Ashby Woulds Lodges and Spa Reviews

"Lovely lodge set in beautiful surroundings with lovely views located near numerous national forests, trusts and childrens activities nearby i highly recommend and I would definitely return"
Julie - Nov 2024
"Large chalet with a big bedroom, loved the air fryer"
Verified Guest - Oct 2024
"The cabin we were in was very warm and inviting. The hot tub was the best and its everything that you needed for a break away or a romantic trip. There was no noise from other's even in the day. It was clean, well equipped and a fantastic pleasure to spend the weekend in cant wait to return already booked."
Verified Guest - Oct 2024
"A couple of things damaged when we got there but nothing major"
Verified Guest - Oct 2024
"Nice lodge but with issues, door not closing properly, decking needs attention, hot tub was cracked and sealed and the jets were not working. We spent more money for the luxury but didn't feel this was up to the evermore collections that we usually get."
Verified Guest - Oct 2024
"Excellent site. Very quiet. Helpful staff. The lodge we stopped in was very spacious and had everything we needed. The hot tub was private and well cover around the edges via a wooden fence. However it was in need of a little bit of TLC. The lock on the main bathroom did not work, the trims on the door were peeling away, there is not rubber seal on the bottom of the shower screen which meant the water came underneath it. All the doors require a little WD40 as they are very creaky and loud. We would have preferred an earlier check in and later check out. That been said, the above did not affect the enjoyability and relaxing state of our stay! I will more than likely return."
Jack - Oct 2024
"Amazing facilities for Lodge was clean very big would definitely recommend it. I am going back again in March."
Verified Guest - Oct 2024
"The lodge was clean to an excellent standard, love it could not fault anything, the surrounding area was good also, location was good had a tea good time, they also had a booklet with a good information for shops, WiFi, hot tub was clean and to a high standard I will be visiting again"
Michelle - Oct 2024
"Lovely weekend stay at Ashby Wounds Lodges. Spacious, clean lodge, just a few snags (dishwasher was out of order, a couple of lights in one of the bedrooms didn't work, kitchen blind had come away from the wall), but this didn't spoil our stay at all. Hot tub was perfect temperature mid-evening on our first night. Spa treatments were amazing. Location peaceful, our lodge overlooked the canal which was a bonus. A short drive away from supermarkets, and lots of lovely walks around. Would definitely return."
Verified Guest - Sep 2024
"Just dirty, not looked after. And was just upmostly the worst holiday I have ever been one."
Verified Guest - Aug 2024
"Ive just returned from a weekend at the Ashby Woulds Lodges and Spa with my husband, our young baby (10m) and my parents. Our lodge was exactly as described and pictured and we were not disappointed. We had a good communal area with the living room, kitchen and dining area being the hub for us. We also had a nice barbecue area outside, as well as a private decking and a (clean!) hot tub. What we really enjoyed was how quiet it was - we were in the lodge right next to reception with the car park so worried about noise a bit but it was very peaceful. The bedrooms and bathroom were pretty basic but exactly as pictured so it was what we were expecting! The staff were absolutely incredible! I accidentally booked the wrong arrival date and they were so wonderful sorting this out for us. We also had trouble working the oven and they had somebody round in ten minutes to have a look and help us. They really were lovely! We were staying for a wedding and had a group of friends staying in another lodge too. My advice when booking is to check the pictures as they are very accurate - some have deckings with a view of the water, some dont have outdoor hot tubs etc. Overall we were happy with our stay at the lodge!"
Emily - Aug 2024
"Everything great"
Safiq - Jul 2024
"Really nice and clean. We really enjoyed our stay."
Chris - Jul 2024
"Accommodation is tired and needs refreshed. We were told on arrival that the hottub had developed a leak that afternoon, and Hosaesons just told the site that only alternative was to cancel the holiday or switch off the hottub, but they refuse to ruin someone's holiday, as the hottub is usable just needing top up as required, they are letting us stay and they will top it up each morning. I think this is the story that is given to every new arrival at Lodge number 3.Considering we paid nearly £700 for 7 nights in a lodge described as Deluxe, we had:The two bathrooms have patches of mould. The decking is rotting to the point of being unsafe. When it rains, decking is a slip hazard. The main bathroom shower screen is missing the seal between the bath so the floor floodsThe other shower has poor pressure. The walls have numerous holes and scrapes. The couch is stained. The carpet is worn and coming away at the joins. The dishes were dirty on arrival, we used the dishwasher which doesn't wash properly, resulting in having to hand wash all week. The washing machine leaves a distinct smell, even after buying and using a washing machine cleaner."
Paul - Jul 2024
"Lodge number 1"
Anthony - Jul 2024
"Lodges could do with a little revamping in places and privacy fence round hottub could be a bit higher but overall lovely relaxing accommodation"
Verified Guest - Jul 2024
"The lodge was very nice. It was a 3 bedroom lodge each with its own bathroom. The man welcomed us and we were happy during our stay."
Michelle - Jun 2024
"Sofa needs replacing and main double door didn't lock"
Diane - Jun 2024
"Spacious, clean, fully equipped. There was nothing I needed that was not already supplied. Comfy bed and pillows, lots of towels and dressing gowns for use at the hot tub, which was ready to go on my arrival."
Allan - Jun 2024
"Quiet park with good lodges and hot tubs, spacious rooms and bedrooms with an ensuite and separate bathroom. Good size living area, kitchen and dining area, large patio doors (2 sets) opening onto a decked area with outdoor furniture."
Sara - Jun 2024
"The lodges need updating. They look really tired. On our last day we had to be out for 09:30 which is fine but the staff was outside our lodge emptying our hot tub right outside our window to the bedroom at about 8:30 when we where trying to get ready. Why can't they wait until we are gone, like everywhere else."
Jake - May 2024
"Absolutely lovely place with great facilities. The camp site is beautiful and very quiet. We had an issue with the hot tub not working and a guy came down within the hour to fix it. The rooms are really spacious and the place was very clean. They dont post the kitchen utensils online so we were very unsure of what to bring but its a fully equipped kitchen with everything you need from wine glasses to a siv, cheese grater and even place mats for the table. They provide washing up supplies, as well as supplies for a washing machine and dishwasher. Milk was provided in the fridge and tea and coffee. The only thing you will need to bring is toilet roll as we werent given full rolls and they didnt last long. Everything looked lovely and we had everything we needed, thoroughly enjoyed our weekend here."
Amber - May 2024
"Good overall"
Fred - May 2024
"After spending 4 days here, I absolutely fell on my feet with the weather! Every day was bright, beautiful sunshine, which made my stay extra special. Overall, I had a lovely, relaxing stay in beautiful countryside, seeing lots of wildlife, sunsets and peacefulness. The lodge itself ( Altham ) is in a wonderful spot, overlooking two fishing lakes and in the top corner. All day sunshine and not overlooked in most areas. Facilities were wonderful, the freestanding bath tub being my favourite as well as the bright pink chaise longe! However, I do think the lodge (now obviously a good few years old) needs tlc. There were more than a few things that need attention. There was a loose decking board just next to the steps which could have been lethal, no planting next to the lodge ( just bare soil ) which was disappointing and the lack of a gate which would have afforded much more privacy whilst in the hot tub ( which desperately needs replacing !! ) I do think as a seasoned lodge stayer, this is the oldest hot tub I've used. The jets were not great, barely bubbling and I couldn't get the light to work. The keypad very worn. The lid was ridiculously heavy for just a lone lady traveller for most of my stay and hose pipes just left strewn on the decking which was an obvious hazard and unnecessary. So, to be honest the hot tub wasn't used much as it just didnt feel as luxurious as it should. It was checked at strange times too, like mid afternoon one day which I've never experienced before. Going back to the tlc, please, please bin the pillows!!!! All 4 were like wafers, just absolutely past their best! Giving me neck ache despite using two! Other than that, the bed was comfy. Blinds need replacing too as one was broken whilst the other barely closed, so light streamed in early morning. The bathroom was wonderful, but the vanity unit was very tired and the laminate coming away. The kitchen was well equipped, clean but very smeary on the glass hob when I arrived. Pans etc were not great quality and again, tired. Bigger bowls were needed as eating cereal out of a dolls teaset bowl was ridiculous!! The mugs were also not all matching which is a shame.Maybe a speaker to link phones to, and a chrome cast TV would have made my stay better too. I think for this price point, mod cons should be available. There were so many beautiful walking routes to explore, a caf within a ten minute walk, co op 2mins drive away, everything is there for a wonderful stay but like I say, there were a few things that need attention with the lodge, that and the very late checkin time of 5pm and early 9.00am check out which makes me shy from the full 5 stars."
Verified Guest - May 2024
"A very nice lodge, with sufficient equipment for 6 guests & very clean & well maintained throughout. The addition of a hot tub was very welcome as we had good weather during our stay."
Elaine - May 2024
"Beautiful lodge. Hot tub was clean and perfect temperature. Nice quiet location"
Clair - Apr 2024
"All enjoyed our stay but wished the spar had been up and running. Very good location and lodge was very well equipped and clean. Very good value for money."
Julie - Jul 2022
"Nice 4 day break very relaxing."
Ronald - Jul 2022
"Lovely lodge you could have been a million miles away so peaceful and quiet."
Tracy - Jul 2022
"Amazing pleace 100%"
Katarzyna - Jul 2022
"We had a lovely break the lodge was spotlessly clean lovely soft towels provided, plenty of wardrobe space in both rooms. The beds were comfy. Hot tub checked and cleaned each day. My only negative is the kitchen knives were very blunt so struggled to even slice a tomato but that's the only negative I could state we had a lovely time and would definitely go back again."
Kerry - Jul 2022
"My third time here and I absolutely love it!"
Verified Guest - Jun 2022
"loved it will defiantly return again"
Kelly - Jun 2022
"Beautiful lodge in very peaceful setting. Nice walk along the lake/river. Hot tub was fab. Ian the staff was so helpful. A really lovely break."
Verified Guest - Jun 2022
"This is our second stay at Ashby woulds and we would stay again. The local area is nice with things to do- it’s close enough to town for takeaways or dinner out and the lodges are in a nice private gated park which made us feel safe. It’s very laid back and quiet and the hot tub is lovely!"
