Hot Tub Holidays in Cardigan

1. Walk through history

Of course, we had to start with the most obvious location for history enthusiasts at Cardigan Castle! Explore the Georgian mansion, Grade II listed gardens, and of course, the ancient castle, with a history ranging from the medieval to the present day. History buffs and aspiring gardeners will find plenty to enjoy, with both being able to take a break from the exploring by visiting Cegin 1176 Kitchen, the on-site café and restaurant that serves locally sourced produce along with gorgeous views of Cardigan.

Castell Henllys Iron Age Village, roughly a fifteen-minute drive from Cardigan, gives visitors the opportunity to walk among Iron Age roundhouses that have been reconstructed on the same place they would have been 2,000 years ago. Brought to life by costumed guides, you’re bound to feel like you’ve escaped the twenty-first century for at least a few hours! There’s even a barefoot walking trail, made of eight different surfaces, to really help you feel as though you’re following the footsteps of Celtic warriors.

2. The natural world within Cardigan

But if it’s Cardigan’s natural world that you’d rather learn about, then the Welsh Wildlife Centre is a great place to start. Located on the Teifi Marsh Nature Reserve, there’s plenty of beautiful walks nearby, but make sure you say hello to the resident water buffalo and giant willow badger first! Keep an eye out on their events page to see what other creatures of all shapes and sizes might be about on your holiday.

For those wanting to get even more up close and personal with nature, Heritage Canoes has the only commercial contract to take visitors onto the River Teifi. The gorge is home to a wide variety of animals, such as otters, red deer and kingfishers, so keep an eye out on your trip! No matter your age or ability, taking a trip down Teifi is a great way to try out a new sport and witness more of the beautiful scenery that Cardigan has to offer.

Whether you’re already buzzing about bees, or just bustling to find out more, New Quay Honey Farm started in 1995 and now has hundreds of hives across the countryside! Learn more about hive culture with their live ‘Bees behind Glass’ exhibition to see how the animals organise to produce their delicious honey. And don’t forget to stop off at their shop for a jar of the sweet stuff to bring home.

Support local businesses with a reminder of your stay!

For those looking for something extra special to take home as a reminder of your stay in the town, John and Victoria Jewellery is well worth a look. With everything designed and made on the premises, their work really is a piece of Cardigan, whether you’re looking for rings and necklaces or bookmarks and spoons, there’s something for everyone and every price range.

And for the artists travelling you, head over to The Blue Boat. Working as both a shop and open art studio, they stock hand-picked items you might not find anywhere else, like their vintage Welsh tapestry blankets and coats, or upcycled furnishings made in Cardigan. Upstairs in the art studio, you’ll see the work of Jennifer Hawkyard based on the creatures she finds when exploring. But if you still haven’t managed to find that perfect piece, Cardigan Guildhall market has even more to offer, with over 50 shops selling thousands of products. It’s the perfect place to lose yourself in for an hour or two!

A lodge with a hot tub can be a great base to explore the area.
