This rural retreat is a fisherman's delight, set on the banks of a coarse fishing lake in 15 acres of landscaped heaven! It's a beautiful setting and York with its many attractions, pubs and restaurants is easily accessible by car.

As well as fishing for all ages and abilities, there's lots to do in the Vale of York. Just a few miles away, Allerthorpe Park Watersports offers sailing, kayaking, windsurfing and canoeing - or you could swing from the high wires 40 feet up at Go Ape in Thornton le Dale.

If you're looking for a luxurious lodge with an outdoor hot tub, try Paradise Wood View VIP. It sleeps six people and is tastefully furnished with a verandah and garden furniture. Or if there's a party of you, Kingfisher House sleeps up to ten and has a balcony overlooking the lake plus its own cinema and games room; it's perfect for a big family celebration or special event!

York has much to offer visitors, from the Minster and the racecourse to the dungeons, but a little further afield, you can go rock climbing and bowling at Xscape in Castleford or head to Scunthorpe for some retail therapy.

Our Top Tip
"Knaresborough is a very pretty little market town with a fantastic castle and Ye Oldest Chymist Shoppe in England!"

The Lodge was spotless, everything you needed. Had a problem with the TV but Karen sorted it out for us. Also on our last morning the oven decided to pack up but we reported this as we left.
The setting of the site is lovely, very peaceful and walks around the lake if liked.

Weather was good, the pod was good, fishing was good and well cared for fish and surroundings, the only negative was the wi fi never worked but It didn't spoil the break.
Susie
Fantastic chilled out holiday, peaceful location, helpful staff who just left us to enjoy our stay without being over bearing, clean and comfortable accommodation. Fishing was excellent. The fish were in perfect condition and care for the environment was prioritised. We will be returning soon.

Thanks to the Archaeologists from York Archaeological Trust the amazing houses, workshops and backyards of the Viking-Age city of Jorvik are on display and give a clear insight to the way of life all those years ago.  The site aims to offer an interactive experience with the state of the art time capsule and the blacksmith's furnace being the top attractions.

Dig is a unique and somewhat educational attraction in York offering children the opportunity to enjoy excavation, discovery, and digging. Within the site is a discovery centre, several pits filled with Roman and Medieval ruins and a science lab where children can take part in exciting experiments. Staff are on hand at all times to help the children and to ensure they get the most from the experience. The attraction can get busy during school holidays and pre booking is recommended.
