Allerthorpe Golf and Country Park Reviews

"The sofas had quite a few crumbs under the cushions, but overall, it didn't spoil our visit."
James - Mar 2025
"The lodge was really nice and quite roomy and the hot tub was a lovely touch. Only slight issue with chlorine, but didnt bother us much. Beds were super comfy!"
Emma - Mar 2025
"We had a lovely stay at the lodge! It really had everything we needed and the beds were super comfy. If youre after fluffy pillows, you'll need to bring your own, but thats a small thing. The welcome pack for our dog was a sweet touch - blanket, water bowl, toy and bags, which we appreciated. The style of the lodge was nice, especially walking into the utility room with plenty of space for coats and shoes. Wed definitely come back and recommend it!"
Emma - Mar 2025
"We stayed at Turnberry 14 lodge recently and honestly, it was a pretty great experience. The place was spotless and nicely decorated - just our style. The kitchen had loads of utensils and having a dishwasher plus a washer/dryer was a real plus, especially after days out. A bigger pot wouldve been handy for four of us, but the two smaller ones did the job. They even left some dishwasher tablets, a sponge and a tea towel, which was thoughtful. We did notice a leftover drink bag on the furniture, which couldve been cleared up and we fixed a loose curtain rail ourselves. The gas hob and grill were a bit temperamental at times, but it didnt spoil our stay. Overall, wed happily come back. Thanks!"
Emma S. - Feb 2025
"Our Allerthorpe Golf and Country Park review: The silver VIP lodge was really lovely, such a beautiful space. The beds were super comfy and having an en-suite with a bath was a nice touch. The hot tub was definitely a highlight for us!"
Emily - Feb 2025
"We stayed in a lovely, roomy lodge that felt really comfy. The only hiccup was the shower temperature-probably user error, but it took a bit of fiddling. The hot tub mats looked a bit grimy and the welcome mat was a Christmas one, which was odd since we visited in February. Honestly, just small things, but otherwise, it was a great stay!"
Emma - Feb 2025
"The shower panel was missing a strip, but reception sorted it out fast. Had a good time overall, no complaints."
Emma - Feb 2025
"Really enjoyed the stay, the lodge was perfect for us."
Emma - Jan 2025
"The lodge was spotless and super cosy, though a bit small for longer stays. Our daughter adored the upstairs hideaway."
Emma - Oct 2024
"We faced some problems during our stay. The hot tub was only functional for one night and the lodge wasnt quite as clean as expected, especially for a Gold VIP."
Emma Carter - Oct 2024
"Great stay, super clean and cosy, definitely recommend!"
Emma - Oct 2024
"Really enjoyed the stay, everything was just perfect."
Emma Clarke - Sep 2024
"Comfortable and quite lovely"
Emma - Sep 2024
"Had a lovely short stay here, everyone enjoyed it and wed definitely come back again!"
Jamie - Sep 2024
"We had a fantastic two-night stay here. The lodge was spotless, super comfy and had everything we needed. The hot tub was a real highlight and made our trip extra special. Cant wait to come back!"
Emma S. - Sep 2024
"We had such a lovely stay! Yorkshire is stunning and the site was spotless and well looked after. The Lodge was absolutely fantastic. Highly recommend!"
Emma Clarke - Aug 2024
"We stayed at the lodge recently. Overall, it was quite nice and mostly tidy inside, which we appreciated. However, a microwave would have been handy. The outdoor deck was a bit dirty and the hot tub was quite grimy when we arrived. We requested it to be cleaned, but no one came, so we had to wipe it down ourselves. We only used it twice because of that."
Alex - Jul 2024
"Really pleased with it"
James - Apr 2024
"Honestly, our first impression wasnt great - the shelves downstairs were really dusty, which was a bit off-putting. Everything else looked clean enough, but that dust stuck out. The hot tub was a bit of a disappointment too; it was set at 41 degrees when we arrived. There was a sign saying not to use it if over 40, so we couldnt enjoy it at all during our stay. Bit of a let-down for a short trip like ours."
James - Apr 2024
"We had a fantastic stay! The lodge was super clean and just the right size for four of us plus our dog. The hot tub was a real highlight - so relaxing! The kitchen was fully stocked with everything we needed, making cooking a breeze. Bedrooms and bathrooms were spotless and comfortable. Only minor thing was the shower holder came off since it was a bit rusty, but overall, it was a lovely experience. Wed definitely come back!"
Emma Carter - Apr 2024
"Absolutely loved our stay! The lodge was fantastic, with everything we could possibly want. Honestly, its the best place weve stayed in ages. Cant wait to come back!"
Emma - Feb 2024
"We recently spent a few days at this place over the February half term with our two kids, aged 11 and 9, plus my wife. Honestly, the location is pretty handy - just about 25 minutes from York and less than an hour from Flamingo Land and the East Coast. When we arrived, the reception was super friendly. They handed us a handy map with the barrier code, WiFi password and the key code for our lodge, which made things easy. We headed straight to 27 Royal Westmoorl and Drive, at the back of the site. Admittedly, it was quite waterlogged because of all the recent flooding, but we dont think thats typical for the area. The entire site was really well looked after and our lodge was spotless and cosy. It was warm when we got there, with the beds already made, plus some tea, coffee and biscuits in the kitchen-nice touch! There was also a welcome folder with local info, which we found helpful for planning some outings. The lodge was perfect for the four of us, but I do want to mention that the twin rooms are quite small, with narrow beds. The bathroom setup was a bit misleading - only a toilet and sink off the double room, so the en suite description isnt quite accurate if youre expecting a proper bathroom. Also, there are only four chairs around the dining table; the other two seats are stools, so not really comfortable for everyone and the living room only has enough seats for five people. The hot tub was lovely, but again, its more suited for a family of four rather than six adults, as its a bit tight for more.Ive stayed in quite a few hot tub lodges and my main grumbles are pretty standard - plastic glasses are fine, but larger ones would be a massive improvement. Nothing worse than having to climb out of the hot tub just to refill your drink! Hanging hooks were another small thing - considering the lodge is meant for six people, itd be great to have at least six hooks for towels, rather than just a couple. On the plus side, the WiFi was decent and the smart TV worked well. The flame-effect heater with remote was a nice touch, especially in winter. The kitchen was functional, with a good fridge and freezer and the large gas hob was handy, though a bit of a pain to clean on the glass surface. An iron and ironing board were provided and the place was warm with plenty of hot water, making it a nice, relaxing spot. The surrounding area is peaceful and quiet, perfect for unwinding. We took advantage of the local attractions every day, but only ate in the on-site JJs once in the morning - it seemed quite popular. For quick snacks and essentials, theres a Burger King, KFC and a garage shop just a few minutes drive away. We also drove about 8 minutes to Pocklington, where theres an Aldi and Sainsburys, plus Burnby Hall Gardens - definitely worth a visit if you enjoy walking around and feeding the fish. Overall, we had a lovely stay and despite a few minor niggles, wed happily come back. Its a great spot for a family of four, especially if youre looking for some peace and quiet with easy access to local attractions!"
Emma - Feb 2024
"Overall, we had a lovely stay, though the washer was out of action and some stains on the sheets. Still, it was a pleasant break!"
Emma Carter - Jan 2024
"Really enjoyed the stay"
Oliver - Jan 2024
"Really enjoyed our Christmas break, super relaxing!"
Alex - Jan 2024
"We had such a lovely stay at this lodge! The little touches, like the beautifully decorated Christmas tree and the stocking filled with chocolates, really made it special. The view over the lake was stunning, especially with the fountains running during the festive season - such a nice touch. One thing to keep in mind is to bring your own hairdryer and dressing gown, as these werent provided, though that might be on us for not checking beforehand. Overall, the cabin was spotless and super comfy. Wed definitely go back!"
Emma - Jan 2024
"We had a lovely Christmas here, really enjoyed our stay. The place was gorgeous overall, though we did notice some spots on the carpet werent as clean as wed hoped with little ones around. Still, a great stay!"
Emma - Dec 2023
"We stayed at Turnberry 7 and really enjoyed our time there. The lodge was cosy and well-equipped, with great tech and appliances that made life easy. Its a shame they hadnt decorated it for Christmas; it would have really added to the cosy vibe. The outdoor cushions werent protected from the rain, so they got soaked, which was a bit of a downer. Still, its a warm and comfortable place and wed definitely consider returning. A few small tweaks would make it perfect!"
Harriet - Dec 2023
"Comfortable stay, would recommend it"
Rachel - Nov 2023
"Really enjoyed our stay at Allerthorpe, such a lovely place!"
Emily - Nov 2023
"Excellent holiday park, the lodge, waterside, was in need of some renovations but was clean. You can tell it had been there for some time. All the park handymen were very friendly and helpful, hot tub was checked daily. Over all we would recommend this park."
Linda - Jul 2022
"First time in Yorkshire and what a fabulous setting this was. Accommodation was clean and check in was brilliant. All staff were friendly and JJ's was lovely. Would definitely return when next in Yorkshire."
Mandy - Jul 2022
"Lovely relaxing short break in a fabulous lodge with hot tub set in beautiful surroundings ."
Robert - Jul 2022
"Nice quiet place to stay . Lovely clean accommodation with good facilities and good well kept golf course."
Susan - Jun 2022
"Second time we ve been lodges are clean plenty of space . Lovely surroundings . Had a lovely relaxing weekend"
Elizabeth - Jun 2022
"The park is a relatively new site alongside the golf course. The staff were friendly & helpful, the maintenance staff very efficient. While we were there the week days were quite & relaxing but come the weekend the noise level increases considerably with the extra numbers of holiday makers."
Michael - Jun 2022
"The only downside I have is that the Internet connection was poor therefore we could not watch the TV or play music without it buffering and there is not much signal for mobile phones. I think there could be a welcome pack provided with instructions for the cabin and hot tub"
Wendy - Jun 2022
"Beautiful lodge and excellent food"
Kath - Jun 2022
"We loved the lodge and hot tub very well equipped and spotless. Jj restaurant lovely food good and big portions staff nice. The golf course was really good my grandsons loved it the site is very well mentained and we will definitely be back"
