Sun Hill Lodges Reviews

"Really enjoyed our relaxing break"
Emma - Mar 2025
"We really enjoyed our stay at this lodge! The privacy was fantastic and the views truly are stunning. The beds were super comfy and the hot tub was a lovely touch. A couple of tiny cleaning hiccups kept it from a full five stars and the furnishings could use a bit of updating. We also think adding a spotlight over the cooking area and an extra lamp for softer evening lighting would make it even better. Would definitely come back!"
Rachel - Feb 2025
"Great quality and super clean. A sliding door and some kind of cover wouldve made it ideal."
James - Feb 2025
"We had such a lovely stay at Lillie Lodge over New Year! From the moment we arrived, it felt warm and inviting, with a cosy atmosphere that made us feel right at home. The welcome basket was a nice touch - filled with some lovely treats - and having a pint of milk waiting in the fridge was much appreciated. The lodge itself is finished to a very high standard; its spotless and super comfortable. The bed was huge and incredibly comfy, perfect for a good nights sleep. The en suite bathroom is massive, with a walk-in shower, separate WC and even a sauna - what more could you want? We loved stepping out through the doors to our private hot tub, which is undercover, so we enjoyed it rain or shine. The view is stunning, with plenty of far-reaching scenery and the adorable duck pond right outside. Watching the resident ducks was a real highlight - theyre so friendly and we fed them most days. Inside, the lodge stayed warm, but we also used the log burner with plenty of logs supplied - very cosy! We saw racehorses almost daily, which was a lovely surprise. The staff are all very friendly and the lodge was well equipped - plenty of towels, robes, slippers and all the essentials for tea and coffee. The kitchen had everything we needed, even if the fridge was a bit small, it still fit everything comfortably. We loved it so much, weve already booked our return for next New Year!"

"Our Sun Hill Lodges review: Really enjoyed our stay"
Emma - Dec 2024
"Its a bit worn out and not the comfiest anymore, sadly."
Emily Carter - Dec 2024
"We recently spent four nights at Lillie Lodge and honestly, it was pretty lovely. The place has everything we could possibly need and the views are just fantastic - lots of ducks and even a Black Swan came to say hello! Its a shame we couldnt light the log fire since it was a bit too warm, but we did spend a lot of time in the hot tub. The jets could be stronger, but we still loved it. Thanks a lot!"
Alex - Nov 2024
"Really enjoyed the stay, the bedrooms were comfy and the hot tub was fantastic! Cheers!"
Sam - Oct 2024
"We stayed at this lovely lodge recently and honestly, it was perfect for what we needed. The bedrooms were super comfy and the hot tub was a real highlight. The robes and slippers made it feel special. Yes, its remote, but totally worth it!"
Emma Carter - Oct 2024
"We loved the peaceful spot, perfect for a relaxing break, yet easily reached by road. The Alborada was super plush and we made the most of the log burner with plenty of logs provided. Exploring waterfalls, castle ruins and scenic walks was fantastic. Well be back!"
Emma and Lily - Oct 2024
"The hot tub was a real highlight, used every evening and the rooms were stunning with en-suites in each one. Everything we needed was there!"
Emma - Sep 2024
"The lodge felt quite tired and a bit worn out, with patches around the shower. The fridge needed a wipe daily because of a leaking freezer. Not quite what we hoped for."
Emma Carter - Sep 2024
"Good value for money, but lighting could be better."
Emma - Sep 2024
"Great lodge, lovely location, parking for three cars. Highly recommend!"
Emma Clarke - Jul 2024
"Great stay with lovely vibes"
Emily Carter - Jul 2024
"Great vibe, enjoyed every moment here."
Emma Carter - Jun 2024
"Absolutely loved our stay here!"
Emma - Jun 2024
"Weve been to Sun Hill Lodges a few times now and this was our first stay in the Lillie Lodge. The pond really is the highlight - watching the black swans, ducks, ducklings and rabbits in the morning with a cuppa is just lovely. The sauna, though, was a bit of a letdown; its quite cramped and not very comfortable. Still, overall, its a really nice place to unwind and relax."
Emma - Jun 2024
"Weve stayed at these lodges a few times now and honestly, we keep coming back because the location is just stunning. The William lodge was a bit worn in some spots - the cooker knob was burnt and the bathroom bin had a dent - plus, there was some dust under the bedroom furniture, which was a bit disappointing. But honestly, these are small details that dont ruin the stay. Its still a lovely place and were already looking forward to our next visit!"
Amelia Carter - May 2024
"Really enjoyed our stay, the place was perfect for relaxing."
Emma - May 2024
"We've stayed at this lodge twice now and honestly, its a lovely spot. The sauna and hot tub are real highlights, perfect for relaxing. As older folks, we definitely prefer a high-backed chair over the usual low-backed sofas and bucket chairs, which seem to be the modern trend but arent very comfy for us. Most lodges have a big Smeg fridge freezer, but the Lillie only has a small fridge with an ice box, which isnt ideal if you like to stock up on groceries. Since the Lillie is designed for two, it would be great if they replaced the seating with two high-backed leather chairs someday. Overall, Sun Hill Lodges is a fantastic place to stay, whether for a quick getaway or a longer break - we usually stay a week or two and really enjoy it!"
Harriet & James - May 2024
"Honestly, I wasnt planning on leaving a glowing review because I kinda want to keep this spot to ourselves! The log cabins are seriously top-notch - stylishly decorated and super well-equipped, pretty much everything you could want. Were used to bigger places, but honestly, the peace and the stunning views from the massive veranda more than made up for it. Plus, the weather was on our side, which definitely helped! Watching the racehorses gallop past every morning was a real treat. The only tiny thing wed suggest is adding some chicken wire around the fences to make it more dog-friendly, as we were a bit worried about our pup bothering the horses and had to keep her on the lead. But overall, we loved every second here and were already planning to come back soon. Its just so peaceful and beautiful - a real good place!"
Emma - May 2024
"Chilled out and relaxing"
Jordan - May 2024
"We had a lovely stay at Sunhill Lodges again. Its such a peaceful spot, perfect for unwinding away from everything. This time, we tried a different lodge - so many options to pick from! Were already planning to come back later in the year, if theyve got a vacancy because they tend to get booked up quickly. If you enjoy walking, definitely try Leyburn Shawl; the views are absolutely stunning. Thorp Perrow is also worth a visit, such a beautiful arboretum. Highly recommend!"
Rachel - May 2024
"Great spot for wildlife watching, very peaceful and the lodge is just lovely overall."
Emma Carter - Apr 2024
"We had such a lovely time and cant wait to return soon!"
Emma - Apr 2024
"Weve stayed here six times now and honestly, its always been spot on. Cant wait to return in August!"
Emma - Apr 2024
"Weve been coming back to Sunhill Lodges for quite a few visits now and honestly, we just love the place. The location is perfect and the lodges themselves are really good quality. We did notice that some issues we mentioned last year had been sorted out, which was great. However, we also saw that some faults from recent guests were still there when we arrived - like the fridge shelf being loose and broken and the remote for the TV not turning it off. One thing that caught us off guard was that there were no slippers provided with the dressing gowns, which you'd kinda expect in a luxury place. Also, the only cloth we had to clean up was dirty, so we had to throw it away and use our own spray and cloths. Would be nice if they included some cleaning stuff - its a small thing but makes a difference. Thats about the only reason we marked the cost down, as its still a lovely spot to stay. Well definitely book again, dont want to miss out!"
Emma - Apr 2024
"We checked into Sun Hill Lodge around 4:30 pm and found the place open, but there was no one around. There was a note mentioning we should call before 4 if we wanted extra logs, but trying to get hold of someone on Saturday morning was impossible. We ended up having to hunt around for logs ourselves, which was a bit of a pain. The hot tub was tiny, honestly quite cosy with four adults squeezing in, but it did the job. The views from the lodge were absolutely stunning and the local wildlife was a real highlight - so peaceful. The cabin itself was beautifully decorated and equipped with everything we needed. We loved having en-suites and not sharing a bathroom with friends (definitely a bonus!). Plus, a lovely welcome basket was waiting for us with bread, milk and butter, plus a drinks voucher for a local restaurant - shame it was fully booked, though. Overall, a really nice stay!"
Emma - Mar 2024
"Absolutely amazing lodge. Clean and welcoming with easy check in and a basket of little extras waiting for our arrival. Would definitely recommend visiting."
RUSSELL - Aug 2022
"Fantastic relaxing week in the Yorkshire Dales. The cabin was great and the views were stunning. If I lived closer to the Dales and if I was richer I’d go all the time."
Claire - Jul 2022
"This was our 3rd stay at Sunhill Lodges, the lodges are beautiful, if you are looking for a relaxing time away then this is the perfect place, however there are still lots of lovely places to visit close by. I would definitely recommend it to friends and family."
Elaine - Jul 2022
"Beautiful place lodge was gorgeous, only cpl faults dog hair on the sofas and a doggy smell when we arrived, the bed is a king with a super king matress on so slight over hang on one side, lodge was well equipped though and the hot tub amazing would recommend"
Louise - Jul 2022
"Exceptional location in a beautiful part of the country. Panoramic views and hassle free stay."
Pam - Jul 2022
"Great lodge, excellent facilities, no issues at all."
Paul - Jul 2022
"Beautiful surroundings. Hot tub makes the difference"
Paul - Jul 2022
"Been to sunhill four times. Lovely lodge, beautiful location and we will be going again."
Leslie - Jul 2022
"Excellent lodge with lots of amenities. Great location for discovery the Yorkshire dales."
Michael - Jul 2022
"Another fantastic stay at sunhill, staff were really helpful whenever we needed them. Beautiful location and stunning lodge."
Michelle - Jul 2022
"This was our 3rd visit to these luxurious, peaceful lodges with the most beautiful views. We can't wait to book a return visit for next year. We have holidayed in many lodges and these with the location are the best if you are wanting a relaxing break ??"
Vanessa - Jul 2022
"Fantastic location in beautiful surroundings. Lillie Lodge was great, with plenty of space for two, a fabulous bathroom including a sauna, a comfortable bed. The Welcome basket was a lovely thought including a bottle of wine also complimentary QUALITY toiletries and very much appreciated and also hot tub towels provided. Outside area with furniture and a fire pit and gas bbq which came in useful. We were there for hottest two days on record, we sat out at night watching the black swans, ducks/ducklings on the pond and young rabbits chasing each other and the beautiful horses in the field. Also the little wren that has got a nest in the roof of the lodge, a regular visitor to the garden. Only one negative for us was the size of the fridge freezer normal size fridge with small freezer compartment, but to some it may not be an issue. This really is a lovely lodge and would definitely return and recommend to family and friends. Thank you."
Alison - Jul 2022
"4th visit to Sunhill, excellent lodges. Only improvement would be more lodges with secure gardens."
Graham - Jun 2022
