Warren Lodges (formerly Herbage Country Lodges) have a stunning location amidst the lush rolling landscape of the ancient Saxon County of Essex. This location is ideal for those wishing to explore the many delights of Constable Country. The contemporary lodges are dotted around a peaceful 48 acres site in an area abundant with wildlife and beautiful flora and fauna. Nature lovers will be in their element as rabbits and squirrels run free and native deer graze right on the doorstep.

Each lodge has been carefully furnished to meet the needs of the most discerning visitor. The well designed interiors afford plenty of space and superb comfort with large windows making the most of the beautiful uninterrupted country views. Generous external decking areas are appointed to each lodge and all have high quality outdoor furniture from which to enjoy the views.

The local area is home to a diverse mix of stunning landscapes from lush rolling hills and picture postcard villages, to sandy beaches and trendy marinas. The popular resort of Burnham on Crouch is often referred to as the 'Cowes of the East' and is alive with yachts in boating season. The nearby town of Chelmsford is only 6 miles away and you can be in London in less than an hour.

All of Warren Lodges are outstanding and combine contemporary design with comfort. The Bramley Lodge sleeps up to 4 and has an open plan interior and outside decking area. The Worcester is similar and also features a private hot tub. The Russet is a good choice for larger families and has one double bedroom and two twin as well as an outside hot tub. The Lord Lambourne is the top of the range lodge and offers the ultimate in luxury family accommodation with three bedrooms and additional family bathroom as well as hot tub.

Herbage Country Lodges Reviews

Mr & Mrs Robson
We like to have a couple of lodge holidays each year if we can and the whole family agree that this holiday was one of our favorites. The site is immaculate and the lodges large and very comfortable. Having an indoor pool is a real bonus if the weather is not great. The lodges were well spread out so you didnt feel overlooked and there was loads of space for the kids to play ball games. We thought about going in to London for a day as it is not far away but in the end Chelmsford was as far as we got. This town does have some good shops though. We never visit the same place twice but might make an exception for Herbage lodges.

Really nice place but we were under the impression when booking that the club house and park was near but unfortunately it was a car journey down the road and was not able to walk it with small children. The food and staff there was lovely just wished we could have used it more also when booking we were emailed to say there was a £100 deposit to pay but then on reception we was asked for £250 which would have been embarrassing if we did not have it .
Paul
Great location, good clean facilities and very helpful staff. Will definitely be returning.
Jane
Fantastic lodge, fantastic location, enjoyed very much .
Rachael
Really happy with the lodge, clean, spacious and kitchen is well equipped. Our bolier stopped working however maintainence came within 45 mins. Similar to other reviews, the matress on the double bed is not that comfortable. The beds in the other rooms were fine. We would stay there again.
Corrine
The lodge was great but does need blinds in the bedrooms. Once it was bright everyone was awake
Brenda
Fantasic lodge in lovely surroundings. We found Malden to be a lovely town and enjoyed our time there, having visited 2 great museums, one in town the Combined Services Museum and the World War I air base just outside town. We would definitely like to return some time in the future.
Anthony
not happy that we hate to pay more as it was in the school holiday time....
Claire
We really enjoyed our holiday. Unfortunately, some building work began close to our lodge every morning, sometimes as early as 7.30. The Lodge itself could have done with some updating as things like light bulbs which needed to be replaced and scuffs in the wallpaper gave an overall impression that it needed some repairs. We couldn't get the boiler to work when we first arrived and this was dealt with swiftly and unobtrusively, however, the reception staff were variable and didn't really give a particularly friendly welcome or farewell.

Fun Days Out near Warren Lodges

Great Notley Park - about 10 Miles
This attraction is currently under construction but we are looking forward to it opening in early 2011.  The philosophy of the Discovery Centre is 'healthy body, healthy mind, healthy planet and aims to change people's attitudes and actions towards our planet.  Educational as well as fun there are plenty of activities such as outdoor sport pitches, cycle and walking trails and indoor activity rooms.  This is a unique attraction for the whole family.
Colchester Zoo - about 13 Miles
Colchester Zoo is a fantastic place to visit with something for all the family.  Wander around and see the array of animals in excellent habitats.  Don't forget to visit the Leopards at Ussuri Falls, this new expansion can be located opposte the White Tiger Valley and the Medellin Momkeys.  Other popular areas of the zoo include Tiger Taiga, Chimp World and Wallaby Walkabout.   Look out for special events throughout the year such as Shriek Week on Halloween.  If you book tickets online you can obtain a discount of 10% and are also fast tracked on entry to the zoo - a great idea in the school holidays.
Adventure Island - about 14 Miles
Adventure Island costs nothing to enter and there is an array of rides and attractions on offer. The Big Adventure rides include the Dragon's Claw, Rage and Vortex.  For younger children there is just as much fun on offer with rides like the Cow Jump, Over the Hill and Dragon. Mini Rides include the Choo Choo Train, Crooked House and Flying Jumbos.  When you have ran out of energy you could have a wander round the gift shop and perhaps buy a souvenir of your day.
