We love the Cathedral View Lodge Plus which offers panoramic views of The Fens and of course the wonderful lake.  The interior of the lodge is well designed with an open plan layout and even a coffee machine!  Outside you can enjoy the views from the decking and your own private hot tub.  With two bedrooms this lodge sleeps up to 6 people.

Another fantastic accommodation option is Egret House which also sleeps 6.  This beautiful and luxurious cottage offers plenty of space as well as a fantastic patio with outdoor hot tub and stunning views.

If you like fishing then you'll be in your element here with fishing available from the lake in site.  You won't have to travel to indulge in this relaxing hobby.

For a fun day out head to Weeting Castle.  Packed full of history and used right up until the 18th century this is a memorable experience.   Oxburgh Hall Garden in Kings Lynn is also well worth a visit.  You can take a garden tour or a woodland walk.

Head Fen Country Retreat Reviews

"Absolutely beautiful setting .The cottage was so clean and comfortable for all 4 of us ."
Michael - Jul 2022
"what a lovely remote place this was. would recommend this place if you want peace and quite"
GARRY - Jul 2022
"We had a lovely few days here. The receptionist rang on the Monday morning to go over a few things which was helpful, she did say they empty the hot tubs after each guest has left so it may not be up to temperature at our booking in time of 4pm it was at 34.5 degrees about 6.30pm which was ok with us and we did adjust the temperature so it was hotter for the next night. We took our dog and the park has lakes that you can walk round, we had lovely sunsets that we could watch from our deck area every night. We booked out of season (2 weeks prior to the school holidays) so the prices weren't too bad, but I feel you lose two days with a 4pm check in and 9am check out and the following week prices had doubled which surprised me as its a very quiet place, more geared for adults than children. But it was a lovely place and I'd definitely book again."
JULIE - Jul 2022
"Great place for couples - I wouldnt recommend for kiddies - the cabins and surroundings are great for adults wanting a break maybe a bit of fishing (mainly carp)"
Julia - Jun 2022

"Was a lovely place really clean. Location was very picturesque .the cottage was very spacious. The lake outside the cottage was very tranquil we sat watching the fish and ducks."
Wendy - May 2022
"The pod we stayed in was lovely the only complaint was the two little chairs they were so uncomfortable if it had a 2 seater sofa it would have been perfect"
Mandie - May 2022
"Very relaxing holiday, just what we needed"
Pauline - May 2022

"Amazing, peaceful and beautiful location. Stayed in an Egret Lodge which served two adults, two children and a dog with plenty of space. Hadn't realised there were also laundry facilities on site. Local amenities 10 mins drive. Would love to return."

The site also has a family friendly cycle route a gift shop and a small café
Melsop Farm Park - NR20 3DT
about 29 Miles
We love this attraction in Scoulton, Norfolk with a great collection of animals.  Children and adults alike have the chance to get hands on with the animals in the special handling areas.  On rainy days there is always the indoor play area for the little ones and when it's time for a bite to eat the cafe on the farm is open all day selling drinks and snacks.  Hot food is available over lunch times.
Banham Zoo - NR16 2HE

This award winning wildlife attraction has much to offer both families and couples looking for a fun and educational day out.  You can discover a whole wild world of animals with over 1000 different animals from around the world. You will probably want to try and spend the whole day here so you don's miss out on anything.  Highlights include the amazing animals presentation, the birds of prey display and the feeding talks, all of which take place at set times of the day.  This attraction is fantastic value for money and highly recommended.  Their latest event is the Snow Leopard Club Naming Auction and there has recently been a baby giraffe born at the zoo.
The Royal Forest of Rockingham - LE16 8UW
about 35 Miles
The Royal Forest of Rockingham in Northamptonshire is the perfect place to enjoy a range of outdoor pursuits including Walking, Cycling, Nature Trails and Horse Riding. The beautiful medieval hunting forest offers areas of ancient woodlands, agricultural land and peaceful stone-built forest villages. The forest is also abundant with wildlife including Deer, Squirrels, Butterflies and Birds.

This beautiful area of national parkland is home to a huge range of common and rare birds from sparrows to Red Crowned Cranes and also has a red squirrel enclosure - part of a conservation programme and now home to a family of adorable squirrels. Other activities to enjoy at Pensthorpe include pond dipping and Landrover discovery tours. Pensthorpe also played host to BBC'S Springwatch in 2010.
