"Lovely village they have created the Skiddow wasn't far from the car park or other the main reception, restaurant and bar area. The cottage was clean, spacious and warm. The kitchen was a good size and had basic equipment for those wanting the carer for themselves. Was a lovely experience and would definitely go back"

"Excellent accommodation and facilities at a reasonable price."

"Accommodation was excellent, clean and well kitted out. The cottage hot tub turned off at 9pm which was not made clear until arrival. It was also quite open and on view to passersby, I would have preferred more privacy."

"Nice cottage, the only issue was a bath as water swift didnt work and toilet flush was also bit weak and needed some checking."

"Loved it here and would definitely come back. We stayed in a Troutbeck with a hot tub. It was very well equipped inside with everything we needed for cooking - except a pizza cutter, but we just used scissors! We liked that it was almost an upside down house, all the bedrooms were downstairs and the living area was upstairs. The living/kitchen/dining room was really nice and had a cosy vibe. Inside was very clean and the beds were comfy. One thing to bear in mind is the location is quite remote, which is good for the peace and quiet. Penrith isnt too far away for shops but not within walking distance. There were some milk sachets, tea bags and coffee sachets for us to make a few hot drinks ready for us though which was nice. If I had to make one comment it was that access to the hot tub was via the patio doors located in the main bedroom, but I guess due to the layout there isnt really a way to fix that. It didnt really affect us though and we loved our stay nonetheless."

"Booked over the Christmas period. The contractors whole place was very un-festive. Bar closed at 6pm Christmas eve and wasn't open on Christmas day unless you were having a pre booked meal. The attempt at Christmas lights outside was fire to say the least. Wasn't expecting illuminations but poor. No atmosphere. Bar staff weren't the happiest. Left early. Never again. Used to love this place"

"The place was really lovely, peaceful and well laid out. Only thing missing was a tumble drier-drying wet clothes took forever, which was a bit of a pain."

"The cottage had quite a few fliesand although fly spray was provided, it did get pretty irritating."
Emma - Jul 2020

"We had such a lovely stay! The lodge was spotless and super comfy, which made everything so easy. The kids couldnt get enough of the swimming pool, golfand the park - they had a blast. The restaurant was spot on too. There are loads of nice places nearby to explore. Only thing missing was our little dog, its tough leaving him behind, honestly. Cant wait to come back!"

"We stayed in a lovely cottage that comfortably fit eight, but the dining area only had seats for six, so two of us ended up eating on the sofa, which was a bit awkward. Also, it would be great if there was a small shop on-site - we forgot some essentials and had no nearby place to grab them. Still, overall, a nice stay!"

"Excellent setup and location in need of balconies painting and restaurant closed 2 days, which we understand due to short taff in the kitchen but the bar could of been open. All in we have stayed 10 times and will make it 11 then 12+"

"We stayed in Caldew 1, myself, my husband and two children aged 7 and 11. The contact free check in worked very well. I arranged an online shop for an hour after we arrived at reception. This was great but next time would meet the van in the guest car park as there is more space. The lodge was well equipped and very clean. The children used the swimming pool twice a day which was fantastic. Our hot tub was serviced every day and we had lots of fun using that. Places I would recommend a visit to with children are - Lowther Castle (huge adventure play area), Aira Force (the kids played in the stream for hours), and Brougham Castle. We packed lunches everyday which saved money. A big thank you to the reception staff at Whitbarrow Village who worked hard to make our stay enjoyable. My daughter particularly enjoyed feeding the ducks with the food you gave her"

"We had a fantastic few nights Surroundings are stunning as is the accommodation and facilities. Very calming place and lots for the kids. We really enjoyed the pool which was spotlessly clean. The staff were lovely and so helpful at the main reception. Food in the restaurant was delicious. We would return tomorrow ?"
