Mouswald Lodge Park Reviews

"Great peaceful break just what was needed. Good standard of accommodation"
Verified Guest - Aug 2025
"Mattress too thin, cobwebs on decking area a nightmare lets the look of the outside down"
Lorna - Jul 2025
"We had a lovely stay, the pod was super comfy and really clean. The Wi-Fi worked well, which was great, but its a shame the smart TV didnt connect - wouldve been a nice touch. The only tiny thing was some of the corners in the floor werent spotless, but honestly, it wasnt a big deal. Wed definitely return!"
Emily - Mar 2025
"Really enjoyed our stay, the lodge was comfy and peaceful, just a couple of minor issues. Thanks!"
Benji - Aug 2024
"Our Mouswald Lodge Park review: We finally got around to visiting Mouswald Park after lockdown and it was such a lovely experience! The lodge was spotless and felt really modern, with all the essentials we needed. We spent most of our time relaxing in the hot tub - honestly, we didnt want to leave! The whole site seemed well thought out, especially with safety in mind, which was reassuring. The staff were super friendly and helpful, making everything smooth. We loved the peaceful vibe and didnt venture off the site at all. Honestly, well definitely return. Thanks for a fantastic, safe weekend away - it was exactly what we needed! Would recommend to anyone looking for a relaxing break."

"We had a lovely time! The lodge was really comfy and spacious. Shame about the unpredictable Scottish weather, but it didnt spoil our break at all."

Olivia - Feb 2020
"Really enjoyed it, despite a few old-fashioned touches."
Harriet - Jan 2020
"Absolutely loved it, didnt want to leave!"
George - Nov 2019
"We stayed at the Westl and Lodge recently and it was quite a nice find. The place was really roomy and super comfy, perfect for our group with four bedrooms and an extra sofa bed in the lounge. Parking was no trouble, with space for two cars right outside, plus plenty of privacy around the lodge. The setting is peaceful, just open fields and gentle hills in the distance - very relaxing. Just a heads up, don't expect to kick a ball around, there's not much activity space, but great for walking the dog. All in all, a lovely spot for a quiet break!"
Jamie - Aug 2019
"We recently stayed and honestly, the lodge was stunning-really top-notch! The staff made us feel so welcome and were always happy to help. The kids enjoyed the trip, though we did find a bit limited in outdoor space for playing ball or frisbee, which was a bit of a downer. Our dogs walks were restricted mostly to around the lodges since there werent many good paths nearby. Also, privacy was an issue with the lodge behind us having a direct view into our windows, which was a bit awkward. Still, overall, a decent stay!"
Harper - Jul 2019
"We had a fantastic time! Already planning to book again next year."
Simon - Feb 2019
"We stayed at Mouswald Lodge Park last week and honestly, it was fantastic. Were already booked to go back in May because we loved it so much. There were 8 of us and surprisingly, it never felt cramped - with two doubles and two twins, we managed to push the beds together in the twin rooms easily. The kitchen was fully stocked with everything we needed to cook for all of us and the dishwasher came in really handy. They supplied washing up liquid, sponges, towels and washing up tablets - which was a nice touch. Check-in and check-out were quick and smooth. Overall, a great stay and we cant wait to return!"
Jess - Dec 2018
"Really relaxing, would recommend"
David - May 2018
"Lovely place very clean staff very good and helpful. Could do with a small shop on site and if wanted to get even more people and make a number 1 place in Scotland could invest in a indoor pool would really get more people to stay and something to do on rainy days think it would be a good investment and maybe a bar.went to one in loo Last year and they had all that and it was one of the best sites been all in all a very good place thew things would make this a number 1 site in Scotland"
Mark - Aug 2022
"Relaxed 4 days exactly what my family needed."
Helen - Jul 2022
"It is peaceful place. Definitely will go again"
Samrawit - Jul 2022
"The lodge is beautiful, really big and everything you need is provided (towels, dishcloth, dishwasher tablets etc). It's a 10 ou of 10. The hot tub was perfect. Accommodates 4 people comfortably. The site is very small with lots of trees providing welcome shade during warm days and privacy. It's only a short drive to Dumfries if you need to stock up on food/drinks. People with young families may prefer a more lively venue, with more things to do. It's perfect for a quiet relaxing weekend/holiday."
Nathalie - Jul 2022
"Lovely place, spotlessly clean and tidy. Sean and Linda the site supervisors are so nice and always about if you need them, will definitely be returning in the future and would highly recommend."
Kirsty - Jul 2022

Attractions Near Mouswald Lodge Park

Mabie Farm Park - DG2 8EZ
about 7 Miles
Mabie Farm Park is a firm favourite. Ideal for families with younger children ,this family oriented farm park has lots of animals to meet and also offers Donkey Rides, Paddle Boats and Slides as well as Trampolines and Bouncy Castles. Kids can run around on the Soft Play Area while mum and dad relax in the Tea Room. There is also a Farm Shop onsite selling toys, gifts and fresh local produce including cakes and jams. Seasonal activities can also be enjoyed including a spookly tea and walk on Haloween. The Farm closes for the winter on October 31st.
Castle Douglas - DG7 1TJ
about 20 Miles
We also recommend a visit to Castle Douglas and the Treasure Hunt Treasure Trails. These treasure hunts are great fun for the whole family and are an entertaining way to explore a new town or village. Children will enjoy solving the clues whilst learning about the history of the area. The walking trail is suitable for wheelchair users and those with pushchairs so no one is left out of the fun.
Tullie House Museum & Art Gallery - CA3 8TP
about 23 Miles
This is a museum and art gallery in one and will suit those looking for an educational and cultural day out.  You can explore the fantastic art collection including Fine Art, Decorative Art and Textiles.  If you love nature then this aspect of Tullie House will appeal. The museum holds large and important collections of zoological, botanical and geological material. And for lovers of history there is plenty to wet your appetite here. Tullie House collects a wide range of historic materials including objects, ephemera (printed material), photographs and associated information files.  We think this museum and art gallery are excellent value for money as well.
Lake District Wildlife Park - CA12 4RD
about 27 Miles
We love this day out in Cumbria where you're encouraged to "take a fresh look".  Some of the amazing animals you will get to see include the only Canadian Lynx in the UK and you will have the opportunity to help their Lynx Conservation Project.  The Asian Fishing Cat is also well worth a look - these cats are known for diving under the water and catching fish!  Other activities include fantastic flying displays and play areas for the little ones...
Laggan Outdoor - DG7 3NQ
about 34 Miles

An outdoor activity center suitable for families. Featuring one of Europe's longest zip wires, jeep driving, grass sledging, archery, outdoor scooters. A mix of fun and adreneline rides and a lot more.

Kielder Water Bird of Prey Centre - NE48 1BT
about 38 Miles
Housing the most fascinating collection of Birds of Prey in the North East this centre is definitely worth a visit if you are staying in the Kielder Water area. Located in Falstone it's easy to get to and makes a great day out for both families and couples.  As well as seeing the amazing birds you can learn all about the captive breeding programme and the excellent work being done there.  Some of the highlights of the day might include watching a Falcon stoop down from the skies at over 100mph and admiring the grace of the Eagles, Kites and Hawks.
