Mary Queen of Scots is said to have stopped to rest here while fleeing defeat at the battle of Langside and just a few miles away at Dundrennan, is where she took her last steps on Scottish soil before sailing to England. This is how Queenshill got its name.
Queenshill Lodges offer perfectly positioned, well equipped lodges built on the site of an old mansion house. The lodges sit adjacent to the beautiful walled garden which is open for guests to explore.
There are miles of paths for walking and just over the hill at Barstobrick there is a horse riding centre, coffee shop and The Galloway Faerie Trail. A map for the walks is provided in the accommodation. Guests can arrange for a breakfast hamper to be delivered to their lodge in the mornings (additional charge).
Our lodges are comfortable, cosy and are well equipped with everything you need to make your stay as stress free as possible.
Queenshill Lodges is a peaceful and tranquil location and the minimal site lighting ensures you are able spend the evenings admiring the regions dark skies – a truly unique experience!
