From stand-up paddleboarding to tubing, this holiday park has everything you need to have fun. Perhaps the best activity on offer is their ‘Aqua Park’- a giant inflatable playground which is set on water!

Arbennig Luxury Lodges in Mold

Another convenient choice for many, is Arbennig Luxury Lodges. These cosy chalets are situated in the beautiful countryside of Mold, and similarly to the above, are just half an hour’s drive from the zoo.

Choose between two modern cabins which both sleep up to four people and feature their own private hot tub and BBQ set.

In addition to this holiday home’s fab facilities, there are plenty of things to do in the nearby village of Eryrys. Just 10 minutes down the road, sits The Sun Inn- one of the highest pubs in Wales. Alternatively, ‘Glasfryn’ is a popular choice for many (especially those wanting to earn their dinner). On this pub’s website, you’ll be able to find a brilliant 8km circular walk designed by AllTrails. This has been described as a ‘really rewarding’ route, taking you through the picturesque Gwysaney Estate, before heading back to Glasfryn.

Not only is the food and drink strongly recommended in Mold, but so are the extraordinary landmarks. Coincidently enough, the village’s very own castle, ‘Mold castle’, is just 12 minutes from the lodges. History is practically on your doorstep at Arbennig!

The Saddlery Cheshire in Congleton

Whilst not strictly a lodge, The Saddlery Cheshire is still worth a mention.

This farm in Congleton is notably popular with families, and previous guests have rated the location a 10 for places to stay with kids (pets are also welcome with open arms upon request).

Although it is located around an hour’s drive from Chester Zoo, The Saddlery isn’t one to pass up; rooms feature a fully equipped kitchen, private patio, and beautiful views of the surrounding mountains.

Bluebell Cottage in Frith

Around 15 miles from Chester Zoo, rests Bluebell Cottage.

This idyllic lodge is tucked away in the village of Frith near Brymbo and is roughly five miles from the city of Wrexham.

The cottage consists of a light and spacious living area, as well as two bedrooms and a jack-and-jill bathroom. Bluebell also has its own private entrance and no neighbours in sight, making it the ultimate getaway for those who prefer a quieter life.

There are a few coffee shops and pubs down the road, and Frith itself is situated alongside the River Cegidog!

In terms of attractions, Wrexham is probably the place to venture. This city is home to The Science Discovery Centre as well as the Wrexham County Borough Museum- an educational day out whichever you choose.

Perhaps a little more entertaining (yet still just as informative), is a trip to The Racecourse Ground. Thanks to Hollywood star and Wrexham regular, Ryan Reynolds, ‘the world’s oldest international football stadium’ has garnered even more fame and fans of both the club and actor are welcome to take a tour around Wrexham AFC’s home pitch.

Hampton Lodge in Ellesmere

Situated on a private country estate in the Shropshire town of Ellesmere, is Hampton Lodge.

This two-storey luxury chalet has four bedrooms and three bathrooms, accommodating up to eight people. The spacious holiday home also features a huge living area, a well-equipped kitchen, and a brilliant BBQ set.
