The lodges at Swandown are truly spectacular - unbelievably stylish, individually designed and with amazing views over the glorious Somerset countryside and the historic Cricket St Thomas estate. Swandown Lodges sit between two bustling market towns - Crewkerne and Chard - where you'll find plenty of shopping opportunities.

The facilities include a heated indoor swimming pool, a leisure complex, spa, sauna and steam room. Bike hire is available and there are plenty of nature trails to explore; you could go fishing and try your hand at clay pigeon shooting too. The children will be kept amused with the outdoor adventure playground, a selection of board games and a Wii - and there is a great family pub within walking distance.

Poldon Lodge is brand new for 2012, a luxurious and contemporary two storey lodge that sleeps six people. It's actually designed upside down - the bedrooms and bathroom are downstairs and the living area is on the first floor! Large patio doors lead out on to your own private balcony with an outdoor hot tub and spectacular views. On chilly evenings, you could light the log burner and enjoy a Blu-ray film on the flat screen TV.

Swandown Lodges sit right on the Somerset/Dorset border, not far from both Lyme Regis and Yeovil. The Jurassic Coast is a World Heritage Site and there are some amazing beaches to discover - Brean Beach at Burnham-on-Sea, part of a seven mile stretch of sands, is in the Good Beach Guide and ideal for walking and sports. There are plenty of towns and villages to explore such as Honiton, a busy market town and Beer, a picturesque little smugglers' village.

Could have done with air con or extra fans. Bit was unusually hot and the pool provided excellent place for cooling off.

A fantastic break in a perfect location. Andy was so helpful and the lodge was superb. One small point is that the sitting room rug curls up at the edge and is a tripping hazard.
First class accommodation. Location and facilities perfect for a relaxing family holiday. Staff couldn't have been more helpful or friendly, made us feel very welcome.
The accommodation was very spacious, although we like previous reviewers did find ourselves walking into bed corners! The lodge was immaculately clean and fully equipped with everything we needed. We made use of the bikes and the field for sports but did not try the swimming pool. Again like previous reviewers we found the way back up the hill on the bike a little tough! The site was well positioned for access to local supermarkets and the pub opposite had gorgeous views over the Somerset Levels.
Enjoyed a long weekend here, the surroundings are beautiful a lovely view of the countryside from the balcony. The lodge itself very well equipped and a lovely pub close by. Would definitely recommend
Beautiful accommodation. There could be more for kids tho. Just a small field with ball games and a forrest "gym" with one swing. Invest in park like equipment. Pool on the small side but kept very clean and tidy. Bike equipment great but could do with closer attention.
Swandown for me is everything I could want in a holiday, it's so beautiful, there are so many walks locally and it's only a short journey to the coast. I really feel like I have left the world behind me when I'm there, all life stresses simply disappear. I love the swimming / steam room etc at the hotel which adults can use so even if the weather isn't good you have facilities close by. The views are fantastic, I love just sitting looking over the valley.
It was great; beautiful surroundings, a charming farm and service minded staff. The lodge was spacious and top class. Close to everything. Only con was dining, both at the local pub and the close by golf club. Barbecue and dine with a wonderful view at the lodge instead.
Second year there - No problems
Lovely lodge in a superb setting if you want peace and quiet. Staff were great. Nice bikes, pool small but good.
Good job you did not ask about the lovely wet windy weather!
