These beautifully designed, stylish lodges are set on the edge of Caersws village in the heart of the Welsh countryside, five miles from Newtown and halfway between Aberystwyth and Shrewsbury. With outdoor activities, fascinating attractions and simply stunning views, Powys is a wonderful county to explore.

Slate House Lodges are next to a working farm and close to Caersws, a small village with a choice of pubs, a café and some local shops. The glorious Welsh coast is just a 45 minute drive away and you'll find beautiful walks, clay pigeon shooting, fishing and golf courses close by. Pamper packs are available so treat yourself and be greeted with bubbly, flowers and chocolates on arrival.

We love Valley View Lodge, a two storey luxury lodge with panoramic views across the Welsh countryside. It has two bedrooms, a spacious lounge / kitchen / dining area with a paved patio and outdoor hot tub. The king sized double bedroom has an en-suite shower - and with a reading room on the second floor, there's plenty of space for four people.

A trip to the pretty town of Llanidloes makes for a lovely day out - surrounded by mountain scenery, it's popular with wildlife enthusiasts, walkers and horse riders, plus there are plenty of pubs to choose from.

Our Top Tip
"Head to Llanidloes where you can join the Glyndwr's Way National Trail for a nine mile walk to Afon Biga, across the River Severn and following the Clywedog reservoir."

Slate House Lodges Reviews

Accommodation type: Valley View Lodge
As with all the previous reviews, Slate House Lodges are brilliant. We stayed in the Valley View Lodge and it was everything we expected and more! The surrounding are in a peaceful and tranquil environment. The Lodge was fully equipped with all the amenities. The lodge was surprisingly well insulated and rarely put the heating on even when it was quite cold outside. The upper floor reading room is a dream and so relaxing. The master bedroom balcony overlooking the valley is amazing! lots of wildlife around.

We didn't feel like we were completely disconnected from the world as there is very good Wifi.

The hot tub was far the best experience whilst staying at the lodge. We used it several times during our stay and was really appreciated after a strenuous walk to Mt. Snowdon summit. The hot tub is equipped with Bluetooth speakers so we relaxed with our favourite songs.

Only thing to be wary about is the last couple of miles drive up the hill to get to the lodge. It is narrow and parts of the road turn into a dirt track, however, this won't put us off coming here again. We will definitely be returning.

Fantastic break if you want to get away from it all. Lodges are situated in a lovely location 2 miles off the main road which gives you excellent views of the valley. The owners are very helpful and put a lot of time an effort into keeping the grounds well maintained. The lodges have everything you need and more.

Stunning views, lovely lodge and despite a late arrival the greeting was warm and friendly. Nothing was too much trouble and we've fallen in love with the place. So much so we're going back in the spring 2018.

Beautiful lodge, that was very well equipment. We have never stayed in a lodge that was so nice; attention to detail was brilliant. Absolutely stunning views surrounding the lodge. The hot tub was amazing, with plenty of room. Only three lodges on site, which are spaced quite far apart which means you can enjoy the hot tub at night without disturbing others. The drive up to the lodge would be quite daunting for an inexperienced driver, very narrow and steep windy roads as the lodge is quite high up. We would definitely love to stay again.

Had a great time and the owners were lovely. A little bit of the beaten track but is great for a peaceful weekend. Wifi is really good which made my teenage kids very happy. Only thing I would say is it is quite pricey but I suppose we did book during school holidays.
