The Sherwood Hideaway Lodges Reviews

"Our family's stay at Sherwood away was a complete and utter disaster, a stark contrast to the relaxing break we desperately needed with our 12-week-old baby. This experience was a masterclass in how to ruin a family holiday. From the outset, we were misled. We specifically confirmed a travel cot would fit in the master bedroom, yet arrived to a lodge that was not only different from the advertised images but also completely unsuitable for our needs. The initial lodge was cramped and nothing like the photos, and the promised cot space simply didn't exist. The "solution" was equally appalling. We were moved to a replacement lodge that was a catalogue of errors: a strong pet odor (despite not booking pet-friendly), a blocked dishwasher, a leaking shower, and a dangerously leaking ceiling. The state of the accommodation was unacceptable, clearly demonstrating run-down and poorly maintained lodges. However, the accommodation issues were overshadowed by the utterly appalling customer service. Alison, a receptionist, was exceptionally rude and dismissive. She verbally attacked me, making false accusations and dismissing my concerns with a level of aggression that left me in tears. Her behavior was deeply unprofessional and incredibly upsetting. Promises of callbacks from management were consistently ignored, leaving us feeling completely disregarded. This is not a family-friendly environment. The misleading information, the substandard accommodation, and the dismissive, abusive staff made our first family holiday a nightmare. We were made to feel like a burden, and the stress caused was immense.Sherwood away is not worth the money. The lodges are not as advertised, the customer service is dreadful, and it is certainly not a place for families. If you are looking for a relaxing, family-friendly getaway, stay elsewhere. You will regret wasting your time and money on this establishment."

"We arrived to find that we had been moved to the Birches lodges due to an issue with our lodge, a massive thank you to the staff as The Birches was so amazing and it felt like an upgrade."
Adrian - Dec 2024
"The lodge was clean, comfortable and well equipped. There were nice touches eg. complimentary smellies in bathroom, Tea, coffee etc. and also pet towel and treats for our dog."
Kim - Dec 2024
"Nice lodge but a bit on the small side for four people and a dog"
Verified Guest - Nov 2024
"Booking: 35514955Upon first arrival, we thought it was nice, we had a nice woodland view from the lodge and the rooms were good sizes. Then went to use the hot tub on Friday night and none of the jet features worked so after about 10 minutes got out. I rang the reception the next morning and they sent someone out who said the motor was broken, the water was also swimming in dead skin and things, guessing the.fikter works off of the motor also. They said they couldn't move us because the boss wasn't in and just said to walk over to an empty lodges hot tub anytime we wanted to use it. Not ideal walking over to another lodge in the pitch-black, freezing cold in your swimwear. We did it once then refused to do this again. The whole point in paying for a hot tub lodge was the hot tub. We did notice that the working hot tub was way hotter, a lot cleaner and jets worked. On Saturday we went to use the oven and only the grill worked, baking jacket spuds was a challenge. The Fridge barely worked, nothing got particularly cold. The site looked lovely, but all walkways fields and forests were closed off to the public which was a shame. I certainly would nit have booked this if I knew I wouldn't be getting a working hot tub."
Branden - Oct 2024
"It's a dirty. We went to 2 lodges and both were just as dirty and unclean. It appeared no one had done any cleaning at all, apart from change the bedding and towels. Cleaning standards should be high with the amount of changeovers and people that come in and out of these lodges. Such a disgusting place to stay. The staff are very good and looked after us, however the cleaners do nothing or very very little. I would not recommend"
Verified Guest - Oct 2024
"Wouldn't return cold bath and shower lodge shabby hot tub only 35, 36 degrees staff ignorant worse lodge we have stayed in"
Verified Guest - Sep 2024
"Was a fab chilled week away. Watching shooting stars from the hot tub was awesome. Great location for national trust visiting and other historic places or if you wanted shopping there were towns for that. The lodge had everything you need. Downsides minor.. tv not having any signal but we knew our Netflix account so could watch that. People walking their dogs at night round the back of lodge with their torches when youre in hot tub frightens the life out of you!! ????"
Tracey - Sep 2024
"You could see the cabin was quite old and worn. The bed was very comfortable and clean."
Verified Guest - Sep 2024
"Perfect, so comfortable and excellent location."
Verified Guest - Sep 2024
"Very disappointed with the lodge we were in (lodge 30). From the outside it looked clean an well maintained, however this wasn't the case once inside. The cleanliness of the lodge was terrible and looked like it hadn't been cleaned prior to us arriving. The floors were covered in dirt, the dog pulled out a pair of dirty socks from under the table and there was food down by the side of the fridge. The "en-suite" shower leaked heavily from the tray which flooded the bedroom floor which was not ideal. The bed sheets had a hole in them and were stained (i hope they were just stained) and there was cobwebs and dust next to the bedside table which looked as though it had been there for weeks. On the decking there was bottle tops and corks left from the previous lodgers. Unfortunately due to us arriving after 5 there was nobody in reception to bring these issues up with and we ended up cleaning ourselves. With a bit of maintenance and TLC the lodge could be a really good holiday experience."
John - Sep 2024
"Beautiful clean and spacious lodge. Well equipped. Hot tub great. Very quiet and secluded place. Would stay again."

"Very nice facilities. Everything I needed was provided"
Kmt - Aug 2024
"Fantastic holiday lodge that has been done up to a high standard. It felt like we had arrived at a hotel with the extras of slippers and robes being supplied. Central to all local attractions and the hot tub was a extra bonus to relax in at the end of a busy day."
Amy - Aug 2024
"Loved our lodge. It was very clean and comfortable. It had everything we needed for our weeks stay with our two dogs. The location was excellent and the enclosed decking area meant we could leave the patio doors open without the risk of the dogs wandering off. The bed was very comfortable and the Egyptian cotton bedding was a delight to sleep in. We really couldnt fault the lodge at all and would highly recommend."
Gwen - Jul 2024
"Nice clean spacious lodge"
Jan - May 2024
"Lovely lodge, warm and comfortable. Well equipped with some thoughtful touches like dressing gowns for the kids and dog treats etc. Hot tub was fantastic. Rooms clean and comfortable Shame the site didnt have access at all to surrounding woodlands so we had to get in the car to explore anywhere,"
Daniel - Apr 2024
"Not informed about building work and unable to take our dog into woodland and front desk staff dismissive about our concerns"
Verified Guest - Apr 2024
"At the request of sherwood hideaways we moved to another lodge. Unable to rate the above accommodation as we didn't stay there."
Verified Guest - Mar 2024
"Not luxury its a grubby tired lodge needing an overhaul"
Verified Guest - Mar 2024
"Have been able to compare this dog friendly 2 bed lodge with a one bedroom we had stayed in previously and was just as well presented with all the facilities and cleanliness but larger communal space. Same private decking and hot tub looking out onto grass area with woodland backdrop with plenty of wildlife. We were next to other dog friendly lodges but weren't disturbed at all. Some lodges were also occupied but again we weren't disturbed. Ideal parking area. A lovely lodge."
Verified Guest - Mar 2024
"We book this sherwood hideaway cos it was close to home, because I've been looking after my dad full time since my mum past away last year. When we got there all we wanted to do was unpack an relax. The hot tub was freezing, checked all night still freezing. Round the top of the hot tub was mucky. We was there for 7 days Monday to Monday the lady only come and checked the Friday after being there 5 days. The gate lack was broken we had to put the dog lead round so the dogs wouldn't get out. Then when we came to leaving I striped the beds and the quilt was disgusting. I wish I'd have saved my money."
Alison - Feb 2024
"We really enjoyed our stay. Lodge 23 was perfect for us. Out of the way in a quiet corner????????"
Verified Guest - Jan 2024
"Great thanks"
Verified Guest - Dec 2023
"Lovely cabin and my suggestions below did not detract from us enjoying our stay but would have made me think the site had thought of everything. The main bathroom could do with a proper shower with a high up shower head over the bath (as well as the current low one as handy for swilling the dog off). The kids had to come in and use ours which is fine but I wouldn't want that if we came with friends. Also there were no plug sockets in the double bedroom, which with a teenager didn't go down well.As I said we had a great time and these are only suggestions."
Paul - Nov 2023
"Been in better lodges for the money. Just needs a few things updating. Knifes broken in block. No bottle opener. Comfortable beds and lovely and warm. Very quiet and peaceful."

"We had an amazing time- the hideaway was lovely, we fell for a great weekend. The rooms were lovely, everything we needed and the two fridges were handy. Comfy beds, wonderful hot tub- just a lovely relaxing weekend. Only issue and it’s a non issue, the settees weren’t very comfy- but honestly, we will be back. Amazing. Thank you ?"
