Stackyard Reviews

Everything spot on
Zoe - Oct 2024
Amazing place, you wont be disappointed. Friendly owner, wine chocolate eggs and milk on arrival. Amazing views. Highly recommend
Andrew - Jul 2024
Stackyard is a very pleasant place to stay of a week. It has been built to a high standard and feels high quality. Rooms are all good sized and wellequipped. It was spotlessly clean when we arrived and welcome gifts were a nice touch. We would certainly recommend it. Owners left us to ourselves but were on hand to help when required. Only two tiny things we can think of to improve itAdvise guests they need to bring adapters for shavers and electric toothbrushes Provide a little more information on local amenities and events.

We had a lovely family holiday at The Stackyard with our two daughters their partners and two little dogs. The property is huge so everyone had their own space. It is spotless and the owners have thought of everything. We met the owners and they were lovely friendly people. The garden space is amazing our two dogs loved playing in it and it was perfectly safe for them. Loved meeting the cute little alpacas and hens in the field opposite. So peaceful it really is the perfect place to unwind and destress. Could not fault this place at all 10 out of 10 from us. Would definitely recommend this property we didnt want to leave will definitely visit again.

Our 2nd visit to these lovely properties. Previously went the adjoining one which wasnt available this time. We werent disappointed as it was just as good. Beautiful property set in farmland in a nice little village with a couple of welcoming pubs. Owner was very friendly and helpful and we hope to return.

I would give this property 10 out of 10. I've stayed in quite a few of these type of lodges, and must say this is best I've stayed in. Everything was thought of. We usually leave mid week when we book somewhere, but maid use of it till the last day. If I had to describe it in 3 words, beautiful, practical, and cozy.
Kerry - Nov 2023
The property is one of the best we have stayed in, unfortunately the hot tub went off but was very quickly actioned by the owner. The beds are very comfy, the sofa is comfortable enough for sitting for a short time and very modern but not great for lounging. Having the Larmas in the garden outside the property was a massive bonus they were so lovely. The lodge had everything you need for an amazing stay. Wouldnt have any doubt in booking this again. Thanks so much
Rod - Aug 2023
A fantastic property. . very well equipped, ideally situated geographically for visiting numerous places. Property owners were very helpful. We loved the views from the property and the Alpacas, horses, chickens in the fields opposite. Hottub and fire pit were amazing especially at night whilst enjoying a glass of wine. Fully recommend a stay at Stackyard.

Brilliant.
Sarah - May 2023
Exceptional cottage both in terms of location, decor, comfort and hospitality. Ideally located within 10 min drive to Durham yet within the peace and tranquility of the area. Wonderful close proximity walks, dog friendly, fantastic space inside and out.

Stayed at the Stackyard at Witton Hall Farm. Unbelievable! The most amazing place we have stayed so far. The lodge is beautifully laid out and decorated with gorgeous views of the countryside.Arrived to a welcome pack of prosecco, chocolates, milk and fresh farm eggs which was a lovely touch and the eggs were beautiful! The lodge is really well equipped with everything you could possibly need in particular the kitchen area including BBQ utensils. The owner Chris and the rest of the team at site are fantastic and have been on hand any time we needed them.We had a minor issue with the hot tub not working correctly and within 15 minutes of notifying the owners, they were there to fix it.This is a suberb holiday rental with high quality living and sleeping areas, Beds very comfortable, great kitchendining area and all very high spec with quality amenities. There were 5 of us staying and all felt the space was brilliant with plenty of different areas to sit and not be on top of each other. Loved seeing the Alpacas and horses every day and feeding them apples and carrots.Outdoor space is spectacular to take in the beautiful views with a corner unit lounge by the outdoor BBQ and a seperate table and chairs with a built in fire pit. Plus the hot tub is fantastic with outdoor lighting and fairy lights over the tub.Amazing location, highly recommend. Plus the ownersmanagers really go ouy of their way to make you feel welcome.Amazing holiday had by all, thank you. We will book again specifically for here and highly recommend!x

We stayed in the Stackyard, it was perfect just like the photos. Every room was tastefully decorated to a high standard with beautiful light fittings. The kitchen and sitting room were excellent, classy and everything you would want . Great scenery, added bonus the Alpacas, horses and chickens.
Andrew - Mar 2023
The stackyard was a perfect base to explore Durham and the surrounding area! The accommodation was clean and very well equipped. We arrived with snow and the underfloor heating made the stay very comfortable. The hot tub was such a bonus after a day of walking, we will definitely return soon. Thank you!
Emily - Feb 2023
What an amazing property The StackYard is. Me, my family and our Labrador spent a week here which was so enjoyable. Fantastic views over the countryside and the alpacas!safe to say we fell in love with the place very quickly. It really does have the WOW factor. The owners supplied all of the essentials soap, washingdishwasher tablets, condiments and we also got a bottle of bubbly, chocolates and fresh eggs which was a lovely welcome for us. This is going to be a regular holiday spot for usalready booked to come back to another property on the same site it was that amazing!
William - Feb 2023
Wonderful property beautifully decorated and furnished, with everything you could need for a fantastic home from home stay. Thoughtful welcome and great support from owners.
k - Dec 2022
Very wellequipped, clean, and luxurious lodge. Alpacas, chickens, and horses onsite making it much more enjoyable for all ages. Welcome pack on arrival with lots of extras that I didnt expect, but was very great full for, such as washing up liquid, bin bags, fresh eggs from the farm, and toilet rolls. We will be booking again.
Christine - Dec 2022
Wonderful place to stay accommodation is excellent and very well appointed with many thoughtful touches and much appreciated welcome gifts. The view is spectacular and there is plenty of choice of walks. Also friendly alpacas in the nearby field!
Wendy - Oct 2022

Go Ape Northumberland - NE48 1NT

Go Ape! has really taken off and become one of the most popular attractions in the UK.  The Northumberland course is set in the stunning grounds of Matfin Hall.  Described as a high wire forest adventure this really is one for the more daring as the course takes place right up in the tree tops.  Giant tree top obstacle courses include ladders, bridges, tunnels and some of the country's best zip lines.  You will be provided with all safety equipment and training on site.
Big Sheep - EX39 5AP
about 35 Miles
This is a recommended day out for families with young children visiting the Bedale area of Yorkshire.  Visit the farm and receive a warm welcome as well as a guided tour.  You will have the chance to bottle feed the lambs, bath a pig and handle some of the smaller animals.  Kids will love the big sandpit and the outdoor play area. There is also a cafe and indoor play area for when the weather is not on your side.
Cragside House and Gardens - NE65 7PX
about 36 Miles
Cragside House and Gardens (National Trust) are a popular Northumberland attraction with a beautiful stately home and gorgeous grounds to explore. The rhododendron labyrinth is a unique and fun addition to the grounds and there is also an adventure playground where children can let of steam. It is the stunning scenery that attracts most of the visitors though with many bringing a picnic for a relaxing family day out. The house itself hosts exhibits which change regularly. World of the Water Wizard is currently on display.
