South West Scotland is renowned for its rugged coastline, quiet sandy beaches, forests, ancient castles and fabulous moorland. These pretty stone cottages are surrounded by beautiful and peaceful countryside, close to the town of Kirkcudbright with its Old Jail, Tolbooth Art Centre and MacLellan's Castle.

Nearby Galloway Forest Park is a 'Dark Sky' park - the inky black nights mean that over 7,000 stars and plants are visible with the naked eye so it's a fabulous place to go star-gazing. You can play nine holes of golf at Craigieknowes, and Laggan Outdoor, just a short distance away, has zip wires, archery, grass sledging, Segway, mountain boarding and clay pigeon shooting.

Galloway Cottages has a stunning choice of accommodation, with cottages that have up to five bedrooms. For a large family party, the Farmhouse sleeps up to ten people - it's spacious, beautifully designed and set over two storeys with an enclosed garden and outdoor hot tub as well as an open plan living area with wood burner.

There are plenty of places to eat and drink - The Masonic Arms in Gatehouse of Fleet is only a few miles away and you can enjoy good food and real ale in this cosy beamed bar.

Our Top Tip
"Kippford is a popular sailing centre with an annual regatta and the beach there is known as Rough Firth; it's made up almost entirely of cockle shells."

Place is spotless- my only concern is nowhere to put rubbish so it is stored in the cottage. Lovely place to relax.

Cottage was lovely and clean our only criticism would be that downstairs we had 2 bed rooms with en-suites and also a big shower room where as up the stairs there were 2 bedrooms with no toilet facilities. The en-suite toilets would have been more useful up the stairs.

Absolutely amazing. So clean and tidy and the hot tub is Sam added bonus. Well worth the money šŸ˜šŸ˜

Lovely place 2nd visit this year - well worth it. Only thing if arriving late in winter is reception closes at 5, would have been nice to know check in process before we got there instead of panicking that we wouldn't be able to get in. Also as we were in 1, had other guests coming to us as well thinking we were reception not realising it was across the road and closed.
Clare
Lovely second visit to the farmhouse. We all love the space and the comfort. The hot tub is great. We will definately return.
Jordan
Brilliant time. Smelled of smoke when we first got into the cottage and we aired it out but it caused alot of people to sneeze all week. Better signage is needed when you come into cottages drive is unlit, And some signs pointing where to go would be useful. Also stayed somewhere before where the hot tub was cleaned every second day. Not sure if it needed it or not but maybe an idea. Fantastic time. Would stay again in future. Helpful staff and lots of space and a smart TV and Wi-Fi and dishwasher. Really good. Above is literally just To Help improve on the experience. Kind regards
Fiona
Fabulous cottages! This is our second time here, and we will definitely be returning.
Claire

JAMES

Darren
Great place to chill out in nice surroundings
John
This cottage was fantastic had everything we needed the hot tub was awesome, Situated around some lovely scenic villages it was November when we were there so very quiet which we preferred so not a problem 2 suggestions another light outside for hot tub and higher wattage in the living area
Lynn
We stayed in the farmhouse in November so apart from the shop everything else was closed (which we knew before booking), hence the score of 5 for facilities. We have already booked up again to stay in May when everything is open.

Fun Days Out near Galloway Cottages

Laggan Outdoor - about 0 Miles

An outdoor activity center suitable for families. Featuring one of Europe's longest zip wires, jeep driving, grass sledging, archery, outdoor scooters. A mix of fun and adreneline rides and a lot more.

Castle Douglas - about 14 Miles
We also recommend a visit to Castle Douglas and the Treasure Hunt Treasure Trails. These treasure hunts are great fun for the whole family and are an entertaining way to explore a new town or village. Children will enjoy solving the clues whilst learning about the history of the area. The walking trail is suitable for wheelchair users and those with pushchairs so no one is left out of the fun.
