For those looking for pure relaxation in quality accommodation then Ardgartan Argyll Lodges could be just the ticket.  These lovely lodges enjoy a spectacular location surrounded by mountains in Argyll Forest Park.  You also have the added benefit of being situated on the shores of Loch Long.  As far as settings go they don't get much better than this.

You can really holiday at your own pace here and the self catering lodges give you all the freedom you could want to plan your days.  Just some of the outdoor activities on the doorstep include canoeing, fishing, mountain bike hire, nature trails and even ranger led walks if you want to learn about the area in more detail and find walks you might otherwise have missed.

After a day exploring you can return to your lodge with private hot tub to relax and unwind.  The Silver Birch 2 is a great value lodge sleeping up to 4 with a double bedroom, en suite shower and twin room as well as a family bathroom.  This stylish lodge also comes with a private outdoor hot tub.  Other great options include the Silver Birch 3 which is slightly larger sleeping 6 and the Golden Oak lodges which offer a luxurious base for your stay.

This is our second time in a lodge with hoseason and we will use again.

Lodges were amazing, star spotting at night in a hot tub was the best.

The staff were friendly and helpful and the pizza was to die for... highly recommend.

3 adult males and 3 boys 9, 11 & 13. All loved the cabin and holiday. Place was great for the dog as well. Never cought anything fishing in the salt water loch apart from crabs over 2 days so we drove to fresh water lochs instead. Stayed in the Golden oak 3. Amazing spot on the very front of the loch with amazing views while sitting in the hot tub. Spot was also good for taking the dog straight out. My only gripe is that we could not park the car directly at the door which would have been helpfull for unload and loading of the cars so for that reason took it down to a 9/10 from 10/10. Some properties have parking at the doir but I think you would lose best location on the loch front so would take the location. We were camping the week before and had quite a lot of stuff. Once inside though the place was perfect, overlooking loch and mountains. Staff helpfull and accomodated us with a larger table during a meal and quiz night for my Nephew's birthday after a day of fishing. We ordered a bit late so had missed the cut off time for ordering food by quite a bit and they still made us some pizza and chips to take away, thanks! We went round the wooded areas and a couple of the bike paths. These are great for everyone whether cycle, walk, jog or take dog out walking along river etc. Stunning! Recommend this place for people who want to relax, with or without pets, families who like biking, walking, jogging etc. Fishing was not so great and needed to travel a bit. Kids were "bored" sometimes saying not much to do. The park play area is for smaller children and the wooded area was good for bikes but for playing around we were getting eaten alive by the midgies so was a bit frustrating. Midgies not a problem when in the hot tub.

Love clean flat. Well stocked
Rhona
We have stayed here twice now. We had a lovely time but we would have preferred to have had a cabin with a wood burner. We didn't realise that we wouldn't have one and came prepared but were disappointed that our Golden Oak didn't gave one this time.
Trevor
Fantastic location. First class accommodation.
Roger
Fantastic place in the best surroundings
Nicola
Had a great weekend at these lodges. Very relaxing and quiet. All staff were extremely helpful, apart from a member of staff working in the cafe on the Saturday night. She was very rude to myself and my family, we only wanted a takeaway coffee but it was so much hassle for this member of staff as they were closing in 15mins. She was very rude. Overall we had a great time
Michael
Would've been 10s across the board had there been wifi available in our lodge. Although it was probably a good thing it wasn't there, it kept us away from emails etc
Tony
Excellent lodge. Staff were very thorough and very helpful and friendly

Inveraray Jail - about 11 Miles

This living museum portrays the harsh life inside of a 19th century prison. Travel back in history on a darkly fascinating journey into life in a Victorian prison. In a time when petty theft could have you branded with a hot iron! Watch courtroom trials, talk to the prisoners and see what it was like being locked up in jail. You can also take the ghost tour.
