Hengar Cottages, set within Hengar Manor Country Park, has a fabulous range of facilities, including two exceptional restaurants  and a lounge bar. These beautifully restored cottages are surrounded by 35 acres of parkland and some of North Cornwall's best surfing beaches are no more than 20 minutes away.

With Tintagel, Port Isaac and Boscastle within 15 miles, you can also enjoy the indoor leisure centre on the park with its huge swimming pool, slide and water features. There's a sauna and spa offering beauty treatments as well as a hard tennis court, fencing, coarse fishing, a nine hole pitch and putt course and a woodland adventure playground!

Merrymeet is a delightful single storey cottage that sleeps four people with one double bedroom and one twin room. The bathroom has a bathtub and an overhead shower and there is a cosy open plan living/dining area and a separate, well equipped kitchen. The patio area has garden furniture and a private hot tub.

North Cornwall is full to the brim with visitor attractions - King Arthur's Castle at Tintagel is worth a visit, and Bude Castle often stages outdoor concerts and events.

Our Top Tip
"The 700 year old harbour at Port Isaac is well worth seeing and a trip to the Monkey Sanctuary at Looe is a great chance to support the welfare and conservation of the primates."

This apartment was better than I expected. We needed a three bedroom with an ensuite as we took our foster child and my mum who obviously needed their own rooms. Plenty on space for all of us.

Great little place. Beautiful decor, very comfortable, LOVED the open fire and hot tub! The only thing I would suggest for improvement so we could say it was perfect is to have better/fluffier pillows. (I know we are being pedantic and it's not really a complaint, I would just take my own pillow next time).
We would HIGHLY recommend to our friends and family to stay here and we would happily go back ourselves.

We stayed in Minions Cottage at the beginning of November. The cottage was really good and great value for money but there were a few basic niggles which if resolved would make it a gem of a cottage...
1)Mattresses were at the end of their life - no one got a decent nights sleep on them.
2)There were 5 of us on holiday my husband and I, my parents and my daughter so the parents had the double bed and my husband and I slept in separate beds for the holiday as the twin bed frames left too big a gap between to push them together !
3) There was absolutely no where to hang things eg there was no where for soggy coats to go(a must in November) , no hooks in the bathroom for a dressing gown or jim jams or clean clothes to hang without getting wet from the shower and no where to hang towels or robes outside for when using the hot-tub.
The hot tub and the log burner were great features and were well used. The kitchen utensils were well stocked for cooking if we didn't fancy driving at night to eat out (or using the on site bar for food) and the cottage itself was warm and heated all the way through.
All in all it was a lovely cottage on a good site ( i marked the site facilities down a little as we stayed out of season and the onsite shop and pizza place were closed so was only able to score on the areas we saw) and if the niggles at the start of the review were resolved it would be an absolute treasure of a cottage.

As we had my elderly mother with us we knew Merrymeet was close to the entertainment venue and car parking, as we have stayed there before. And we wanted a hot tub.

The bed could have been more comfortable it was a slated bed we had to repair it before we could sleep in it.

Perfect location for our first holiday with our baby boy. The cottage was well equipped and very relaxing. We enjoyed the hot tub.
Janet
A clean and comfortable cottage in a lovely area. We did not use the facilities on site but for any one with children etc. all the entertainment was there.
Robert
we had a week in 'the nest'. its basic but nice, the log fire really warms the place on a cool evening. the only downside was the music from the entertainment is far too intrusive and goes on too late for a property so close to the main building. the main building is quite bleak looking with a post modernist hint of cow shed. the facilities inside however are quite good. the bar has a distinct 'Bernie inn' 80's theme with authentic sticky tables and torn carpet. staff were all helpful though so it made up for its shortcomings. there were a couple of abandoned vehicles on the car park too, which seemed to have been there a while, particularly the vw golf which had green goo growing on the bonnet. all the ducks are quite tame and theres lots of bunnies to amuse children.
Lisa
Pleasantly surprised. The apartment was fantastic. Very roomy and recently decorated. The staff were very helpful in reception and in the bar/restaurant. I would definately recommend it and would stay there again. We stayed in the Secret Garden as needed a three bedroom. Another thing that was lovely was that everyone was enjoying the outdoors.

My third year holidaying at Hengar and we'all be back again 2018!!
David
We had a very enjoyable holiday. The cottage was cute and equipment was pretty much all that was needed. Staff were very friendly. Hot tub was great and we were lucky with weather. Site is in a lovely setting. One or two areas look a bit tired but a lovely break had by all.
Jo
Lovely cottage, spotlessly clean & very nicEly furnished. Great entertainment, my children loved it & want to go back.
Steve
Lovely cottage. Enjoyed the wood burner and hot tub. Think the shop should be open if the site is and be allowed to check in during daylight, especially when you need to fetch firewood

Fun Days Out near Hengar Cottages

Tintagel Castle - about 7 Miles
Tintagel Castle is one of the most iconic landmarks in Cornwall and is an excellent place for a family day out. Situated on the stunning Cornish Coast the Castle has a mystical and magical presence and is steeped in historical importance. Indeed the Legend of King Arthur was born right here. The Castle and grounds also provide a home for many species of wildlife as well as some amazing flora and fauna. The site also has a small visitor's centre with souvenir shop and a wonderful Beach Café.
The Eden Project - about 13 Miles
The Eden Project is a fantastic local attraction in Cornwall which will appeal to families and couples.  From the moment you step through the entrance it's clear that this is no ordinary attraction.  All under one roof you will find a giant rainforest, Horticulture courses, rock climbing, ice skating and an arts cafe.  Not all of these activities are on at one time, they are staggered throughout the year so check out the website to see what's available when you plan to visit.  Autumn at Eden is very popular with events such as daily apple pressing and Time Changing Tales (story telling with an autumn theme).
Trethorne Leisure Park - about 13 Miles
Trethrone Leisure Park in Cornwall is a popular choice for a family day out and offers an excellent programme of activities for children all year round. The park has a farm area where younger kids will love feeding the lambs and other friendly animals. Pony rides, a large play area, ball pool; trampolines and crazy golf are also available.
Springfields Fun Park & Pony Centre offers a day full of action and adventure for all the family come rain or shine. If the weather is good then children can take advantage of the vast open space to run around and play, enjoy pony rides, train rides, trampolines and Go-Karts and explore the nature trails. If the weather is not on your side then the huge play barn is the place to head and as climbing frames, slides, ball pool and rope swings as well as a baby and toddler area.
