South West Scotland is renowned for its rugged coastline, quiet sandy beaches, forests, ancient castles and fabulous moorland. These pretty stone cottages are surrounded by beautiful and peaceful countryside, close to the town of Kirkcudbright with its Old Jail, Tolbooth Art Centre and MacLellan's Castle.

Nearby Galloway Forest Park is a 'Dark Sky' park - the inky black nights mean that over 7,000 stars and plants are visible with the naked eye so it's a fabulous place to go star-gazing. You can play nine holes of golf at Craigieknowes, and Laggan Outdoor, just a short distance away, has zip wires, archery, grass sledging, Segway, mountain boarding and clay pigeon shooting.

Galloway Cottages has a stunning choice of accommodation, with cottages that have up to five bedrooms. For a large family party, the Farmhouse sleeps up to ten people - it's spacious, beautifully designed and set over two storeys with an enclosed garden and outdoor hot tub as well as an open plan living area with wood burner.

There are plenty of places to eat and drink - The Masonic Arms in Gatehouse of Fleet is only a few miles away and you can enjoy good food and real ale in this cosy beamed bar.

Our Top Tip
"Kippford is a popular sailing centre with an annual regatta and the beach there is known as Rough Firth; it's made up almost entirely of cockle shells."

The Cottage was comfortable and quiet. The Hot Tub was excellent but the shower drains within the Cottage were choked causing the shower recess to fill with water when used.

As a guest, you don't expect to unclog the drains but I had no choice due to a nagging wife..

Farmhouse was lovely but maybe do with a good dust/spring clean. Beds, linen and towels all clean. Hot tub was immaculate.

Great holiday. It is the fourth time we have stayed there. Fantastic location and the house is a great size. Only minor niggles were the size of the fridge, which is small for the size of the accommodation and the kitchen could be better equipped.
Caroline
Galloway Cottages with hot tub were absolutely fantastic very clean and tidy ,would definitely recommend to my friends, just a couple of minor things I stayed in cottage number 2 fridge was really small with freezer on top could've done with bigger fridge as there was the another bigger freezer there , the decking outside near the was worn and my grandson got lots of splinters in his feet ,look forward to our next visit 😀😀

Fun Days Out near Galloway Cottages

Laggan Outdoor - about 0 Miles

An outdoor activity center suitable for families. Featuring one of Europe's longest zip wires, jeep driving, grass sledging, archery, outdoor scooters. A mix of fun and adreneline rides and a lot more.

Castle Douglas - about 14 Miles
We also recommend a visit to Castle Douglas and the Treasure Hunt Treasure Trails. These treasure hunts are great fun for the whole family and are an entertaining way to explore a new town or village. Children will enjoy solving the clues whilst learning about the history of the area. The walking trail is suitable for wheelchair users and those with pushchairs so no one is left out of the fun.
