South West Scotland is renowned for its rugged coastline, quiet sandy beaches, forests, ancient castles and fabulous moorland. These pretty stone cottages are surrounded by beautiful and peaceful countryside, close to the town of Kirkcudbright with its Old Jail, Tolbooth Art Centre and MacLellan's Castle.

Nearby Galloway Forest Park is a 'Dark Sky' park - the inky black nights mean that over 7,000 stars and plants are visible with the naked eye so it's a fabulous place to go star-gazing. You can play nine holes of golf at Craigieknowes, and Laggan Outdoor, just a short distance away, has zip wires, archery, grass sledging, Segway, mountain boarding and clay pigeon shooting.

Galloway Cottages has a stunning choice of accommodation, with cottages that have up to five bedrooms. For a large family party, the Farmhouse sleeps up to ten people - it's spacious, beautifully designed and set over two storeys with an enclosed garden and outdoor hot tub as well as an open plan living area with wood burner.

There are plenty of places to eat and drink - The Masonic Arms in Gatehouse of Fleet is only a few miles away and you can enjoy good food and real ale in this cosy beamed bar.

Our Top Tip
"Kippford is a popular sailing centre with an annual regatta and the beach there is known as Rough Firth; it's made up almost entirely of cockle shells."

Cottage was lovely and clean our only criticism would be that downstairs we had 2 bed rooms with en-suites and also a big shower room where as up the stairs there were 2 bedrooms with no toilet facilities. The en-suite toilets would have been more useful up the stairs.

Great weekend. The beautiful weather was an added bonus. Only thing disappointing was the Big Night In Box turned out to be a £10 voucher to spend in the site shop, could have got more for my £10 in my local ASDA stores.

Would recommend to anyone with a family and pets. The hot tub was a welcome resting place for my weary bones lol, the views were amazing, would have liked a proper barbecue although the one use ones were adequate. If your looking for a relaxing family time away give it a go, maybe not great for night life but if you can make your own fun it's ideal!

Dennis
Good location. Ideal walking area.
Jacqueline
Fantastic holiday and great cottage. Staff were always helpful and one of them even loaned us their personal phone charger as we left ours at home so they go the extra mile.
Julie
Excellent organisation and ease of booking. Superb location. Clean cottage with an abundance of space. Carpets on bathroom floors are questionable. Cottage was for 10 and 10 plates/bowls were provided - so a few more for serving would be ideal. Good facilities - however on a holiday weekend the beautiful family bar with scenic views closes mid afternoon for a break??!! Would recommend.
Amanda
Had a really great relaxing holiday here, was good that we could take the dog and have the facilities of the hot tub. There were a few issues with the cottage from the previous guests but these were fixed quickly. Beautiful location, excellent facilities on site. Great takeaway, loved that you got 10% off ordering online.
Jennifer
We had an amazing holiday. The kids were kept entertained the whole week. The hot tub was fantastic and the cottage beautiful and just like home away from home. We would definitly reccommend and return to Galloway Cottages.
Shirley
We had a great time at this cottage it was lovely and had all we needed to enjoy our long weekend. We also used the facilities on the caravan site.
Cara
The farmhouse was ideal for our family. Plenty of room and beds for everyone. Everything was clean and the hot tub was fab. The only thing is the road out front and the fact the hot tub is not hidden from view of the road. The hot tub could also do with a gazebo to use in the usual rainy Scottish weather! Thoroughly enjoyed our stay and the fact you can use the caravan park facilities is great. Fab view over the sea too!
Robert
Had a good holiday plenty to do

Fun Days Out near Galloway Cottages

Laggan Outdoor - about 0 Miles

An outdoor activity center suitable for families. Featuring one of Europe's longest zip wires, jeep driving, grass sledging, archery, outdoor scooters. A mix of fun and adreneline rides and a lot more.

Castle Douglas - about 14 Miles
We also recommend a visit to Castle Douglas and the Treasure Hunt Treasure Trails. These treasure hunts are great fun for the whole family and are an entertaining way to explore a new town or village. Children will enjoy solving the clues whilst learning about the history of the area. The walking trail is suitable for wheelchair users and those with pushchairs so no one is left out of the fun.
