Plas Isaf Lodge Retreat Reviews

"This cottage is superb ???? very spacious for four of us. Quite and relaxing. We all enjoyed our time and stress free."
Lea - Mar 2025
"A great stay in this lodge, it was a 4 bedroom, 3 bedroom, really good size. I would stay in this lodge again."
Megan - Mar 2025
"We had an amazing stay at Plas Isaf! Ever since our favorite retreat closed, weve been searching for the perfect getawayand weve finally found it. The lodges are beautifully designed, premium in every way, and absolutely spotless. The peace and quiet here are unmatched, yet its ideally located for exploring North Wales. Lisa and the team were incredibly welcoming and helpful, making our stay even better. Were already planning our next visit!"
Colin - Mar 2025
"Just home from a great seven day stay in a Glyndwr 2 bed room lodge super central living style lodge with on suite bedrooms each end of the lodge and a very large open plan living kitchen area in between, have to say from even before we arrived the service from staff was 1st class firstly from Lisa on reception who was so kind to answer all of our pre arrival questions and make a note of the couple of requests we asked for it was a great pleasure for us to meet her on arrival, I must mention Greg who is without doubt a legend he deals with just about any type of maintenance on the whole site from Joinery to plumbing even saw him grass cutting last Sunday nothing and I mean nothing is to much trouble for this guy he is a credit to Darwin Escapes, I have mentioned two staff members but each and everyone we spoke to were equally friendly chatty and helpful and mad us feel quite at home. The lodges are very new so in mint condition and well worth a visit to be honest I can't understand why they are number 2 of 2 sites in Caerwys I have been in both and they are like chalk and cheese Plas Isaf Lodge Retreat being hands down the better of the 2 sites. Now my one minor niggle which I think is only fair to mention in the hope that Darwin Escapes take action to deal with it and make everyone's stay 100% perfect , The niggle is we woke each morning to the smell of sewage tuns out it is an eco site and the traps used in the showers hold very little water so that when the loo is flushed what small amount of water is holding the smell back is sucked away , this issue is easily sorted by running water into the shower tray but it is a pain having to do this each time you use the loo, Good tip take a tin of air freshener with you, I would add that I have no way of knowing if this was just our lodge or all of them buy my guess is they all have the same issue ."
John Goodall - Mar 2025
"This lodge was amazing. Clean, comfortable with everything you could want. TV's in all bedrooms and plenty of plug sockets. A washer/dryer and dishwasher and all great kitchen facilities. We wanted a complete retreat and that is exactly what we had with the beautiful hot tub to wind down in."
Helen - Mar 2025
"Fantastic value for money"
Verified Guest - Mar 2025
"Excellent site, well maintained clean and tidy. Defiantly recommend."
Sophie - Mar 2025
"We booked a 3 night break at Plas Isaf as our first family holiday with our three month old baby. We had a lovely time, but there were some minor issues / flaws. Our lodge was predominantly clean, but some of the finer details could have been a bit cleaner / had a bit more time spent on them. There was cobwebs behind tvs and across the ceilings, bits of fluff on bedding, some of the bathroom wall peeling off, etc. However, in general it was cleaned to a decent standard.I would say the general site and lodge both lack general facilities, which we partly knew of, but not to what extent. Firstly, there's absolutely no capacity to purchase any essentials on site, which I do think could be possible in reception considering there's a beer fridge! This wouldn't be an issue as Caerwys is a two minute drive up the hill, but if you're planning on having a few drinks or even if you'd travelled to the site by public transport / a taxi - this route is not accessible on foot despite Google Maps saying it is. So for this reason, I think the site should sell basic amenities. In the lodge itself, there's no welcome pack or guidance on where anything is, there's also zero cleaning products provided which means you obviously can't clean the property as much as you'd like. Finally, our main issue was the noise. The site prides itself as a retreat but it was far from this for the first two nights (Friday and Saturday). On the Friday night especially we were surrounded by hen party bookings and groups of adults who partied well into the night - finishing at approx 2am. I have no issue with the site accepting these bookings but parties should be separated better. I.e. hen parties and adult groups should be on one side of the park and families another. Some of the noise was that loud we could hear them from four or five lodges away!We did complain about our immediate neighbours as they were in the hot tub blasting music until 2am and security were very pleasant, although I'm not sure if they actually spoke to them as the noise continued until 2am from when we complained at 12pm.Overall a good break, but the site needs to address these issues. Especially the noise. You either need to separate bookings or clamp down on noise further."
Ryan - Mar 2025
"Our getaway started off with a warm welcome from a staff member called Lisa who directed us to our lodge. We stayed in lodge 44 and it was beautiful! Very modern and clean inside with pure tranquility. Our decking wasnt overlooked by anyone and we just looked out into the trees with the sounds of birds in song and flowing water. It was absolutely beautiful and a perfect relaxation and de-stress. The surrounding environment was purely the beauty of nature both day and night as you could see all the stars. It was a short drive to a local town or 20mins into Mold if you wanted a little bit more. Will absolutely be staying again as this place now holds a place in our hearts, both for its appeal but also as we got engaged whilst there."
Rebecca - Mar 2025
"This location is absolutely beautiful! We have stayed here for 2 years running, having this time stayed in Lodge 10! The sun is beaming on the hot tub every single morning until mid afternoon and is so peaceful and private. Lodge itself is very modern and clean, literally the only fault I could find was the Smart TV didnt have any apps to watch later in the evening such as Netflix/ Disney Plus/ BBC iPlayer / ITVX.The staff are so friendly and happy to offer all recommendations for the local area. The North Wales coastline is perfect for all those sandy beaches to walk the doggies!"
Lauren - Mar 2025
"Our Llwelyn lodge was very comfortable and clean throughout apart from floors which we had to sweep after arrival. Even wooden floors benefit from a hoovering occasionally. Needs some oven gloves and few more crockery as we had to wash up or use dish washer alot. Disappointed there was no bath. Overall we had a comfortable stay in this lodge."
Sharon - Mar 2025

"We loved our stay at Plas Isaf! The lodge was beautifully decorated. Warm and cosy vibes!! Hot tub was gorgeous in the cold weather. We did have a couple of issues with the electric as it kept tripping but that was minor. We rang reception and the handyman was at our lodge within minutes each time! The lovely lady on reception at the end of our stay also let us stay in our lodge until 3pm instead of 10am on leaving day, allowing us to use all facilities. There isnt much to do around the actual vicinity of the park, however if driving you could always drive to attractions not far away! We enjoyed just doing absolutely nothing all weekend???? We will definitely be returning! Thank you Plas Isaf??"
