Each lodge here represents the height of luxury and we particularly like Tomatin Lodge as it's extremely spacious and has a master double and one single room and has an open plan living area with kitchen and diner. You can make the most of all weathers with a wood-burning stove for the chilly nights and your own private hot tub with amazing views of the River Fechlin and the surrounding mountains for the warmer evenings.

The South Loch Ness Trail takes in seven lochs and stretches for 28 miles between Loch Tarff to Troutbeck with several viewpoints where you can take in the magical Loch Ness. Urquhart Castle in Drumnadrochit is a historical ruin that overlooks Loch Ness and is embedded in local folklore and legend.

Wildside Highland Lodges Reviews

"We had such a great time! The lodge by the river was perfect-serene and stunning. Everything we needed was there, plus a lovely welcome pack. Relaxing in the hot tub with that view was definitely the cherry on top. Can't wait to return; it was just what we needed for some proper R&R!"
Emma - Mar 2025
"We had a lovely stay and definitely plan to come back. Next time, were aiming for spring or summer so we can explore those more daring hikes nearby. That said, winter was still perfect for us to relax, reset and enjoy quality family time. The dogs absolutely loved it too - they were in their element! We really didnt want to leave."
Emma - Jan 2025
"Absolutely loved our stay, the lodge was stunning and super comfy! Thanks."
Emma Carter - Jan 2025
"Overall, we had a good stay. The lodge was quite clean, though a few areas showed signs of wear. Its a bit tired and could do with some fresh paint and varnish, but nothing major. Nice enough!"
James - Nov 2024
"Our Wildside Highland Lodges review: Really enjoyed our stay, such a tranquil spot with lovely views."
George - Oct 2024
"We had a fantastic stay! The location of Otter Lodge really made our trip special."
Mr. James Carter - Oct 2024
"Really enjoyed the peaceful vibe and warm hot tub."
Emma Carter - Oct 2024
"We had such a cosy stay here! The location is stunning, especially the drive to Fort Augustus - really breathtaking scenery. The lodge might be a bit on the small side compared to others, but the beds were super comfy and we appreciated the extra touches like the bed linen, towels and kitchen supplies. Its rare to find a place with everything from washing up liquid to oven gloves included, so that was a real bonus. The sofa was lovely to sink into after a day out, especially with the view from the window. Water pressure and temperature were spot on, which is always a plus. The bath was a bit bouncy when standing in the shower if youre a bigger person like me, but thats personal really. Loved that they refresh the hot tub for each guest - very thoughtful. We grabbed some food on the way, but forgot bread, though we found some at the petrol station in Fort Augustus - bit pricey. Definitely dont miss the Falls of Foyers, just a quick 10-minute drive, but watch out for kamikaze grouse! The pub up the hill is a lovely spot with great food, just a couple of minutes walk. Would come back for sure!"
Jamie - Oct 2024
"Great spot, would visit again"
Emma Carter - Oct 2024
"The sofa in the lounge isnt the most comfy, but honestly, we didnt mind too much. The lodges location was perfect for our honeymoon - super secluded, cosy and warm. The hot tub was a real highlight for unwinding after busy days. We had a lovely time, thanks!"
Emma Carter - Sep 2024
"We had a fantastic holiday! Hoping this beautiful part of the world stays just as lovely."
Martin - Sep 2024
"Good value overall"
James - Sep 2024
"We loved the setting, especially the wildlife and friendly locals. The pub nearby served fantastic food and the hosts made us feel so welcome."
Emma - Sep 2024
"Really enjoyed our stay, lovely place and peaceful environment."
Sam - Sep 2024
"Honestly, we were quite disappointed with this place. The lodge wasn't anywhere near the luxury vibe we expected. The laminate flooring was peeling off the kitchen cupboards, which was a bit grim. The website claimed it was family-friendly, but there was no wifi for the teenagers and nothing on-site either-no board games or anything, despite what was advertised. We tried the hot tub, but the robe had someone else's tissue in the pocket, which was pretty gross. It's miles from anywhere and the wifi was patchy at best. We spoke to staff about the kitchen repairs and they said they were already working on some lodges. For what we paid, it was just not worth it. We definitely wouldnt come back here."
Emma Carter - Jul 2024
"We had a lovely stay! The lodge was spotless, super comfy beds and really peaceful - perfect for unwinding."
Emma Carter - Jun 2024
"We had a lovely stay, really enjoyed the peaceful countryside. Plenty of activities nearby, cabins are super comfy."
Emily Carter - Jun 2024
"The lodge was spotless and had top-notch amenities, which we really appreciated. Plenty of room for my wife, me and our big dog George. The hot tub was perfect for unwinding after a busy day, loved it!"
Oliver Grant - Mar 2024
"The sofa in the lounge was definitely worn out and really needs replacing soon, sadly."
Marco - Feb 2024
"Absolutely loved our stay! Stunning views, comfy lodges and top-notch amenities. Cant wait to return!"
James - Feb 2024
"We loved the lodge - super cosy and charming. The remote spot meant total peace, only reachable by car, which was just what we needed for a quiet break. We day-tripped to Loch Ness and had a blast sledging in the Cairngorms. Already planning our next trip!"
Emma - Feb 2024
"Absolutely loved our little getaway, cant wait to come back sometime soon!"
Emma Collins - Jan 2024
"The place is so peaceful, perfect for dog walks and wildlife spotting. We loved the wild feel and cant wait to come back again this year! Its just stunning."
Sam - Jan 2024
"We had an amazing Christmas stay! The lodge was super cosy, private and just what we needed. Staff were lovely!"
Emma - Jan 2024
"Had a really nice stay, the staff were super friendly and welcoming throughout."
Sarah - Jan 2024
"We had such a lovely stay! The cabin was truly stunning, with breathtaking views that made every morning special. The kids loved chilling in the hot tub, especially watching the sheep graze nearby - its such a peaceful place. The place felt super cosy, well-equipped and beautifully decorated with nice little touches. Honestly, we couldnt find any faults. If you're after a calm, relaxing break, wed definitely recommend this spot. Wed love to come back!"
Emily Carter - Dec 2023
"Really disappointed, no restaurant at all, was expecting something different."
James - Dec 2023
"The lodge was stunning, super clean and had everything we needed. The WiFi and phone signal were pretty weak unless we headed near the hot tub, but honestly, it didnt ruin our stay. The view was amazing and it felt so private, loved it!"
Emma - Nov 2023
"We stayed at Glen Mhor Lodge recently and honestly, it was lovely. The place was spotless when we arrived and the hot tub was kept really clean, checked daily which was great. The inside felt spacious enough for us, our dog and all our stuff. The beds were super comfy, so we had some really good sleeps. The kitchen had everything we needed for our stay, which made things so much easier. Also, the welcome pack was a sweet touch. Outside, the grounds were gorgeous - perfect for the dog to chill out and watch the birds. If I had to pick a tiny downside, the lounge chairs werent the most comfy, but cushions sorted that. Wed definitely come back!"
Alexandra - Nov 2023
"During our stay, we noticed the bath was quite difficult to drain and the sink was the same. We had to use our hands as a makeshift plunger to clear the bath a bit. The four-slice toaster only worked on the left side, but other than that, the place was tidy and had all we needed. Not perfect, but okay."
Emma - Nov 2023
"Beautiful location, amazing views with spacious clean accommodation. Bed was so comfy! Showers not the most powerful. Staff are friendly and helpful. Site does benefit from nearby pub for evening meals, which are very large portions."
Jacqui - Jul 2022
"What a lovely place to stay. Helpful staff, Beautiful surroundings, Hot tub a fantastic bonus. We felt so relaxed for the whole time we spent there. I would definitely recommend this place."
VANESSA - Jul 2022
"Thoroughly enjoyed a 4 night break to recharge our batteries, hot tub, hotel within walking distance, lovely scenery for walking and best of all very little phone signal - sheer bliss ?"
Aileen - Jun 2022
"Stunning setting, quiet location we had a great week away exploring the local area, local pub excellent food and very friendly welcomes dogs, would return to wildside logdes. The lodge was beautiful and everything you needed the hot tub was great for relaxing after walking."
Aimee - Jun 2022
"Amazing lodges, spotless clean everything you need. Staff are very friendly Would return, hot tub fab"
Joanne - Jun 2022
"Fantastic place and location, great views and walks. 10 out of 10"
