The private outdoor hot tub might be the best spot in Peeblesshire. Sink into the bubbles after a day outdoors and watch the stars appear above the treeline.

Glentress Forest is brilliant for mountain biking, with trails to suit everyone from wobbly beginners to seasoned pros. The hiking paths aren't bad either if you prefer two feet to two wheels.

We recommend packing your trainers for the crisp morning walks. The sound of leaves underfoot and birds overhead beats any alarm clock.

The underfloor heating means toasty toes even in Scottish winter. The fully equipped kitchen has a dishwasher and microwave, so self-catering is straightforward.

Fire up the BBQ on the spacious decking for outdoor meals surrounded by greenery.

Nearby excursions include Neidpath Castle (10 mins), Dawyck Botanic Garden (20 mins), Peebles town (15 mins) and Traquair House (30 mins).

These woodland cabins deliver exactly what they promise: proper forest immersion with just the right amount of luxury. No wonder they're booked solid in summer. Grab your dates now for a forest break that

Kailzie Gardens - EH45 9HT
about 2 Miles
Kailzie Gardens are another popular attraction and are an excellent place for a day out in the summertime. The gardens are a peaceful and colourful place to spend the day with a wide variety of flora and fauna on display. Other attractions here include live viewing of the Tweed Valley ospreys, a Gift Shop where children can pick up a souvenir, a Tearoom serving tasty local produce and home cooked meals, a Children's Corner, Putting Green, and a gorgeous private 2½ mile stretch on the River Tweed where visitors can enjoy Fly Fishing and a Picnic Area.
Smoo Cave - IV27 4QB
about 22 Miles
Smoo Cave is a popular attraction which can be enjoyed all year round but visitors should wrap up warm during the winter months.  This spectacular limestone sea-cave in Sutherland is the largest in Britain and is simply spectacular. The cave was formed by a burn that runs down into the rear chamber, as well as erosion caused by the sea. Guests can take the path from the car park which runs right through the cave. Boat trips are available in the summer months and are an excellent way to fully appreciate the cave from all angles.
M&D's Scotland's Theme Park - ML1 3RT
about 34 Miles
M&D's, Scotland's Family Theme Park is a "must do" day out if you are in the Strathclyde region. The fun attraction is set within 20 acres of beautiful Country Park and offers rides, shows and activities for the whole family to enjoy. Besides the outdoor rides the site is also home to Amazonia - Scotland's only indoor Tropical Rainforest where visitors can meet loads of exotic animals. There is also a large indoor soft play area and an amazing glow in the dark bowling alley, so plenty to do if the weather is bad. During December Scotland's largest Grotto with animated Christmas scenes can also be enjoyed.
