Westholme Lodges have a fantastic location within Bishopdale on the banks of the beautiful Bishopdale Beck.  The lodges offer guests a rural retreat surrounded by the peace and tranquillity of nature.  Westholme is a perfect holiday base for anyone wishing to experience the real heart of the Yorkshire Dales and there are many attractions close by.  Those seeking action and adventure can find numerous outdoor activities within a few minutes drive.

This much-loved area is home to some of the finest countryside in England and you are perfectly placed for exploring. Walking and cycling are great ways to discover all that the area has to offer. Within ten minutes' walk of the park are the delightful traditional villages of West Burton and Aysgarth. Here you will find shops selling local Dales produce and pubs serving Black Sheep Ale – a must for any visitor. This is also a great food producing region and farmers markets and farm shops are plentiful.

There is a choice of one or two bedroom lodges at Westholme. The one bedroom Westholme Cedar VIP was new in 2009 and is very impressive with a stylish, contemporary interior. Vaulted doors lead to a private terrace with stunning views and a hot tub. The two bedroom Westholme Oak is also very luxurious and has a stunning open plan living area as well as a private terrace.

Westholme Lodges Reviews

Wow, What a fantastic holiday. The lodges are like home from home and offer a very high standard. The staff are wonderful and will do their best to help you in any way and the on site restaurant is very good and quite reasonably priced. The grounds are very well kept and the hot tub was an added bonus after a long walk in the dales. It is a must to visit the falls and the Wensleydale Creamery. There are not many shops around so do stock up prior to your visit. There are some great local pubs to visit that also do great food but might be best to book in advance. All in all, its a fantastic place to visit. Looking forward to our next visit.

Was a great break for us and the dogs. Would highly recommend. There were no problems and staff are great.
Ideally need a car to get there and visit neighbouring towns.
The lodges are cosy and nice. Some slight updating needed on some of the furniture and shower but the decor is good. Could do with short fence on the dog lodge gardens.

Box in kitchen has wash up liquid, cloth, tea towel, dish washer tablets and black bin bag. Bathroom has soap, shower gel, shampoo & body lotion. Restaurant & bar on site is excellent. Fabulous relaxing holiday.

We stayed in one of the Maple VIP lodges; number 30. The location of the site is faultless; how can you fault that landscape. The lodge was perfect, plenty of room and very clean neat and tidy. We stayed for four nights from the 17th July. The staff were very friendly and helpful. The food at Henderson's was lovely. We walked every day and had great weather for it. There was one thing missing and that is WiFi in the lodges themselves; in one respect this is a good thing, we came away for peace and quiet and to get outside which we did but I wanted to plan walking routes etc and could only do this by walking to the Bar/Restaurant to use wifi in there. The other thing is we only used he hot tub once. This is because it was far too hot at nearly 39 degrees it nearly scalded us, far too hot. There are no controls to turn the heat down. After a long day out and a meal we settled down for an hour maybe each night and put the TV on nothing but the same 3 or 4 channels. Try as we might there was nothing else it just didn't receive anything else. Not a real problem at all but thought I'd mention it. Overall we would stay at the lodge over and over again we had a fantastic time.

Decent resturant and bar with nice food. Nice (real) beer too. Fantastic location, easy walking to Aysgarth Falls (dramatic - you absolutely must go!) and some great low-flying by the RAF in their latest sports jets in the valleys nearby. (Not disturbing on the site.) Castles, stately homes, gorgeous countryside, wildlife, great walking and cheese. Lots of cheese. Nothing not to like, apart perhaps from poor mobile phone coverage in the area, but you're supposed to be on holiday aren't you, and besides, you get free wi-fi in the bar/restaurant.

Fun Days Out near Westholme Estate Lodges

Big Sheep - about 15 Miles
This is a recommended day out for families with young children visiting the Bedale area of Yorkshire.  Visit the farm and receive a warm welcome as well as a guided tour.  You will have the chance to bottle feed the lambs, bath a pig and handle some of the smaller animals.  Kids will love the big sandpit and the outdoor play area. There is also a cafe and indoor play area for when the weather is not on your side.
Lightwater Valley - about 18 Miles
Situated in the Ripon area of North Yorkshire this popular theme park makes a fantastic day out for the whole family.  The more daring will love the big and thrilling rides such as Raptor Attack, The Ultimate and Trauma Tower.  For the little ones there are some excellent attractions such as Flying Camels, Dodgems and a Magic Wheel.  Toddlers will like the Dragon Boats and the Lightwater Express amongst other things. There are over 40 rides and attractions in total and we think this is excellent value for money too.  If you book your tickets in advance online you can save even more money and beat the queues.
Fountains Abbey - about 19 Miles
This is an outstanding world heritage site located close to Ripon in the North Yorkshire area. Nature lovers will be in their element with an abundance of wide open spaces to explore and there are special guided tours for families.  Some of the highlights may include seeing wild deer and bats during your visit.  The grounds are fantastic to wander round but there is also an Elizabethan Mansion, Victorian Church, Georgian Water Garden and the finest example of Cistercian Abbey ruins in the country - Well worth a visit!
