Landal Piperdam (Piperdam Lodges) Reviews

"Not as good as it usually is needs a bit of attention in a few areas"

"Returning customer to these lodges and have another stay booked. I like the easiness from check in right through to check out. Lodges are clean and well stocked for self catering. Great the hot tubs are enclosed for privacy and for the dogs to roam around without them escaping. Great the lodges can accommodate dogs too. The price of these are lodges are reasonable also. Beds are comfortable, cleaned to a high standard. Friendly staff on site."

"We had the large Braveheart lodge with games room. Unfortunately the condition of accommodation was not good. Floors were filthy as were bottom of curtains in foyer. Hot tap in kitchen not working properly - staff unable to fix. Hot tub not working properly - jets not working. Roulette table filthy and stained. We did complain and received response stating we should have complained re cleanliness to staff at time- yes we should have but I expect accommodation to be right first time! Games room - missing cards, small plastic inadequate roulette wheel (not as advertised) no ball for wheel (we were issued top of salt pot - flat on one side!) and different ball sizes on snooker table - I mean come on!!! Basics!! We were offered 10% off our next stay! Not sure we will be using that. And these lodges are NOT cheap."

"We were in one of the larger lodges, when booking and on arrival we were not told that the balconies were closed off and we had no access to them, this was a feature we wanted when booking. The lodges are still beautiful but looking very tired and in need of a refurb. The location and staff are brilliant cannot fault."

"Overall a good lodge. Just needs some TLC. Spa pool needed attention. Kitchen cutlery and facilities too minimal for number of people who could stay in lodge. 4 glasses in total. Same with cutlery. Crisps down side of cushions on the sofa. Not very good cleaning."

"Booked as a group of 7, 6 adults, 1 child, 1 dog. In a dog friendly lodge with hot tub and sauna for a couple of nights during the week. On arrival the lodge was not cleaned to a high standard, food residue on kitchen cupboards, sticky residue on the floor, covered over by the coffee table. Shower areas could have been cleaner. Hot tub cover was left open. The lodge slept 10 but there were not enough glasses or mugs if there has been 10 persons in the lodge on our visit. Sofas had to be moved to be able to close curtains. Windows clearly had not been cleaned. For those who did not take slippers and wore white socks the socks had to be binned as they were no longer white and would not clean back to white. The shower doors were also falling off and unable to close properly when showering due to this. We made use of the swimming pool which was freezing and changing areas were busy with slippy floors not draining properly. We visited the restaurant where we had been recommended to book however we ended up being the only people there. The food was not great although good for kids. There was only one member of staff seen in the restaurant during our time here. I visited Piperdam a few years ago and my rating has reduced significantly since my last visit. There are a lot better lodge complexes out there, Piperdam need to refresh and repair a few things to bring their standards back up."

"In a hole it wasnt worth the money the boiler was broke so our lodge was cold and with 2 kids it isnt what you want when you pay a lot of money. The only thing that was clean was the bedding and the hot tub also the shower screen was falling off /not clean. I could go on the only good side of this was the staff that helped us when we needed them and assisted us as much as they could but honestly for the money I wouldnt book again"

"it is a beautiful park, but due to the many trees it is very dark in and around the house. the house itself was very sober, almost spartan"

"We booked the eagle spa pet lodge for a milestone birthday (6 adults and 4 children). The lodge was enormous with more than enough room - 5 large bedrooms each with their own en-suite. Unfortunately, for the money they charge, the lodge was very tired both inside and out. Outside, the gutters were packed full of weeds and the down pipes were all hanging off resulting in flooding and very spongy grass areas surrounding the lodge. There was broken glass on the grass area beyond the hot tub which was very concerning! Inside, the laminate was lifting in some of the en-suites, there was damage to the kitchen units and several areas of water damage around the lodge. The dishwasher didnt work and the kitchen drain was blocked. The hot tub didnt work properly with only a quarter of the jets working. Despite reporting this on day one this was not fixed during our stay. We ate in the restaurant on Saturday night and the service was shocking - undercooked meat, long wait time and rude wait staff. The activity barn was great and the staff were very friendly and relaxed. We booked kids in to a few activities and they really enjoyed them. Overall, a nice family break and a great location, but very disappointing quality accommodation despite the high price of the lodge. Could be so much better - get your act together Piperdam!"

"The lodge was great and very spacious. We were all happy in the lodge and with the amenities inside it. We did notice that the carpets were a little dirty upon arrival and the snooker tables felt was patched up with tape which we are fine with. Overall we really liked the lodge and are recommending this place to our friends and families."

"As per previous submission complaint email sent regarding cleanliness, heating issues, drainage, broken locks etc. No toiletries, limited kitchen utensils broken chairs is a small snapshot of all the issues."

"Arrived at reception and they were very helpful, except for the fact that they didn't tell me the gas hob was broken. They promised that it would be replaced that day, which it wasn't, so I didn't have a hob for the first day. There was a thick, black scum around the bottom of the kitchen wall. The grill only had one rail on the side, which didn't make much difference. Because there was no grill pan. The washing machine handle was wobbly so sometimes it wouldn't recognise the door was shut. There were no complementary cleaning products, i.e. dish soap, sponge, shower gel, and only one of the three bathrooms had toilet roll. The door handle on the door leading to the balcony was broken and didn't lock. The tray under the heater in the sauna wasn't emptied and was full of dirty water. There were splash marks on the walls throughout the lodge that could easily be wiped off. We had two babies and their feet were black due to the floor clearly never having been mopped this year. We had to go out and buy cleaning supplies to do it ourselves. In the hot tub, not all the lights worked and only half the jets worked. If you want to use the small arcade games, bring your own change as the reception and bar didn't have any on any of the days.Looking past all that, the lodge looks nice. Good location. The facilities were good: swimming pool, spa, and crazy golf were all good. The hot tubs get checked twice a day, which is good"

"Just back from a 3 night stay at Rainbow Spa Lodge 77 and we loved it. After reading bad reviews online I was a bit worried if we had made the right choice to go here but we went with an open mind and hoped for the best. We were pleasantly surprised as soon as we walked into the lodge, it was lovely, clean and very spacious throughout. Yes, some things are a bit dated and the outdoor area hadn't been cleaned but if you can look past some minor details the place is great. Hot tub and sauna were great. Mobile signal was descent in the lodge too, we are all with o2 and had no complaints. Only bad point would be the restaurant, really wouldn't waste my money there again. Food tasted like it was out of a packet. We will definitely be back."

Brechin Castle Centre - DD9 6RL

So much more than a garden centre this place is ideal for a fun family day out in Angus. The garden centre stocks a huge range of plants, outdoor furniture and gardening equipment and also has a café serving tasty home made meals, cakes and snacks. The site has a large outdoor play area for children an ornamental pond and country park to explore. Halloween and Bonfire night's events are coming up soon. The annual Fireworks Display is really spectacular.

Smoo Cave - IV27 4QB
about 35 Miles
Smoo Cave is a popular attraction which can be enjoyed all year round but visitors should wrap up warm during the winter months.  This spectacular limestone sea-cave in Sutherland is the largest in Britain and is simply spectacular. The cave was formed by a burn that runs down into the rear chamber, as well as erosion caused by the sea. Guests can take the path from the car park which runs right through the cave. Boat trips are available in the summer months and are an excellent way to fully appreciate the cave from all angles.
