Glastonbury Hot Tub Break FAQs
Some quick handy tips and help to help make your lodge escape go smoothly.
Will my hot tub be ready after check-in?
With the average lodge break check-in being around 3 pm, it’s normal that your hot tub will be at the right temperature for your arrival. If it’s not quite at that 39° yet, just put the cover back on and wait an hour or so. In the majority of cases, it will have been heating up all day and will be hot!
Do you have to pay for wifi on a lodge break?
Most of the time, no. Thankfully, free WiFi is now something you can expect in your lodge. Having said that, check before you visit. The odd location will still have an old-fashioned system of paying £10 to get the WiFi password. Most hot tub breaks won’t charge you extra.
What’s this good-house-keeping bond?
a lot of lodges with hot tubs will require a housekeeping bond which is a guarantee that if you go wild and wreck the place, they’re allowed to keep it to help repair the damage. (OK, no one is going to do that in real life). You’ll get this cash back on your credit card shortly after your holiday ends and you won’t get charged extra for minor things like breaking a glass.
Can my dog join me in the hot tub?
I did read a guide the other day that said something about taking your dog in the hot tub, but I’m assuming it was a joke. I’ve no idea whether it’s bad for a mutt to make a splash on a lodge holiday in the Jacuzzi but it’s definitely not good for the hot tub!
Those shiny surfaces can get scratched easily and hair is the enemy of the hot tub filter. So, as much fun as it could be, dogs are definitely not allowed in hot tubs.
Should I get a lodge with a wood-fired hot tub, or a regular jacuzzi?
When you’re booking a UK lodge break you might come across a different kind of hot tub, the ‘wood-fired’ kind. These require a bit more effort than the regular electric kind and are heated solely by the attached log burner (which can also keep you warm if you’re sitting next to it on a night…) They’re not hard to use and are a quiet, eco-friendly alternative.
Can I spend a week in the Glastonbury Area?
Yes! While Glastonbury town itself is fairly small, it has charm in bucket loads. If you’re happy to drive a little further for day trips or want to make the most of the on-site facilities then you could easily fill in a week. New Oaks Farm Lodges offer lovely lodges with hot tubs and a huge range of on-site facilities so there is no chance of getting bored.
Is everything to do centred around the festival?
No, Glastonbury itself has a rich history and there is plenty to do in the surrounding areas. However, if you’re holiday falls at the same time as the festival, expect it to have an impact on your stay. There are some fantastic lodges set around Glasto and lots of fun days out to be had.
Should I pack my waterproofs?
The South West is notoriously rainy so if you want to make the most of your visit bring your waterproofs. Otherwise take shelter while it’s raining and make the most of the warmer summer weather to relax in the hot tub. You can still use your hot tub when it’s raining but pack a shower cap if you don’t want to get your hair wet.
Can I use the hot tub on my lodge holiday if I’m pregnant?
Probably not. According to the NHS and other reputable sources, it’s not advisable to use the hot tub when you’re expecting. Although there’s actually not much research out on this topic, it’s likely to make you feel faint and overheated, more so than someone who isn’t pregnant.
