"We had an amazing stay at Whispering Waters a few weeks ago, sorry its taken so long to post our thanks.
Bill, Sue & Bea were amazing hosts. They really know how to look after their guests.
Although our party was not as big as wed planned, we had an amazing, relaxing time in wonderful surroundings.
The welcome basket was a lovely touch, and we thoroughly enjoyed delving into it.
It was well worth the 10 hour drive from Cornwall, and Bills recommendation of the fox hole for our evening meal was spot on! All I can say is try the belly pork - its to die for!!
The lodge was amazing. Every detail has been well thought out and this made for a stress free getaway which we thoroughly enjoyed and went home feeling relaxed and refreshed.
I cant recommend Whispering Waters Lodges enough. If youre looking for a peaceful slice of heaven in wonderful surroundings - you wont regret booking.
Thank you Bill, Sue & Bea for looking after us so well."
Tim - Mar 2020
"Stunning, quiet location & surroundings, comfortable, modern lodge with plenty of amenities. Internet, internet TV, a nice little welcome pack containing milk, bread, tea, coffee, sugar/sweetness etc. Very clean and tidy. A starter pack of logs, kindling and lighters for the log burner. A helpful welcome folder containing EVERYTHING you need to know about the lodge, instructions for everything within and information about the surrounding areas.

The personal touch was the email, sent by Bill, welcoming us and giving us easy to follow directions and instructions for "checking in".

We stayed as a family, 2 adults, 2 children. The kids would have moved in permanently, if it was an option.

Due to the nature of the eco lodges, if you run out of logs it can get chilly, quite quickly at night, in the lounge area. However there are blankets/throws included and it's warm and comfortable when in bed. We only used the log burner on the last night we stayed."

We would fully recommend the lodges and we hope the venture goes well for you Bill.
Kind regards Adam and Wendy"

"Just home from a beautiful long weekend with the family, kids wanted to stay longer! Excellent lodges, good facilities and beautiful location. Our lodge was spotless and felt very private. The dog welcome pack was a lovely touch too. Bill the owner was very helpful."

"We are just back from a lovely relaxing week at Whispering Waters staying in the Otter lodge. The lodge is well equipped and has everything you will need for your stay. Obviously the hot tub is fantastic and we used this every day apart from the day it rained constantly all day. But we made up for that by having a couple of double days a large balcony with a picnic table allows you to sit or eat out if it is warm enough looking out over the river. It also has a wood burning stove which was nice on a coolish autumnal evening. We stayed when the Covid restrictions were getting tightened in the area and unfortunately we never really had a chance to explore the area that we would normally like to do. We did however go up to Beamish, an out door museum near Durham, a short trip into the Head of Steam Railway museum in Darlington and visit to The High Force Waterfall, which was after the day of rain I mentioned earlier so was pretty spectacular. Gainford is a small village , but it does have a local Pub, unfortunately it was closed for refurbishment when we were there. It also has a take a way which we used one night for Fish & Chips, they were really tasty. The lodge is located right next to the River Tees and it you are a fisherman get in contact with Bill prior to your visit and he can give you details on how to fish there. I myself like fly fishing and it is a fantastic stretch right on your doorstep. Their is also a foot path between the lodge and the river, one way towards the village and the other way towards Winston, next village both lovely walks. Bill is a first class host, very helpful, informative and will make sure you have an enjoyable stay."

There is also a cafe and indoor play area for when the weather is not on your side.
Lightwater Valley - HG4 3HT

Situated in the Ripon area of North Yorkshire this popular theme park makes a fantastic day out for the whole family.  The more daring will love the big and thrilling rides such as Raptor Attack, The Ultimate and Trauma Tower.  For the little ones there are some excellent attractions such as Flying Camels, Dodgems and a Magic Wheel.  Toddlers will like the Dragon Boats and the Lightwater Express amongst other things. There are over 40 rides and attractions in total and we think this is excellent value for money too.  If you book your tickets in advance online you can save even more money and beat the queues.
