Fabulous Lodge. We were in number 12 which was on one edge of park and felt very private. After 10 years of annual lodge holidays, we all thought this was probably the best lodge we'd stayed in. Loads of space for 4 adults and 2 children. Very comfortable furnishings and of a high standard. Wood burner was an added bonus.

The only thing that could be improved on was more storage in kitchen (1 tiny cupboard for all our food) and grip rail & antislip surface for bath (very difficult for older people or less mobile to get in/out of shower/bath) .

Brilliant holiday and very pleased with the whole experience. I only marked down the comfort and facilities because the electric meter was very loud and interrupted our sleep slightly.

We loved it here! It was peaceful and Birch vip lodge was lovely, immaculate and hot tub very nice. Pool on site was quiet and very adequate and we enjoyed using it. We would definitely come back here 100%. There are shops, a Tesco supermarket within 15 mins drive . It is better to support LOCAL businesses and buy produce from local Llangollen town shops as it helps to keep beautiful places like this as it is.

Stayed here weekend before Xmas, beautiful place! Completely relaxing holiday, we had noisy neighbours the first night but that was nothing to do with the place itself Would definitely return

Lovely relaxing holiday with friends and our children. All four girls loved the site and really want to go back. Great for their bikes and they loved the pool and hot tub.

Great location, nestled a small way off the Horseshoe pass road. Very quiet park with very well spaced out lodges (we didn't see anyone else during our stay!). Lovely 50minute walk along footpath and then canal into Llangollen. We hadn't been to the area before and were really impressed. Very easy to get to as only just into Wales but beautiful countryside on the edge of Snowdonia. Lots to do in the area: great walks direct from lodge; plenty of castles; river Dee & Horseshoe falls (pretty spectacular when we were there as very full after storms); heritage railway; nice pubs etc. Llangollen itself is small & friendly town with plenty of cafes, pubs and gift shops (Corn Mill is great pub with terrace right over river). We will definitely return as such a lovely area. Recommend Britannia Inn for pub food in evening (3 mins drive from park, walkable in summer I guess but not good walk on winter's evening as on road with no path).

We had a lovely stay at Penvale Lake Lodges and would defiantly go back. Lovely clean cottage, fabulous views and the hot tub was perfect. Only thing I would have liked was WIFI access at the cottage, however we knew the cottage had no interest access before we went so in no way did this spoil our trip.

Awesome again can't wait to go back next year!

Fun Days Out near Penvale Lakes Lodges

    Llangollen - about 1 Mile
Llangollen Wharf is one of the major attractions in North Wales and is an excellent place to spend the day as a family. The Wharf is situated in the peaceful market town of Llangollen - now part of a World Heritage Site. Horse Drawn Boat Trips are available along the feeder for the main canal and are a unique way to explore the area. Motorised Aqueduct Cruises are also on offer for those who prefer a slightly faster pace. Both trips allow visitors to take in all the magnificent sites of Llangollen Canal.
    Pen-Y-Ffrith Bird Garden - about 6 Miles
Pen-Y-Ffrith Bird Garden is an 18 acre site, filled with glorious woodland, dramatic gardens, streams, ponds and a 3 acre lake. As the seasons change so do the delights of the park. During springtime the bluebell woods are spectacular while in the summer the bog garden is a favourite attraction with some unusual displays of flora and fauna. In the autumn a walk through the ravine with its flowing waterfalls in not to be missed. There are also several yearly events to enjoy including the Bat walk in September.
Wepre Country Park - about 16 Miles
Wepre Country Park is home to one of the largest play areas in Wales and is perfect for a fun family day out during the summer months. The site has miles of attractive woodland to be explored and cycling and nature trails are very popular ways to see the best of the area. The grounds of the historic estate also have beautiful gardens with stunning floral displays and there is plenty of open space for children to play. An annual events programme ensures that seasonal activities take place regularly including spooky Halloween Walks, Christmas Carol Singing and Ranger led events. There is also a visitor's centre with a small shop.
    St Winefride's Well - about 19 Miles
St Winefride's Well in Flintshire is described at one of the 7 wonders of Wales and is shrouded in mystery and intrigue. Legend has it that the well first erupted at the spot where Caradog cut off the nuns head with his sword. The shrine was then erected in her memory in the first decade of the sixteenth century and remains one of the holiest places in Wales. The stunning temple and well attract visitors from all over the world. Water can be drawn from the spring basin within the crypt and is thought to be lucky.
