Gwel an Mor translates as 'view of the sea' and this name is very fitting given the breathtaking views from the site. Perched high on a hilltop just a few minutes from the beach, this fantastic setting will appeal to families and couples alike.  The site has outstanding facilities and was voted one of the top ten coastal holidays by the Guardian in 2008.

Onsite guests can enjoy use of a lovely heated indoor heated swimming pool together with jacuzzi, steam room and sauna. There is also a beauty therapy suite offering a range of traditional and more holistic treatments. Outside you can enjoy the putting green or a game of croquet. On an evening the elegant restaurant serves fresh local food while close by the fishing village of Portreath offers a larger choice of places to eat.

There's plenty to see and do in the area too. Whether you prefer surfing, building sandcastles or simply admiring the breathtaking views from the coastal path - Gwel an Mor is a great place to relax and unwind.

There are five types of lodge at Gwel an Mor, so there is bound to be something to suit your needs. The Lowena are luxury terraced lodges with two bedrooms and large kitchen/ dining areas with sea views. The Tregar VIP lodges are luxurious two storey lodges with stylish interiors and three bedrooms as well as extras including wood burning stove, bath robes and private hot tubs.

Very comfortable lodge although it was a slight disappointment to find the car parking space is at the rear of the lodge whilst the entrance door was at the front, not too much of a problem except that one of our party has mobility issues. Only parking space for one car which I found strange for a three bed-roomed accommodation (any additional vehicles have to be parked at the reception building area which is a fair walk away).

Highly recommend this place it was just perfect

To us it was pure perfection. Location was beautiful. It was near to the beach and the walk was gorgeous too. It was also easy to commute to lots of local attractions. The facilities were faultless. They thought of everything... from chocolates on the pillows to soft fluffy robes and bottle of wine to boot. The indoor soft play is the cleanest and nicest I have ever visited with easy viewing of the play area so we could let the little one have some independant play. The farm was adorable and the pool and spa were so elegant and again spotlessly clean. Last of all the staff.....an absolute credit to the place. Extremely friendly and efficient and always smiling. We will be back :)
Ben
An excellent family holiday location.
Natalie
This was one of the best holidays we have had as a family. We cannot fault it one little bit. Every little detail was thought of and the staff were amazing with nothing being too much trouble. The food in the terrace restaurant was brilliant and again so were the staff. Really child friendly.
Sarah
Lovely place, excellent accommodation, very modern and clean! Site was quiet.
Rachael
Lovely accommodation, very clean and well looked after. Location is wonderful with sea views. Facilities at the centre are good and cater for activities for children. Great place to go. Central location for day trips out.
Paul
6th time we have visited. Residence lodges are excellent. Only feedback this time is we felt the shine had come of the service a little with more inexperienced staff. However we will still be back.
Michelle
A wonderful location and lodge. Well equipped and peaceful too.
Nigel
Excellent, relaxing break.
Rob
Only downside was Portreath itself. Flats around harbour unappealing and poor facilities
Victoria
Very good standard of accommodation and facilities. A little overpriced for additional activities. Restaurant was disappointing with poor service. 5 waitresses to clarify what sorbets were available was very frustrating.

Fun Days Out near Gwel an Mor

The Rock Gardens Caves and Nursery have an amazing setting in the old Palace Quarry. The gardens offer an abundance of trees, plants and floral displays including a very grand 80ft Elm Tree and a stunning Weeping Ash. The site also offers a large carp pond, a breathtaking illuminated cave and a tea room serving tasty local produce.
Paradise Park - about 8 Miles
Paradise Park first opened its doors in Cornwall in 1973 and has been one of the regions top attractions ever since. What was once just a tropical bird garden is now a refuge for many different species of animal and aims to be educational as well as fun for its visitors. The inhabitants include some typical UK creatures including Otters, and Red Squirrels as well as some more unusual and rare animals including Red Pandas. Younger children will enjoy meeting the friendly animals in the farm area. The site has recently been extended and now also has a fantastic Jungle Barn where kids can let of steam.
Holywell Bay Fun Park - about 11 Miles
Holywell Bay Fun Park has been one of South Cornwall's most popular attractions for many years and features a good range of rides for children of all ages. As well as fairground rides and Go- Karts there are plenty of places for family fun including the Maze, Bumper Boats and Lazar Shooting area. If the weather is not great visitors can simply head inside as there are plenty of indoor activities including a large Soft Play Area and a thrilling Climbing Wall. With no entrance fee this park is a good budget friendly option too.
A fantastic attraction with something for everyone.  Combining rides, activities and exhibitions it's all here in the one place. Look out for seasonal events too such as the Fire in the Sky event on 27th October 2010 - discount advance tickets are available for most of the events so don't forget to check out their website.  Some of the most popular thrill rides include the first Twisting Droptower in the UK called the Skyraker 001.  The Hornert Rollercoaster is also not to be missed.
