1. Berwick in Northumberland
For a holiday park that has the perfect access to historic cities, endless beaches and stunning hills, the Haven holiday park in Berwick is your destination. Right on the border of England and Scotland, your choice of day trips includes taking the dogs for a walk through the gently sloping Cheviot Hills, taking the 90-minute coastal drive up through Scotland to explore the historic sights of Edinburgh, or trying a Quidditch lesson with the kids at Alnwick Castle, the location of early Harry Potter filming.
And if you don’t fancy a full diary of trips, there’s no shortage of fun things to do at the campsite itself. Practice your aim in the archery shooting practice zone, zoom around on a Segway lesson, or spend an afternoon on the 18-hole golf course nearby. And don’t worry, if the Northumberland wind is too cold for you to splash in the sea, then there’s a heated indoor pool inside this Haven Holiday Park, complete with a slide, to keep the kids occupied and the adults toasty and warm.
