Border Forest Lodges have a simply stunning location on the edge of gorgeous Kielder Forest! The lodges offer the perfect place for a relaxing holiday and are also well suited to those who enjoy outdoor pursuits. The site itself is small, friendly and welcoming and we recommend it to families, couples and groups of friends seeking a tranquil holiday base.

Close by the Northumberland National Park is the place to go for walking, cycling, fishing and water sports. The park is also popular with photographers and nature lovers due to the spectacular scenery and diverse wildlife in the region. Families looking for fun days out could head to Alnwick Castle which Harry Potter fans will recognise from the movies! This historic caste boasts a deer park, stunning gardens and children will love visiting the owls.

If a lodge with a hot tub is a top priority then the Goshawk is the one to go for. This modern and very spacious timber clad holiday home is beautifully furnished and very well equipped. There are two bedrooms, an open plan living area, external decking and gorgeous views of the brook.

Our Top Tip
"Take a picnic to the beautiful Alnwick Castle."

Just the perfect tranquil setting. Amazing views. Great walks and trails.
Dark skies are just breath taking.

We stopped in the Little owl lodge and it was fantastic! It catered for all our needs.
The hot tub was a real treat and we had a private garden which was an added bonus for our doggy !

10/10 for cleanliness and the park staff were so friendly and helpful.

Thank you so much for an amazing time.

We shall be back!

We had a lovely time in Heron Lodge. Located 5 miles from the Scottish border and 10 miles to the nearest English village. Such a peaceful place and the owners are lovely. The hot tub was made full use of including in the middle of a snow storm and was just gorgeous. If you get chance do take a trip to the Kielder Observatory, even if the weather is cloudy its still an interesting night.

The lodge was very comfortable and warm. Well equipped and clean. It could have however benefited from an additional shower as one shower for three bedrooms is not enough.

Very nice, very private and very quiet.
Very dog friendly and as our little four legged friend was an add on, the owners were very accommodating.

We were looking for a relaxing break and found it at this quiet and secluded site.

The lodges are very well maintained and set out beautifully with everything you need catered for. There's no shops around, the nearest village is 9 miles away, Ideal for getting away from it all.
Paul
Lovely surrounding and accommodation, great kiylder forest and wildlife. Great all round stay and staff.

We absolutely loved our time here. Surrounding by stunning scenery and breathtaking views whilst lying in our hot tub just topped it off. We have booked up to go and would highly recommend it to everyone
Rachel
Really great accommodation, the little owl lodge was just perfect for the two of us (plus our pooch). It was really clean and comfortable, with everything possible you need for self catering. The hot tub was a bonus and we used this every evening. There was a gate on the veranda and a small enclosed garden area, so it was secure for our dog.
Ruth
We've been staying at the Border Forest Lodges about twice a year for the past 7 years. Simply stunning surroundings, peace and tranquillity. The lodges are beautiful and the new door onto the patio is great (well done). In fact its home from home. The only downside is that the price has risen dramatically over the last few years.

Fun Days Out near Border Forest Lodges

Housing the most fascinating collection of Birds of Prey in the North East this centre is definitely worth a visit if you are staying in the Kielder Water area. Located in Falstone it's easy to get to and makes a great day out for both families and couples.  As well as seeing the amazing birds you can learn all about the captive breeding programme and the excellent work being done there.  Some of the highlights of the day might include watching a Falcon stoop down from the skies at over 100mph and admiring the grace of the Eagles, Kites and Hawks.
Cragside House and Gardens (National Trust) are a popular Northumberland attraction with a beautiful stately home and gorgeous grounds to explore. The rhododendron labyrinth is a unique and fun addition to the grounds and there is also an adventure playground where children can let of steam. It is the stunning scenery that attracts most of the visitors though with many bringing a picnic for a relaxing family day out. The house itself hosts exhibits which change regularly. World of the Water Wizard is currently on display.
