Lode Hall Cottages Reviews

"Wonderful place! Celebrated a 40th birthday with friends for the weekend and then stayed on with immediate family for another 5 days after! So peaceful, comfortable, neat, clean and warm, with a really well equipped kitchen; including large cooker, 2 kettles, 2 microwaves, plenty of crockery, etc. Just a sensible, well thought out holiday home that caters for 12! Everything we needed was on hand! Brilliant! Lee was very helpful and nothing was too much trouble!
We will definitely be back! Thanks

And...Deposit was refunded the same day we left!"

"Really lovely property, clean, well equipped, warm and comfortable. Perfect for our group of friends celebrating a 50th decade birthday! Not much to do locally but enjoy the wild Fenland countryside!"
Janet - Jan 2020
"Wonderful, much bigger than it appears in photos!"
Laura - Nov 2019
"We had a fantastic stay at Lode Hall. I organised a reunion weekend for all our friends who had studied at University together and this provided the perfect spot. The house is absolutely beautiful, with fantastic grounds for lots of games. The hot tub was a great bonus and big enough to fit the whole group!

We were also all very pleased with the bedrooms and the comfort of the beds - everyone had lovely rooms and a great nights sleep! The kitchen is really big and meant we could all help cook, two dishwashers was a great bonus for the cleaning up. Great that they provide board games too.

Staff were really friendly - they left us to our own devices and were on hand via text or call whenever needed. We were greeted on arrival with a lovely basket of tea and coffee.

You pretty much have to drive to anywhere that you want to visit - but this didn't matter to us as we had hoped to spend most of our time at the house doing activities in the garden and putting on the BBQ. They helpfully do provide you with some local spots worth visiting. The BBQ is coal so it's worth bringing coal supplies along as they aren't provided.

Thank you for a great trip and we hope to return in the future!"

"Absolutely great property. Nice and quiet, not far from Hunstanton. The surroundings are beautiful, with great gardens attached where we were able to play cricket with the children etc. Was all lovely, clean and new. Definitely recommend and would love to come back.
Hot tub was great albeit it was the hottest weekend!
Cant fault it at all. Thanks again"

Rebecca - Jan 2019
"What a fantastic Christmas we had in Lode Hall. There were 15 of us and every single person said it was the best Christmas we have ever had! The property and the rooms were all beautiful, the grounds were very substantial and the hot tub was a huge hit! Dick, Fran and Lee were extremely helpful and nothing was too much trouble for them. They even left us a Christmas card and a lovely box of chocolates, such a nice touch. The visits from Sooty the cat were also a highlight :-) We will certainly be back!"

Definitely recommend

"Absolutely amazing place to stay for a large mixed group. Plenty of space so you are not on top of each other, but as usual we all crowded round in the kitchen
Speaking of the kitchen it had everything we needed and more. Highly recommend"

"Really well equipped house, lovely and warm too which was so nice on a rainy December day! Bath was just lovely and a nice big shower! The property is under a flight path - this did not disturb us at all! Dont be put off! A great location for dogs who hate fireworks as it's in the middle of nowhere. Really beautiful, well converted property. Thank you! "
Phoebe - Dec 2024
"It was everything we wanted for our weekend away and we loved staying here. We'll definitely be back! Our pups absolutely loved the underfloor heating and had so much fun in the garden. In fact Luna came home with a strained tail and according to the vet it was because she was wagging it so much over the weekend!! Very happy pups and hoomans!"
Andrew - Dec 2024
"Lovely cottage. Great location for us. Away from the hustle and bustle. Great hot tub . Lovely helpful non intrusive owners. They have it just right!"
Simon - Dec 2024
"Absolutely loved how well maintained and equipped this cottage is. Plenty of dog walks right on the doorstep. Very friendly host, they were so efficient and communication was excellent. We enjoyed meeting the animals on the farm and the very curious pig penelope. Perfect escape for us and the doggos. Will definitely be back, brilliant value!! Highly recommend. "

"Beautiful property, spotlessly clean, well equipped and very comfortable, had a fabulous break, hot tub amazing x"
Libby - Dec 2024
"Very kind and considerate owners. Couldnt be better. Enormously helpful and extremely pleasant. Charming half-timbered cottage with a great strong shower, cosy kitchen & living room combination and very comfortable bed. Fantastic parking directly next to the rented cottage. Well heated and very charming, and spotlessly clean. Great walks across the fields to the local village of Thaxted and of course within easy travelling distance of the village, replete with half-timbered houses and windmill. "
James - Dec 2024
"We had a wonderful time in Goddard Mead. The cottage was very complete and there were walks on the doorstep. The welcome and stay was very warm. The owners are lovely people."
Annemieke - Dec 2024
"My family of 14 stayed at Lode hall for 4 nights and we all had the best time. The house was amazing with plenty of space and everything you needed was there. The garden was beautiful, so much space for the kids and dogs to enjoy. The owner let us have bouncy castle for a few days which was great. The hottub was lovely and was used everyday and was cleaned everyday by the manager and owner. The manager was fantastic when the gas ran out, he was able to sort it out within 5mins. The owner was lovely and the communication between us was quick and helpful. Thankyou so much for a lovely holiday. We will definitely return."
Sarah - Jul 2022
"We loved it with our big family and two dogs ideal for us. Would definitely recommend it."
Janette - Jun 2022
"Fantastic place to stay, all double rooms have en suites and another bathroom downstairs. Great hot tub. Very clean would definitely recommend and hopefully we'll be back one day!"
Claire - May 2022
"We stayed as a large group for the weekend and had a fantastic time. The hall and it's grounds are very impressive, the photos online do not do it justice. We spent many hours in the hot tub, no complaints here! The only issues we experienced was that the heating was up very high and one of the lounges was so hot when we arrived that it was more like a sauna! Some of the toilets didn't flush well and one of the showers didn't work at all. But there are plenty of other toilets and showers to use throughout the hall. Overall we were very impressed and would highly recommend Lode Hall for a large group getaway."
Clare - May 2022
"A great location for us as a large family. We all comfortably stayed in the house, plenty of room. The garden is a great space, for games and fun. Highly recommend for a good base, lots of stuff to do around the house to for days out."

"A large 200 year old building, got plenty of character, ideal for large family or friends meeting up. I would highly recommend Lode Hall"
