The Alpaca Retreat Reviews

Emma Carter - Oct 2024
We had such a lovely time at the alpaca retreat! The close encounters with the alpacas really made it special for us. The hut was cosyand the bed was incredibly comfy. Amanda was a fantastic host-friendly and attentive-plus, there was Prosecco waiting for us when we arrived, which was a lovely touch. Sitting in the hot tub, with those stunning views, was just perfect for relaxing. Highly recommend!

We had such a lovely stay here! The hut was super cosy and warmand the jacuzzi was a real treat, always at the perfect temperature. Alpacas were hilarious and loved being fed. Amanda surprised us by lighting the fitpit hut and even left a bottle of Prosecco. Three great nights, definitely recommend!

We loved this cosy little retreat, it honestly felt like stepping into our own private paradise. The location was peaceful, yet everything we needed was right there. The boys kept us company every morning, waiting patiently for their carrot treats - such characters! Amanda was a lovely host, making us feel really at home. The Bull & Butcher pub nearby is perfect for a quick drink and some tasty grub. Definitely a place we’d come back to!

Wow, what a place! The hut is genuinely stunning-so glamorous and luxurious, yet cosy enough that it doesn’t feel cramped. The clever use of space makes it feel much bigger than it actually is. Amanda, the host, is lovely-really friendly, super helpfuland clearly takes pride in her property. Ohand those alpacas! They’re adorable, hilariousand honestly more entertaining than any TV. The pond attracts loads of wildlife too, making it a perfect spot for nature lovers. We loved it!

The place is stunning, with plenty to do if you're feeling active, but it’s perfect for kicking back and soaking up the peace and quiet. The hot tub was a real highlight - such a lovely way to start or end the day. Amanda was a brilliant host, really friendly and helpfuland she even let my wife feed the alpacas a few times, which she loved. Overall, no complaints at all, definitely a 10/10!

We really needed a quiet escape and found it here. The hut was super cosy and a great spot to unwind, especially with our dog. Even with the heavy rain causing some flooding and the electric acting up, Amanda was lovely and made us feel at home. The walks were lovely and the pub visits added to the charm. We’ll definitely be back - such a peaceful break! Highly recommend for anyone wanting to get away from it all.

Attractions Near The Alpaca Retreat

Here are some of the activities and experiences you can enjoy on your visit to The Alpaca Retreat. If you discover a worthy inclusion to this list on your hot tub break, please let us know and we'll add it so that other visitors can enjoy it too.
Pendon Indoor Model Village and Railways - OX12 8EA
about 16 Miles
This is an all weather attraction in Abingdon, Oxfordshire which will appeal to all ages.  The model trains are fascinating to watch and we love the model village in the Vale Scene.  The exhibits have been well thought out and it's a pleasure to wander around this museum looking at everything on offer.  You can be assured of a warm welcome from the moment you arrive and for kids and adults alike this makes a fun and educational day out.
Catanger Llama Trekking - NN12 8LJ
about 18 Miles
This is a really unique attraction and certainly worth a visit in our opinion.  Established in 1995 and situated in the heart of the Northamptonshire countryside this attraction will appeal to those looking for something a little different.  You can't ride the animals but you can trek alongside them and enjoy the fantastic scenery.  From farm tracks to country lanes the gentle animals will carry your rucksack for you along the way.  There are personally guided treks available all year round and you will have your own Llama for the trek.
Old Dairy Farm Centre - PO30 2NB
about 24 Miles
Suited to families with children of all ages this is a fantastic attraction in Northamptonshire.  There are many special events held throughout the year so don't forget to check what's happening while you are staying in the region.  Some highlights include the lambing weekends and the monthly local food fayres.
Old Dairy Farm Country Shopping and Craft Centre - LE14 3PF
about 24 Miles
From shopping to home cooked refreshments this is a wonderful day out in the pretty village of Upper Stowe.  You can enjoy amazing views over the Northamptonshire countryside and wander around the complex of stone built farm buildings.  Each building houses something different such as the Occasions Florist, Itsy Bitsy Gifts, Hayrack Gallery and Sheer Delights Lingerie.  When it's time for a rest the Barn Restaurant and Tea Room is the place to go.  There is a small selection of animals at the centre too which younger children will love.  They currently have two Kune Kune pigs, sheep, hens and ducks.  If you are looking for upmarket holiday accommodation in the Northamptonshire area then the luxury lodges at Wicksteed Park are sure to impress.
Cotswold Wildlife Park and Gardens - OX18 4JP
about 26 Miles
This has to be one of the most popular days out in Oxfordshire and is sure to appeal to nature lovers, animal lovers and keen gardeners.  Families and couples will enjoy wandering around this amazing park with a wide variety of mammals and birds to see as well as reptiles. Some of the most popular animals are the Burrowing Owl, Dexter Cow, African Pancake Tortoise and the Bar Headed Goose.  Check out their website for the latest admission costs and special offers.
Farmer Gows - SN7 8DA
about 28 Miles
Farmer Gows is a recommended attraction in the Faringdon area of Oxfordshire and will be especially suited to families with young children.  The little ones will love coming to see the farm animals including pigs, cows and lambs.  The meet the animals session takes place every day and includes handling the animals, walking the goats, feeding the pigs and cows and egg collecting.  Look out for special seasonal events throughout the year such as the Halloween Party, Lambing and children's workshops.  The latest news from the farm is that they have some Saddleback piglets and Speckledy chicks arriving shortly.
The Royal Forest of Rockingham - LE16 8UW
about 38 Miles
The Royal Forest of Rockingham in Northamptonshire is the perfect place to enjoy a range of outdoor pursuits including Walking, Cycling, Nature Trails and Horse Riding. The beautiful medieval hunting forest offers areas of ancient woodlands, agricultural land and peaceful stone-built forest villages. The forest is also abundant with wildlife including Deer, Squirrels, Butterflies and Birds.
