Rivendale Lodge Retreat Reviews

"Super lodge all mod cons."
Verified Guest - Apr 2024
"It has everything that you need. Beds are really comfortable and a great layout. The second time we've stayed in this type of lodge, great for 3 adults."
Lisa - Apr 2024
"Lovely lodge and this one had a great view too."
Verified Guest - Apr 2024
"Stunning accommodation"
Amanda - Apr 2024
"It would appear that the top of the fridge/freezer as well as the extraction cover over the hob are never dusted. The tv base table also needed a good clean"
Sharon - Apr 2024
"Great location p, facilities were very high spec. Could have been slightly cleaner."
Verified Guest - Apr 2024
"Well equipped and clean, it did smell of dogs which we dont like as we have no dogs. I am not sure if there is an option to select a pet free lodge."
Jonathan - Apr 2024
"I would return as overall positive experience. It is not a luxury get away, but it is a step above the usual caravan holiday. Pros:- visually pleasing lodge with hot tub- nice restaurant that is dog friendly - friendly staff- great location for nice walks/short drive to some other nice walking locations.- has dog washwhich we used everydaywith warm water.Cons:- no breakfast or lunch available at the restaurant. - lodge was visually nice but was not good quality cheap plastic everywhere. It could have been cleaner. There was cobwebs in various places, cracks in the plaster of the walls and dust on top of cupboards.- no welcome hamper and had to hire/rent out bathrobes for hot tub.- hot tub needed more privacy screens, only had one and was overlooked by 4 lodges. - lodge located near to main road, resulting in disrupted sleep. Could hear cars and more so lorries going past."
Verified Guest - Apr 2024
"The lodge was superb very very clean and tidy the cleaners clearly do a superb job the two showers and bath were ideal beds super comfy and the whole kitchen and lounge area was lovely .. sadly couldnt use the deck outdoor area due to the weather but thats something we cant change"
Ian - Apr 2024
"Lovely holiday lodge. The decor was amazing and it had all the facilities youd want whilst on holiday."
David - Apr 2024
"Perfect space for the two of us! Basics were provided which is always a plus, had everything we needed for the week."
Alice - Apr 2024
"Great lodge with all we needed - a couple of lamps in the main living area would make it more cosy as the spotlights are very bright. We overcame this by turning the ones off in the seating area with the TV and leaving the kitchen and dining lights on. A standing lamp would be good in a corner but understand its another thinks to rep clean with guests leaving and arriving so regularly!"
Sarah - Mar 2024
"We had a wonderful 4-night stay in one of the premier lodges. It was immaculately clean, the bed was very comfy and had everything we needed in the kitchen. The hot tub was delightful and well worth it even on rainy days. Can't fault our stay, had a great time."
Imogen - Mar 2024
"Perfect 100% recommend couldn't fault it,staff super friendly and couldn't do enough."
Verified Guest - Mar 2024
"Very clean lodge with hot tub that was cleaned twice per day. Washing machine, dryer and dishwasher were available. Homely feeling inside the lodge. Not a lot to do in the area but it was nice just to chill and relax. Felt like the hours of use with the hot tub could have been later at night. You could only use the hot tub until 11 pm. Could have been a bit later than that. No toilet rolls available, so do take your own if you book here. Enjoyed our stay there."
Hannah - Mar 2024
"Have stayed here a couple of times and the lodge are lovely but the cleaning standard was not good my wife had to clean kitchen and the toilet seat would not stay up the kitchen blind fell on her but it is a lovely place ."
Verified Guest - Mar 2024
"Really top quality, kitchen was excellent"
Verified Guest - Mar 2024
"Great little lodge perfect for a couples break. Nice clean and tidy. Good layout"
Verified Guest - Mar 2024
"We stayed in the dovedale pet friendly lodge. The lodge was lovely and clean and definitely pet friendly with gate at the door so dog couldn't escape if left open. It was also nice that the dog was left a gift of a new toy and some dog treats. The lodge was spacious and the bathroom was outstanding with lovely freestanding bath and walk in shower. Large veranda to sit outside and lovely little lights to turn on at night made sitting outside enjoyable. Would definitely come again"
Verified Guest - Mar 2024
"Every thing you wanted fridge , washer and dish washer but you need to bring all the supplies to use these. Furniture was good but the sofa had a cut in the seat cushion which you couldnt turn over so you didnt make it worse. Lovelly bathroom both shower and bath. Bed comfortable. We are returning again in April ."
Linda - Mar 2024
"Small and perfect for a romantic weekend. Love the lights on the decking roof."
Verified Guest - Mar 2024
"The lodge is spacious and has everything you want, except basics like a sponge and washing up liquid which is frustrating and feels a bit mean."
Verified Guest - Mar 2024
"We had an amazing time, the lodge was beautiful and well equipped for cooking. Beautiful location, close to little cute villages like Bakewell, 100% would recommend. Would recommend for a family or a group of friends. FYI they don't have dishwasher tabs / sponges / washing up liquid but there is an Aldi near by."
Annabel - Mar 2024
"This place is perfect for a break. The attention to details is great the lodge has everything you need. The appliances are all of quality. The heating was at our control and was very appreciated ???? as it was cold out. But we still used our hot tub, my husband loved it. This was checked every day by a member of staff. We had an issue with our door locking and the guy was waiting as we returned to the lodge and fixed it within 10 minutes of us reporting it. We will definitely be going back. A great find in beautiful surroundings. Dawin does great customer service."
Maureen - Mar 2024
"Very good stay, very polite staff."
Robert - Feb 2024
"Great short break, hot tub in lodge a nice extra. good walks close by. On site bar/restaurant good value for money. Local attractions towns withing easy walking /driving distance."
Martyn Thompson - Feb 2024
"Bed was really comfortable, and the table and chairs were brilliant for 2 people!"
Kelsie - Feb 2024
"No hot tub even though advertised as having one."
Verified Guest - Jan 2024
"I visited Rivendale Lodge Retreat with a group of friends for a weekend escape. We booked in January so that we had something to look forward to after Christmas, which meant that the price was very reasonable. There were 7 of us staying in 4 rooms (2 double, 2 twin) and everything was perfect. Every part of the lodge has been carefully thought out to make the most of the space. The living area was cosy and perfect for feasting and then snuggling up on the sofas. We spent every moment that we could in the hot tub, which was clean and a good size (cosy but there were quite a few of us!) - we never wanted to get out. We hired robes from reception (£5 + £5 deposit). There was parking just outside the lodge but its worth knowing that shopping deliveries can only go as far as reception. One day we went out for a walk to nearby Parwich and had a great meal at the Sycamore Inn (definitely recommend) and then headed to Chatsworth (20 mins away) after checking out. We probably would have been happy to stay in the lodge all weekend though! Were hoping to make the visit an annual event!"
Katy - Jan 2024
"Perfect family week . The lodge was spotless the grounds perfect and the staff were amazing !!! Would definitely recommend and would love to return"
Rachel - Aug 2022
"Bakewell Lodge had all facilities of home, really clean. Had a great holiday, would recommend it to family and friends. Will come back."
Christine - Aug 2022
"We loved the holiday it was fab, the only downside was in the lodge the oven /microwave was to high up in lodge 30 and it was a bit dangerous as I at to stand on a chair to get the hot food out"
Susan - Aug 2022
"We stayed 4 nights in the Buxton and thoroughly enjoyed our visit. Great location, central to all the places we wanted to see. Lodges are well placed on the site, deck was secluded and peaceful."
Mel - Aug 2022
"Stunning Lodge which was well equipped and modern. Beautiful surroundings. Staff so so helpful, nothing too much trouble, which really helped after a long car journey with our two young children. Would highly recommend for anyone looking for lovely quality modern accommodation, in a peaceful tranquil setting, with helpful staff. The only reason it didn't all receive a 10/10 was because mobile reception was quite poor from the lodge (likely due to the locations/hills/rural setting) and there was no pool or park or other facilities for children (perhaps why it was so peaceful!)."
Kathryn - Aug 2022
"We stayed in the Tissington Treehouse and found it absolutely perfect, it was spotlessly clean, comfortable and surprisingly spacious. Treats and a prezzie for our dog was a fabulous touch, being crazy dog people this really was a lovely gesture."
Jorgen - Aug 2022
"Had a fantastic holiday, management and staff were amazing. Close to different places of interest. Would definitely recommend"
Joanne - Aug 2022
"Very nice lodges, good grounds. We noticed a lack of facilities for kids, no play area, no green space to kick a ball etc. Also lacking walks for dogs local to the cabins crossing the road to the Tissington Trail was challenging, would be better in the local council installed footpaths either side of the A515. I am sure the site can push this issue."
Jon - Aug 2022
"Beautiful lodge, we loved our stay. Reception staff very helpful. Restaurant staff there was some room for improvement. We will definitely visit again."
Kylie - Aug 2022
"The lodge we has was beautiful. It faced away from the other lodges and looked out at the hedges and pool which was so peaceful and relaxing. The dog wash is a fabulous facility. We love that the area between and around lodges has been kept wild and we saw a great many birds which was fabulous and so peaceful and relaxing. The hot tub was checked twice a day and it was amazing! The lodge itself was very clean and all facilities fabulous - the only mark down is that the car park space for our lodge was quite a long walk from the lodge itself and the light in the dog wash only stayed on for about 30 seconds. Otherwise idyllic and perfect - we will be going back."
Janet - Aug 2022
"Beautiful lodge, with comfy beds and great facilities."
Carley - Aug 2022
"Had a lovely stay! Lodge was very spacious, clean and facilities were very good."
Carol - Jul 2022
"Wonderful staff and great food. Very welcoming."

Heights of Abraham - DE4 3PT

This unique attraction combines an array of activities.  If you have a look on their website there are some good video clips which give an even better idea of what this attraction is all about.  Some of the highlights include the Cable Car system which is actually Britain's first alpine style cable car system.  You are transported from the valley floor right up above where you can enjoy superb Dewent Valley Views.  You can also stroll around 60 acres of wooded hillside on foot to see an array of birds and wildlife.

The site is rather unique and features a huge array of rides including log flumes, roller coasters and pirate ships. Of course you can't mention attractions in Staffordshire without featuring the fabulous Alton Towers theme park.  The rides range from thrilling to quite simply terrifying although there are more gentle family rides for the little ones.  All ages are catered for here.  Some of the most famoue rides include Th13teen, Air, The Blade and Nemesis.  There is also a waterpark on site for some splashtastic fun. Look out for seasonal events taking place throughout the year such as Wonderful Winter, Pirate Weekend and The Ultimate Fireworks Event.  Check out their website for the latest admission costs and save money by booking your tickets online.
Denby Visitor Centre - DE5 8NX
about 15 Miles

Crazy Crocodiles Indoor Play & Party Centre - LL30 1DR
about 20 Miles
This is an all weather attraction located in Ilkeston Derbyshire.  With a large play frame as well as bikes and ride on toys this is a fun place for young children.  The toddler time sessions take place during term times on week days from 9.30am until 2.30pm and are very popular. The admission fee is excellent value for money and parents can sit down and enjoy a drink while the children play. A new baby changing facility has now been installed together with some new chairs making this a clean and welcoming attraction for families.  Look out for offers on their website such as a free hot drink on select days.
British Wildlife Rescue Centre - TN8 7AR
about 20 Miles
This is a really unique opportunity to see the fantastic work going on at this centre.  The purpose of the British Wildlife Rescue Centre is to treat and care for injured wildlife which cannot be released into the wild.  Many of the animals are brought to the centre by members of the public or the RSPCA.  Visit their website to see the picture gallery and to find out how to help if this is something which interests you.  There are also regular fundraising events such as the Sponsered Leg Wax.
Rosliston Forestry Centre - DE12 8JX
about 24 Miles
Rosliston Forestry Centre is a beautiful woodland site with tranquil areas for Fishing as well as some beautiful meadows and a lake. For children there is a Play Area to run around on and during school holidays organised activities such as range led walks are available. Ash End House Childrens Farm -
about 36 Miles
With family fun for everyone a trip to this farm makes a memorable day out in Staffordshire.  Some highlights of the day might include the chicks and ducklings in a basket, goat kid walking, bottle feeding the lambs or bunny brushing.  Located in the Tamworth area of Stafforshire this attraction is easy to get to.  Look out for special events taking place throughout the year including weekend and school holidays when extra activities may be organised.  Don't forget to meet Chirpy while you are there - the extra large chick!
Go Ape Cheshire - WA16 6RW
about 38 Miles
Out of all of the Go Ape! courses the one in Cheshire is the most spread out and it takes staff ten minutes to patrol the site on bike - which gives a good indication of the size of this place.  If you're looking for an adventurous and memorable day out then Go Ape is highly recommended.  Trek through the treetops, swing between the trees and enjoy zip wire rides all as part of your experience.  This attraction opens every day from the end of March to end October and is open on weekends in November.  Go Ape Cheshire is closed every Tuesday except school holidays.
Hoo Farm Animal Kingdom - TF6 6DJ

When you are in need of a rest head for the The Hungry Shepherd Tea Room where you can enjoy a bite to eat and children can burn even more energy in the indoor play area.
