Nine miles south of Aberystwyth and just one and a half miles from the nearest beach, Penrhos Park offers the perfect holiday experience for golf lovers and those who just want to explore the nearby historic towns and harbour villages. The facilities are excellent - there are two bars and a bistro on the park as well as a bowling green and tennis courts.

Fishing and riding are both available locally and Penrhos Park also has an indoor heated swimming pool, leisure centre, gym, steam room, sauna and solarium. You can take advantage of a challenging 18 hole golf course or a 9 hole par 3 or par 4 course with a driving range and reduced green fees. The Penrhos Bistro serves a good selection of freshly prepared and locally sourced meals.

We recommend the Osprey and the Kestrel VIP lodges, both with their own private decking areas and gorgeous outdoor hot tubs. Osprey VIP sleeps up to six people and the master double has an ensuite bathroom. It's a truly outstanding two storey, Scandinavian style log cabin - spacious, luxurious and beautifully equipped.

There are plenty of beaches along Cardigan Bay and you can take a wildlife boat trip from New Quay and be almost certain to spot grey seals and porpoises. Take a bike ride along the beautiful Dysynnii Valley near Twywn - it's virtually traffic-free so completely safe for cyclists and walkers. For a bit of light refreshment, the Lamb & Flag Inn at Rhayader serves real ale and home cooked meals.

Our Top Tip
"A visit to The Spice Cottage is a must for food lovers as it's been voted the best curry house in Wales.  The location is in Rhayader 26 miles from Penrhos Park."

The lodge was impressive and it accommodated the six of us very comfortably. The kitchen, dining and lounge facility was cosy and sufficient for our needs. Bedrooms were a reasonable size. However, the mattresses on the bed were a little springy, so we didnt sleep well. The bedroom downstairs did get cold at night. We were disappointed that we werent allowed to bring our pet dog, as we know it would have been perfect for him too! Having said that, we did made friends with a delightful black and white cat, who was exceptionally friendly. The hot tub was an extra luxury that the family really enjoyed. The views were beautiful and the site grounds were immaculate. It was very quiet and peaceful in Penrhos Park, which was lovely. Didnt see many people at all. We were only a short drive away from Aberaeron and Aberystwyth. We went on the steam train from Aberystwyth to Devils Bridge, for Halloween - which was very spooky indeed! Highly recommend this trip. We visited the Habourmaster restaurant / pub, in Aberaeron, twice - as we enjoyed the ambience and food so much. Well worth a visit - what a lovely place. The golf facilities were great, including the driving range, which was floodlit at night. The clubhouse was a little run down and needed some attention. The swimming pool was a reasonable size, but looked tired. The tennis courts had not been maintained very well and were very slippery under foot, due to the build up of moss. Overall, it was a fabulous weekend break for the family and we would consider returning and recommending to others.

We had a nice break, the only problem we had in the caravan was that there were flies in the caravan.

Loved the lodge it was amazing but a bit to far to drive that is the only thing. Also swimming pool really cold. Other than that it was great x
