Close to where the Norfolk and Suffolk borders meet, and set in tranquil woodland on the banks of the River Thet, Thorpe Forest Lodges are luxurious, stylish and ecologically designed. The wonderful Norfolk Broads are within an hour's drive, and Bury St Edmunds, Norwich and Cambridge are all easily accessible.
As well as the idyllic setting which you can explore on beautiful walks and nature trails, you can also go horse riding, hire a mountain bike and try out the many other outdoor pursuits available. There's an activity centre, a shop and coffee lounge and a children's play area. Thorpe Forest also has a team of rangers ready and waiting to take you on tours and other activities.
The accommodation here really is superb and you can choose to stay within the forest itself, or in one of the lovely open glades. Golden Oak Hideaway is really special - designed for couples, it has panoramic views of the forest, a sunken bath for two, underfloor heating and a log burning stove. There is a gorgeous decking area with a hammock and hot tub.
Thetford Forest consists of nearly 19,000 hectares of pines, heathland and broadleaf trees and is home to a multitude of native British wildlife. Lynford Arboretum has over 200 tree species, including mature Norwegian Spruce and an extremely ancient oak tree.
