"Booked the lodge for over the New Year weekend 2023. The lodge is in a nice location, with local pubs (which do food) and a shop about 5 minutes drive away. The lodge is lovely with a spacious living/dining area with well equipped kitchen (The only thing I would say is the addition of an air fryer would be a good idea, we took our own which was so much easier) The bedrooms were nice. The master bedroom with en suite was lovely with a large double bed and lots and lots of wardrobe space! The two other bedrooms both had single beds but again with plenty of wardrobe space. A good sized family bathroom with a bath was lovely. The lodge was very warm! Lots of radiators which can be altered to a comfortable temperature. The hot tub was great. But the lodge sleeps 6 people, yet the hot tub is only for 4 people? That was the only downside to what was a lovely weekend away with my family to celebrate the New Year and I would definitely stay again."

"Beautiful lodge, very well equipped and warm. It could just do with an outside light at the back where you park the car, it was very dark when we arrived. Also some hooks at the side of the or tub to hang towels/bath robes."

The property is under a flight path - this did not disturb us at all! Dont be put off! A great location for dogs who hate fireworks as it's in the middle of nowhere. "It was everything we wanted for our weekend away and we loved staying here. We'll definitely be back! Our pups absolutely loved the underfloor heating and had so much fun in the garden. In fact Luna came home with a strained tail and according to the vet it was because she was wagging it so much over the weekend!! Very happy pups and hoomans!"

"Absolutely loved how well maintained and equipped this cottage is. Plenty of dog walks right on the doorstep. Very friendly host, they were so efficient and communication was excellent. We enjoyed meeting the animals on the farm and the very curious pig penelope. Perfect escape for us and the doggos. Will definitely be back, brilliant value!! Highly recommend. "

"Very kind and considerate owners. Couldnt be better. Enormously helpful and extremely pleasant. Charming half-timbered cottage with a great strong shower, cosy kitchen & living room combination and very comfortable bed. Fantastic parking directly next to the rented cottage. Well heated and very charming, and spotlessly clean. Great walks across the fields to the local village of Thaxted and of course within easy travelling distance of the village, replete with half-timbered houses and windmill. "
