A tranquil getaway, surrounded by nature awaits you at Landal Rockingham Forest, where their wide range of lodges are ideal for couples or families. Great those who don’t want to leave their four-legged friends behind as well, Landal’s woodland setting provides means it provides a range of natural trails to be explored. And with plenty of activities available in nearby beautiful Wansford and Northamptonshire, what’s not to love?
Whilst the gorgeous contemporary cabins at Landal Rockingham Forest will provide you with everything you could need on your holiday, the on-site shop is undoubtedly handy to have! So, when you want to cook up a storm but can’t find that one secret ingredient, head on over to see what they have in stock.
Set up a smaller base at the Chesterton lodge, where guests can relax over two bedrooms: the king-size master bedroom with en-suite shower room, and the twin bedroom, which can be turned into a super-king if you’d prefer. Both are also complete with widescreen televisions, so there’s no need to be arguing about what to watch! Catch up during the day in the open plan lounge and dining area or get the party going at night by hooking up your electronic devices to the Bluetooth speakers. But the real gem of Chesterton, as well as the other accommodation types mentioned here, are the hot tubs. Chesterton’s happens to be a jacuzzi hot tub, so is perfect for relaxing in after a day’s exploring whilst admiring the wonders of the woodland in the evening.
But if booking the Chesterton lodge means you have to leave family behind, why not book a larger version? The Yarwell lodge is a particular favourite of ours, sleeping six people within a king-size master bedroom (with en-suite shower room), king-sized bed (with en-suite bathroom), and a twin with en-suite shower room. If the weather isn’t holding up, there’s enough room to relax inside over the open plan lounge and dining area. But when the sun finally decides to shine, head outside onto your private decking area, complete with outside seating and a BBQ stand. Like Chesterton, dogs are also allowed at this lodge (for a small extra charge)!
There’s plenty to explore outside of the forest too, many of which are ideal for families. Enjoy the wonders of the great outdoors at Sacrewell Farm and Country Centre, where visitors can explore the restored eighteenth century watermill and kids can meet the resident animals or be let loose inside the indoor soft play area. Well-behaved dogs who are on holiday in the Yarwell lodge with you are also welcome on-site, and at just a five-minute drive away, no-one will have enough time to get restless on the journey! Feel free to fuel up at the café with a slice of cake and some coffee before picking up a souvenir from the on-site shop and remember to check their events page before your visit to see what else is on.
If your family prefers the wilder side to life, Wicksteed Park is a great choice and although it’s roughly a forty-minute drive away, it’s worth it to spend the day there, particularly for those with small children. They’ll love experiencing their first rollercoaster ride on the clown coaster, or those a bit older might want to experience the dizzying heights of the sway rider! For a different kind of encounter, guests can also visit the Aviary to see beautiful birds of all shapes, colours and sizes, or check in with Meerkat Manor to see what the meerkats are up to. Double check the events page before your visit to see what’s on, from their very own Oktoberfest to Wicky’s Mini Monsters Ball, there really is something for all the family.
