The Acorn Lodge is the perfect cabin for a couple wanting a romantic getaway, not only was it cosy and relaxing but the standalone bath in the bedroom was amazing and the cabin in a whole is perfect for this.

Very good accommodation and I would have no hesitation in booking again. Facilities within the lodge were very good and the Wii Fi was perfect for our 14yr old. Hot tub was great fun warm and checked daily by site staff. Parking was good and there was a park & ride close by going in York. Look forward to my next booking.

nice relaxing stay with the children over new year would defo recommend this place
Really nice setting, and log cabin perfect.
Wonderful lodges, immaculate inside and so lovely to have a Christmas tree already for us, everything we needed was in the lodge and it is the perfect location for complete relaxation. We were in a dog friendly lodge and it was exceptionally clean, the gated decking was perfect to allow the dogs to free time on the decking while we enjoyed the hot tub.
Excellent holiday. Went the week before Christmas. Location was perfect. Gerry was very helpful. Loved every minute of being there
What an amazing place to spend our first Christmas as Mr & Mrs!!! We were greeted by a lovely woman called Gerry who showed us to our cabin and showed us around it and provided us with all the information we could need, the atmosphere was peaceful and relaxing and the surroundings added to it with wildlife running all over, it was amazing!
Gorgeous place will definitely be returning. Staff were lovely.
We have returned every year for 6years at Christmas time, & love the peace & quiet. The hosts are available if you want them, but totally leave you to it undisturbed. It’s just the perfect sanctuary to get away from everything and everyone
This was a lovely little place and the hot tub was fully up to temperature and ready to use. It’s half an hour drive from York and quite remote so stock up on things before you get there! It didn’t have the little things that are usually in places like this- teabags, salt etc but that’s not a problem as long as you remember to take it with you. The owner was really helpful, everything was clean and they had even put a little Christmas tree up which made it extra festive. This little lodge is very private and looks out on to the lake, our little girl loved having ducks outside the window.

A day trip to Stillingfleet Lodge Gardens is the perfect way to relax with several gardens to explore in the grounds of a historic farmhouse. The gardens were established 30 years ago and each has something different to offer. Expect to find dramatic displays of foliage and flowers as well as beautifully landscaped areas. Families will enjoy the woodland which leads to a wildlife pond and a beautiful wildflower meadow. Entry to the gardens cost just 4 for adults and 50p for children.
York Maze - about 7 Miles
If you are enjoying a lodge holiday in Yorkshire then a visit to York Maze is a must! This summertime attraction is now one of the most popular in the region offering fun for the whole family. The maze has been improved this year and is now bigger and better than ever before. Carved from an amazing 1.5 million growing maize plants it is thought to be the largest maze in the world! As well as the maze itself the site boasts an adventure playground, 9 hole crazy golf courses and an animal petting area where children can meet the cute and friendly animals that eat the maize and watch pig racing! Tractor and trailer rides around the maize are also available and are recommended for those with young children.
Jorvik Viking Centre - about 9 Miles
Jorvik Viking Centre is a fun and educational attraction offering visitors the chance to learn all about the Viking-Age city of Jorvik. Thanks to the Archaeologists from York Archaeological Trust the amazing houses, workshops and backyards of the Viking-Age city of Jorvik are on display and give a clear insight to the way of life all those years ago.  The site aims to offer an interactive experience with the state of the art time capsule and the blacksmith's furnace being the top attractions.
Jorvik DIG - about 10 Miles
Dig is a unique and somewhat educational attraction in York offering children the opportunity to enjoy excavation, discovery, and digging. Within the site is a discovery centre, several pits filled with Roman and Medieval ruins and a science lab where children can take part in exciting experiments. Staff are on hand at all times to help the children and to ensure they get the most from the experience. The attraction can get busy during school holidays and pre booking is recommended.
