Landal Whitbarrow Reviews

"We loved exploring the charming village theyve built here. The Skiddow was really close to the car park and main areas like reception, restaurant and bar, which was super convenient. The cottage was spotless, roomy and cosy. The kitchen had all the basics. Overall, a great stay-well be back for sure!"
Emma Carter - Jan 2025
"Great kitchen, everything was super comfy too!"
Simon - Jan 2025
"Beautiful scenery, really enjoyed the walk, highly recommend!"
Emma Johnson - Dec 2024
"We had an amazing stay! The lodge was super cosy and well stocked, making it feel like a home away from home. The hot tub was a real highlight, so relaxing after a day out. Well be back!"
Emma - Nov 2024
"Our Landal Whitbarrow review: We had a lovely stay here! The location is perfect for exploring the Lake District and its so convenient for hitting all the main attractions. Wed definitely come back again."
Emily Carter - Oct 2024
"Great value for money, really enjoyed our stay."
Sam - Sep 2024
"Overall, we really enjoyed the stay. The cottage was spotless and had everything we needed. The only downside was the hot tub shutting down at 9pm, which wasnt explained beforehand. Also, its quite exposed, so privacy was a bit lacking."
Emma - Sep 2024
"Had a great stay! The spot was spot-on and theres plenty nearby for nature lovers and those who enjoy stunning views. Would definitely return."
Alex - Aug 2024
"The cottage was lovely overall, but the bath water flow was a bit slow and the toilet flush could use some fixing. Still, charming place!"
Emma - Jun 2024
"Had a lovely time with friends, really enjoyed the stay."
Emma - May 2024
"We had an absolutely lovely stay here and definitely plan to return. The Troutbeck cabin was super cosy and really well stocked with everything we needed for cooking, though we did have to use scissors for pizza since there wasnt a cutter! The layout was pretty unique - all the bedrooms are downstairs and the living space is upstairs, which gave it a bit of an upside-down feel. The main living area was warm and inviting, perfect for relaxing after a day out. Inside, everything was spotless and the beds were really comfy, making it easy to unwind. The location is quite remote, which we actually enjoyed for the peace and quiet, though Penrith isnt exactly nearby for shops - its a bit of a drive. On the plus side, there were some tea bags, coffee and milk sachets waiting for us, so we could have hot drinks right away. The only minor thing was that the hot tub access is through the patio doors in the main bedroom, but honestly, it didnt really bother us. We had a cracking time and would definitely come back!"
Ellie - Apr 2024
"We booked around Christmas and honestly, the whole vibe was pretty lacklustre. The bar closed early on Christmas Eve and was shut on Christmas Day unless you had a reservation for a meal, which was a bit disappointing. The outdoor lights were really underwhelming - more of a fire hazard than festive! The staff didnt seem very cheerful either, so we left early. We used to love this place, but not anymore."
George - Jan 2024
"We had an amazing holiday, loved the accommodation and the whole site. Such a beautiful part of the world!"
Oliver - Aug 2020
"The place was really lovely, peaceful and well laid out. Only thing missing was a tumble drier-drying wet clothes took forever, which was a bit of a pain."
Emma - Aug 2020
"Wouldve appreciated knowing about the shared patio."
Martin - Aug 2020
"Really enjoyed our stay! The place was spotless and everyone was super friendly. Loved how peaceful it was-no noisy groups or loud music, just a nice, calm vibe. Kids adored the ducks!"
Sarah - Jul 2020
"Really enjoyed the stay, though a king size bed would've been perfect for us."
Tom - Mar 2020
"We expected a bigger setup from the photos, but honestly, we really enjoyed the whole experience!"
Emma - Feb 2020
"Great experience, highly recommend"
Laura - Feb 2020
"We had such a lovely stay! The lodge was spotless and super comfy, which made everything so easy. The kids couldnt get enough of the swimming pool, golf and the park - they had a blast. The restaurant was spot on too. There are loads of nice places nearby to explore. Only thing missing was our little dog, its tough leaving him behind, honestly. Cant wait to come back!"
Emma - Jan 2020
"We stayed in a lovely cottage that comfortably fit eight, but the dining area only had seats for six, so two of us ended up eating on the sofa, which was a bit awkward. Also, it would be great if there was a small shop on-site - we forgot some essentials and had no nearby place to grab them. Still, overall, a nice stay!"
Emma Roberts - Jan 2020
"Comfortable stay, would recommend"
Oliver - Jan 2020
"Really enjoyed it, but the hot tub had issues. Cheers!"
Emma - Jan 2020
"Loved every moment, can't wait to return!"
Emma - Dec 2019
"Great service, definitely returning soon"
Emma - Dec 2019
"We loved the peaceful vibe and the luxurious feel of the place. The hot tub was a real treat!"
Emma - Dec 2019
"Looking forward to our return!"
Emma - Nov 2019
"Really enjoyed the stay, the place had everything we needed!"
Lucy - Nov 2019
"Fun space, would visit again"
James - Nov 2019
"We had such a great time! Definitely returning and maybe staying a little longer next time."
Emma - Nov 2019
"It's the first time for us there and we will be back very enjoyable Staff were fabulous thank you ?"
Joan - Aug 2022
"Excellent setup and location in need of balconies painting and restaurant closed 2 days, which we understand due to short taff in the kitchen but the bar could of been open. All in we have stayed 10 times and will make it 11 then 12+"
Gary - Jul 2022
"We stayed in Caldew 1, myself, my husband and two children aged 7 and 11. The contact free check in worked very well. I arranged an online shop for an hour after we arrived at reception. This was great but next time would meet the van in the guest car park as there is more space. The lodge was well equipped and very clean. The children used the swimming pool twice a day which was fantastic. Our hot tub was serviced every day and we had lots of fun using that. Places I would recommend a visit to with children are - Lowther Castle (huge adventure play area), Aira Force (the kids played in the stream for hours), and Brougham Castle. We packed lunches everyday which saved money. A big thank you to the reception staff at Whitbarrow Village who worked hard to make our stay enjoyable. My daughter particularly enjoyed feeding the ducks with the food you gave her"
Liane - Jul 2022
"Staff were very kind and attentive. The entire place is spotless"
Nikola - Jul 2022
"We had a fantastic few nights Surroundings are stunning as is the accommodation and facilities. Very calming place and lots for the kids. We really enjoyed the pool which was spotlessly clean. The staff were lovely and so helpful at the main reception. Food in the restaurant was delicious. We would return tomorrow ?"
Joanne - Jul 2022
"Great holiday super facilities"
David - Jun 2022
"We stayed in one of the ullswater apartments and it was fab...Nice spacious room, well equipped little kitchenette with hob sink and microwave oven large spacious bathroom, good shower. The site had lovely outdoor areas and plenty to keep kids amused mini golf and the swimming pool were a big hit. Great location for exploring the lakes really easy to get to everywhere. Would definitely stay again!"
Kelly - Jun 2022
"I’m absolutely delighted about staying there just feeling Sad because we stayed there too short…4 night definitely too short. We will back next year ??"

We love this day out in Cumbria where you're encouraged to "take a fresh look".  Some of the amazing animals you will get to see include the only Canadian Lynx in the UK and you will have the opportunity to help their Lynx Conservation Project.  The Asian Fishing Cat is also well worth a look - these cats are known for diving under the water and catching fish!  Other activities include fantastic flying displays and play areas for the little ones...

Rydal Mount & Gardens are wonderfully situated between Lake Windermere and Rydal Water offering breathtaking scenery. The home of William Wordsworth from 1813 - 1850 the grand home is now lived in by the poets descendents but parts of the house and grounds are open to the public. Why not take a guided tour and see the rooms where many of the famous poems were written. The gardens are beautiful at all times of the year but in the summer offer a spectacular display of colour. There is also a gallery and a tearoom. Discounts are available for group bookings.

The museum holds large and important collections of zoological, botanical and geological material. And for lovers of history there is plenty to wet your appetite here. Tullie House collects a wide range of historic materials including objects, ephemera (printed material), photographs and associated information files.  We think this museum and art gallery are excellent value for money as well.
Lakeland Wildlife Oasis - LA6 1JH

Located in the Milnthorpe area of Cumbria we love this local attraction.  With an eclectic mix of fascinating wildlife and hands on displays this centre is educational as well as fun.  You can wander around at leisure admiring the exhibits which range from chameleons to computers. Some of the most threatened species are kept at the park as part if international breeding programmes.  Check out their website for the latest opening times and admission costs which are great value for money.  There are discounts for pre-booked parties of 12 or more.
