Hengar Cottages Reviews

"Lovely one bedroom cottage set in lovely setting with all mod cons. Really helpful and pleasant staff who even managed to help my husband with fridge measurements! Don’t ask ! Wonderful size fridge for cold beers to keep your man happy ?thank you all for a great week exploring all of Cornwall"
Catherine - Jul 2022
"Hengar Manor Holiday Park had been given a makeover over winter with a new reception area and restaurant. The cottage itself had been painted throughout and the bathroom looked newly installed and painted. The kitchen was a good size and well supplied with all we could need for our stay We had a lovely stay in premier 1 cottage and had got at at an amazing price as we has booked the year before"
Alison - Jul 2022
"Was a lovely stay, staff very friendly and helpful. Pool and golf very clean and good fun. The house was nice but needs some attention to the outside area - untidy & over grown and cigarette butt's on the floor. The front door also had a cracked window. We had no hot water in the kitchen but once reported to Reception it was sorted instantly! Couldn't fault the service. I wouldn't bother with the pub/restaurant, food and service needs alot of improvement. Over all we had a lovely stay and the area is ideal to visit to local places."
Daniel - Jun 2022
"Staff were really friendly and helpful and made a real fuss of our dog Mylo. Food was lovely and a sensible price and location was a reasonable distance to a lot of places."
Karl - Oct 2021
"Beautiful surroundings. Clean and helpful staff . Great holiday."
Helen - Oct 2021
"Fabulous little cottage with hot tub. Very relaxing and overall an enjoyable experience."
Sarah - Sep 2021
"Cottage was lovely although the storage heaters were not working but staff were really helpful and gave us some plug in heaters, everything was in there what we needed and it was a beautiful location,"
Karen - Sep 2021
"No signal on the TV. Reception promised to look into it but nothing resolved and no update given. Towels supposed to be provided according to website but not in appartment on arrival. Again reception said they would sort things but they did not. Found someone in the bar who sorted it out for us as reception shut earlier than published hours."
Gail - Jul 2020

"We had a fabulous time, really got to chill out. Hot tub was amazing, perfect temperature at all times. Cottage was lovely, although mattress on double bed could do with being replaced. Visited Port Isaac, beautiful place, be warned lots of up hill walking! Already looking to rebook for next year."
Kerry - Oct 2017

Janet - Jun 2017
"Lovely accommodation. Spacious, warm and comfortable."
Rianna - Apr 2017
"This apartment was better than I expected. We needed a three bedroom with an ensuite as we took our foster child and my mum who obviously needed their own rooms. Plenty on space for all of us."
Lisa - Apr 2017
"We stayed in Minions Cottage at the beginning of November. The cottage was really good and great value for money but there were a few basic niggles which if resolved would make it a gem of a cottage...
1)Mattresses were at the end of their life - no one got a decent nights sleep on them.
2)There were 5 of us on holiday my husband and I, my parents and my daughter so the parents had the double bed and my husband and I slept in separate beds for the holiday as the twin bed frames left too big a gap between to push them together !
3) There was absolutely no where to hang things eg there was no where for soggy coats to go(a must in November) , no hooks in the bathroom for a dressing gown or jim jams or clean clothes to hang without getting wet from the shower and no where to hang towels or robes outside for when using the hot-tub.
The hot tub and the log burner were great features and were well used. The kitchen utensils were well stocked for cooking if we didn't fancy driving at night to eat out (or using the on site bar for food) and the cottage itself was warm and heated all the way through.
All in all it was a lovely cottage on a good site ( i marked the site facilities down a little as we stayed out of season and the onsite shop and pizza place were closed so was only able to score on the areas we saw) and if the niggles at the start of the review were resolved it would be an absolute treasure of a cottage."
Penny - Nov 2016
"Great little place. Beautiful decor, very comfortable, LOVED the open fire and hot tub! The only thing I would suggest for improvement so we could say it was perfect is to have better/fluffier pillows. (I know we are being pedantic and it's not really a complaint, I would just take my own pillow next time).
We would HIGHLY recommend to our friends and family to stay here and we would happily go back ourselves."
Gemma - Nov 2016
"Could have done with the use of a coffee table in the lounge"
Maggie - Oct 2016
"As we had my elderly mother with us we knew Merrymeet was close to the entertainment venue and car parking, as we have stayed there before. And we wanted a hot tub."
Beverley - Sep 2016
"We had a lovely stay"
Alison - Aug 2016
"The cottage was great everything that we needed spot on."
Mandy - Sep 2015
"The bed could have been more comfortable it was a slated bed we had to repair it before we could sleep in it."
Beverley - Sep 2015
"Cottage was very clean and comfortable for a base to explore Cornwall. Really only used it for a base to explore beaches and for sightseeing so only used swimming pool once for on site facilities. Hot tub was a joy to come back to each night."
Phillip - Jul 2015
"Great place for exploring the north cornwall coast."
Verified Guest - Jun 2015
"The Cottage (The Nest) was small but perfectly formed. It had been recently re-decorated and was lovely with a comfy bed and a log burner, a nice new kitchen and bathroom and lovely decoration. Outside there were flowers and shrubs and a small tabel and chairs.

I've given 8/10 for location not because of the location of the park which was great for visiting N Cornwall but for the location of the cottage on the park. It was very near the entertainment centre and was pretty noisy at night from the loud music being played in the club house. The Saturday night I arrived was unbearable. I mentioned it to reception and they were very apologetic and it wasn't bad for the rest of the holiday but I could still hear it and bought earplugs to go to bed. I would still stay there again though, it was lovely, but would make sure I packed my ear plugs."
Jane - May 2015
"Recently renovated so was lovely and clean and new. Had all the basics you'd need for a few days away. Beds were comfortable and a good size too, just a shame the cot provided was so tiny and it was far too small for our 12 month old."
