Border Forest Lodges have a simply stunning location on the edge of gorgeous Kielder Forest! The lodges offer the perfect place for a relaxing holiday and are also well suited to those who enjoy outdoor pursuits. The site itself is small, friendly and welcoming and we recommend it to families, couples and groups of friends seeking a tranquil holiday base.

Close by the Northumberland National Park is the place to go for walking, cycling, fishing and water sports. The park is also popular with photographers and nature lovers due to the spectacular scenery and diverse wildlife in the region. Families looking for fun days out could head to Alnwick Castle which Harry Potter fans will recognise from the movies! This historic caste boasts a deer park, stunning gardens and children will love visiting the owls.

If a lodge with a hot tub is a top priority then the Goshawk is the one to go for. This modern and very spacious timber clad holiday home is beautifully furnished and very well equipped. There are two bedrooms, an open plan living area, external decking and gorgeous views of the brook.

Our Top Tip
"Take a picnic to the beautiful Alnwick Castle."

Had a lovely time. The lodge is beautiful and the surrounding areas just amazing. Endless amount of walks. The owners are lovely and if we had any queries they were always there to help.

A beautiful Lodge and surroundings, but a little remote for our liking - a simple trip out for milk was 30miles round journey.
The hot tub was bliss.
Remember to pack your Midge spray!
Missed having Wi-Fi.

Slightly disappointed that we could hear traffic (especially motor bikes and lorries) from the main road. However, this did not spoil anything but would have preferred a quieter location. Enjoyed our stay!

This was the first time we stayed in a lodge and were really impressed by the space and airiness of the cabin. Everything we needed was provided and in good condition.
The hot tub was an added bonus.

Absolutely loved it here! The lodge was welcoming & well equipped. The hot tub was just the thing after a long day out walking or mountain biking. Comfy beds, dishwasher (can't do without). I personally was glad we had no mobile signal or internet (we run our own business so it was a refreshing change not to be contactable) The staff were friendly & welcoming without being overly intrusive. Nothing was too much trouble. Loved, loved, loved feeding all the animals (even went out for more veg because they'd eaten all our leftovers. Our dogs had a blast too. Plenty of open space for them to explore. Can't not give a good review but secretly wishing that I could then it would remain the hidden gem that it is

A very good lodge with all the facilitates that you could want, even a dishwasher .The hot tub certainly was an added bonus,it even had a pair of binoculars to view the dark night sky ! If you want a quiet holiday away from it all, this is the place.the only downside is that there is no WIFI but the owners are trying their best to rectify this with BT.

Fun Days Out near Border Forest Lodges

Housing the most fascinating collection of Birds of Prey in the North East this centre is definitely worth a visit if you are staying in the Kielder Water area. Located in Falstone it's easy to get to and makes a great day out for both families and couples.  As well as seeing the amazing birds you can learn all about the captive breeding programme and the excellent work being done there.  Some of the highlights of the day might include watching a Falcon stoop down from the skies at over 100mph and admiring the grace of the Eagles, Kites and Hawks.
Cragside House and Gardens (National Trust) are a popular Northumberland attraction with a beautiful stately home and gorgeous grounds to explore. The rhododendron labyrinth is a unique and fun addition to the grounds and there is also an adventure playground where children can let of steam. It is the stunning scenery that attracts most of the visitors though with many bringing a picnic for a relaxing family day out. The house itself hosts exhibits which change regularly. World of the Water Wizard is currently on display.
