The small collection of lodges and private driveway entrance give Bryn Mechell a somewhat exclusive feel and you will be just 2 miles from the pretty harbour village of Cemaes Bay.  The Anglesey coastline stretches for 125 miles and has been awarded 'Area of Outstanding National Beauty', so there can be no better place to explore.

The lodges offer a spacious base for your holiday.  We love the Woodpecker Lodge which has the added bonus of an outdoor hot tub.  This lodge with 3 bedrooms has an open plan living space, floor to ceiling windows and outside decking.

"A nice peaceful break"

"Tge house has been repaired since the last reviews. But still needs work on the cleaning. The bed settee had old sheets covering the mattress and these were covered in mouse droppings. There was food and bits in all settees that should of been cleaned up. The house should have its own hover and mop to help the occupiers with this. The fridge was stinking full of spilt milk and old and food reminants. The oven door was very dirty . Hence we didn't cook in there and ate out every day. There was lots of dust around and cobwebs."

"There was cobwebs everywhere. Lots of tiny flies everywhere. There was food leftover in cupboards from previous guest. There was no cutting board or good knives. There were no curtains in the main bedroom with only blinds that let in lots of light. There were bloodstains and black mould on the pillows. There was a broken bed which I fell through and bumped my head. There was no one to meet us to give us instructions of things like waste disposal or recycling and there was no written information either."

"Lovely spacious house. Very helpful staff. Everything we needed was in the house already for us.

Bathrooms cold but keep socks on or slippers lol

Oven can be tricky to work but once you know its fine.

Other than that no cons. Was a lovely place and will be booking again!"

"Oven and hot tub both faulty. House itself was spotless. Could do with power showers installing given how many occupants it hold. Dining table not big enough for more than 8 people (we were booked for 15 but only 7 could attend in the end)."

"Stayed with 14 girls for a long weekend and had the best time.. Already looking to go back again next year in the summer to be able to take advantage of the huge garden!

Only downside.. toaster a little temperamental, could do with more glasses, utensils and more than toilet/kitchen rolls and cleaning products to wash up etc."

Although we have had an enjoyable time, as the property was well maintained and spacious, there are a couple of minuses that we would like highlight. No light in the garden to allow us to safely use the hot tub, also the water in the hot tub has not been changed during our stay, despite the fact we have asked the maintenance man that said this will only be done when we depart. The hot tub was one of the criteria we have chosen this property for, obviously paying a higher rate, however the service was not the expected one. Also, as a suggestion, a property of seven bedrooms should have more than two bathrooms, which were huge, however one person at the time could use it. It will be a huge plus, if at least on bathroom/toilet was to be added. Overall, a nice stay."

"We have visited Bryn Mechell 3 times now and each time the friendly staff at the site have the perfect balance between being accessible but not being seen, while they are there. The site itself is basic but this is a big positive for us as we love peace, relaxing and have teenage children who only look at small screens or like looking around Anglesey for hours; no swimming pool or arcade games required here!
If you need lots of activities for children, the negative about Bryn Mechell is that you will need to drive some distance to find this - if you want peace and calm, Bryn Mechell is nirvana..."

"We loved the lodge. It had everything we needed. Sometimes when you go away with your pets you find you are shoved in less than nice accommodation but this isn't the case here. You and your pets are made very welcome. I really cannot praise the site high enough immaculately clean, well looked after, well equipped with friendly staff who were always onhand without being over bearing. What more could you ask for? We WILL be back!!!"

"This was our second time staying here. It has taken a dip since first visit. Bed was broken, hot tub was dirty and jets not fully working. Despite this it is still a beautiful house in a stunning part of Wales. Just needs a bit of refurbishment to get it back to its best."

Penrhyn Castle is a neo-Norman castle is located in the stunning Gwynedd region of Wales. The castle will appeal to those who enjoy sites of historical interest as well as to families looking to enjoy a fun day out. The Castle is in very good condition and guided tours are on offer. Don't miss a look at the grand hall with its exquisite collection of paintings or the Victorian Kitchen which gives amazing insight into the running of the Castle. Other highlights include the Servants Rooms and the one ton slate bed which was originally made for Queen Victoria.
Greenwood Forest Park - LL55 3AD

This attraction is really something special and has reached the finals of the "Best Family Day Out" category in the National Tourism Awards for Wales.  It's actually the only attraction in North Wales to be shortlisted for this prestigious award. Located in the Snowdonia region there are many rides and activities including Jungle Boat Adventure, Den Building, Green Dragon Roller Caoster, Treetop Towers and the BareFoot Trail.  Kids of all ages will love it here and we think it's excellent value as well.
Great Orme Ancient Mines - LL30 2XG
about 25 Miles
A visit to Great Orme Ancient Mines is offers a fun and educational daytrip for families. The amazing site allows visitors to explore the copper mines which are thought to date back to the Bronze Age but were only discovered in 1987 during a landscaping project. The tours provide an insight into the way of life for miners over 3,500 years ago. A family ticket is just £16.00
Welsh Mountain Zoo - LL28 5UY
about 30 Miles
Located in the North of Wales with a spectacular setting high above Colwyn Bay this is a lovely zoo which makes an excellent family day out.  Highlights include the Chimp Encounter, Penguin Parades, Bear Falls and the Children's Farm.  The setting is perfect for walking around and you can take in the superb scenery, roam the wooded pathways and relax on the grassy slopes.  There are many rare and endangered species to see and learn about including the Snow Leopards and the Red Pandas not to mention the Sumatran Tigers. You can also buy the experience of being a zoo keeper for a day, either for yourself or as a gift.

Glasfryn Activity Parc is an award winning year round attraction with plenty of facilities to keep the whole family happy. Quad Bikes, Archery, Soft Play and even Wakeboarding can all be enjoyed. The site also has a fantastic farm shop, a café and 10 pin bowing complex.
