundings. Some facilities were still being finished while we were there but there were plenty of walks signposted for dogs, a country park almost next door and dog friendly beaches in the evenings nearby.

lovely will be back soon

Beautiful place with a very laid back but organised vibe. Stayed in a Residence 3 which was ultra modern and very well furnished, although lacked a bottle top opener! Will definitely return
Chloe
It was an amazing resort and the holiday was fantastic. The location was beautiful.
Julie
Beautiful accommodation, stunning surroundings, well thought out layout of accommodation no one overlooked us, very clean in accommodation and around the holiday resort. The swimming pool was extremely clean, good showers and facilities to dry hair. We also booked the wildlife experience, excellent fun with a very informative guide who connected well with our 4 year old. Soft play centre was well maintained and lovely staff. We did find the restaurant a little pricey but beautiful position. It would have been nice if there was a more informal coffee shop on site and maybe a little shop to supply the essentials such as, milk and bread but overall a beautiful holiday resort. We did go out of school holidays so the price we paid was sensible, however, I do feel the price increase for school holidays is excessive and this would put us off booking in the future when our children are now at school age.
Chris
Wow, what a holiday!!! We stayed in a residence lodge and were not disappointed. The lodge was modern, clean and very comfortable. The 3 generous sized bedrooms together with the open plan kitchen/living and dining room was perfect for our family of 5. We had a beautiful sea view and the resort itself was lovely. The children loved the pool (as well as the hot tub) and the gym is well equipped. I think the addition of a Clubhouse would be a good idea or somewhere for guests to go in the evenings to socialise with others. We definitely recommend The Terrace for some truly amazing food at very reasonable prices. The staff were very helpful and friendly. All in all, we had an amazing holiday and would love to return.

Fun Days Out near Gwel an Mor

The Rock Gardens Caves and Nursery have an amazing setting in the old Palace Quarry. The gardens offer an abundance of trees, plants and floral displays including a very grand 80ft Elm Tree and a stunning Weeping Ash. The site also offers a large carp pond, a breathtaking illuminated cave and a tea room serving tasty local produce.
Paradise Park - about 8 Miles
Paradise Park first opened its doors in Cornwall in 1973 and has been one of the regions top attractions ever since. What was once just a tropical bird garden is now a refuge for many different species of animal and aims to be educational as well as fun for its visitors. The inhabitants include some typical UK creatures including Otters, and Red Squirrels as well as some more unusual and rare animals including Red Pandas. Younger children will enjoy meeting the friendly animals in the farm area. The site has recently been extended and now also has a fantastic Jungle Barn where kids can let of steam.
Holywell Bay Fun Park - about 11 Miles
Holywell Bay Fun Park has been one of South Cornwall's most popular attractions for many years and features a good range of rides for children of all ages. As well as fairground rides and Go- Karts there are plenty of places for family fun including the Maze, Bumper Boats and Lazar Shooting area. If the weather is not great visitors can simply head inside as there are plenty of indoor activities including a large Soft Play Area and a thrilling Climbing Wall. With no entrance fee this park is a good budget friendly option too.
A fantastic attraction with something for everyone.  Combining rides, activities and exhibitions it's all here in the one place. Look out for seasonal events too such as the Fire in the Sky event on 27th October 2010 - discount advance tickets are available for most of the events so don't forget to check out their website.  Some of the most popular thrill rides include the first Twisting Droptower in the UK called the Skyraker 001.  The Hornert Rollercoaster is also not to be missed.
