BRYN MECHEL

With a beautiful location in North Wales, Bryn Mechell lodges (some with private hot tubs) are the ideal escape for both families and couples.  The Snowdonia National Park with it's mountains and sparkling lakes is on the door step with an abundance of outdoor activities, or you could simply relax and watch the sun set and take in the amazing views.

THE BEACH HOUSE

A stylish, single-storey detached beach house, with an outdoor hot tub, superbly located overlooking the pebbly Porth Yr Afon beach, on the picturesque Isle of Anglesey. With the beach literally footsteps away, this wonderful cottage provides the perfect seaside holiday home, all year round.

ANGLESEY HOLIDAY LET

Engulfed by the lush countryside setting of Anglesey and a stone’s throw away from the popular seaside village of Rhosneigr is this superb annexe-style accommodation, Pensarn. This is a great find for couples or solo travellers seeking to explore this glorious part of the country, where you will find a plethora of things to do within the immediate area.

Holyhead is a vibrant town in North Anglesey surrounded by the gorgeous Welsh countryside. Its Irish ferry port and shopping opportunities create a bustling, thriving feel, making this a great location for a staycation.

Out and about

There are plenty of places to take a stroll and do some leisurely shopping. Pick up a trinket for yourself at Shabby Cottage or The Other Side, or find a sweet treat at The Chocolate Box. There is also a plethora of clothing shops for those wanting to replenish their wardrobe.

Take a walk to Newbry Beach to the Maritime Museum, situated in the oldest lifeboat station in Wales, for an intriguing insight into the area’s nautical history. Exhibits inside include stories of pirates and shipwrecks, as well as artefacts from both World Wars and an air raid shelter. Down by the coast, Holyhead Marina and the Breakwater are two impressive sights, both of which are photo worthy. This area is also perfect for idly sitting and watching the boats.

Skinner’s Monument is an interesting piece of artwork that marks a fascinating part of Holyhead’s marine history. Captain Skinner is a revered figure in the area’s history, as he famously navigated his ship into the harbour during a fierce gale. Another iconic landmark is St Cybi’s Church, which not only has intricate architecture but also has a great view of the harbour and monument.

A 20-minute drive away is the seaside village of Rhosneigr. There is a lovely sandy beach that stretches across a wide expanse, making it ideal for a beach day. Enjoy a drink at the end of a day of sun and swimming at Glan Neigr, a cosy bar in town. Or, have a meal at The Oyster Catcher, situated amongst grassy sand dunes and serving fresh local seafood dishes.

Nature

The Isle of Anglesey Coastal Path traverses across the whole of Anglesey, running alongside the coast, and is the perfect way to discover the island’s incredible natural beauty. Take the path to Holyhead Mountain, which is the highest point on Anglesey so has breathtaking views of the coast and the island.

A longer walk from Holyhead to Porth Trwyn where there is a beautiful beach takes you past amazing natural coastal formations such as rock arches. The coast of Anglesey is a designated Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, so any path that you take is guaranteed to have unforgettable coastal views.

A highly recommended walk is to South Stack Lighthouse, which was built in 1809 and still stands in fantastic condition today. Snap a picture of it from the viewpoint on the coast or explore inside via a guided tour. These tours take you through the engine rooms and an exhibition area inside.

Near Holyhead is Parc Arfordirol Coastal Park, a woodland with an idyllic atmosphere created by the magnificent trees populating the area. There are lots of historical buildings along the way, as well as wildflowers which attract butterflies. This is a great place for a leisurely afternoon walk.

A half-an-hour drive away is a beautiful nature reserve called Cors Erddreiniog, where the reed beds and lakes are habitats for butterflies and dragonflies. Nearby is Llyn Cefni, where there is a circular walk around the lake. You may be able to spot kingfishers when walking along this route.

Places to eat

Holyhead is home to some fantastic restaurants and cafés, so there will be a place for every occasion and taste. For a light lunch, the Beach Hut Café and Bistro has a wide range of hot and cold sandwiches with various fillings. Its colourful interior creates a friendly and welcoming setting. A traditional fish and chips lunch can be enjoyed from one of many fish and chips shops in town.

Simply Street Bar & Grill is another highly recommended location for dinner, where they fashion their food creatively to create a memorable dining experience. For a more international meal, try the award-winning Urban Tiger Restaurant and Bar where the menu consists of a range of South Asian-inspired dishes.
