About Highland Hot Tub Retreat 1

Located on a farm near the village of Nigg, this lodge is ideally placed for those looking to explore what the Highlands has to offer. Numerous sandy beaches can be found nearby, including Portmahomack and Balintore, and there are plenty of coastal walks and trails in the area. There is also a small seasonal ferry that runs from Nigg to Cromarty, so if you are looking to cut your drive time to the Black Isle and Inverness then it is well worth taking advantage of. The nearby town of Tain is home to Glenmorangie Distillery, as well as a golf course, and further north lies the town of Dornoch with its various cafes, gift shops and must visit beach. The lodge is accessed via the glass entrance door to the front, which leads into an open plan lounge/kitchen/dining area. The focal point of the room is definitely the cosy wood burner in the lounge, where there is also a Smart TV and Bluetooth speaker. Helpfully, binoculars have been provided for when you are keen to do some dolphin spotting from the comfort of the cabin. The dining area consists of a breakfast bar that seats four people and beautifully divides the lounge and kitchen sections. The kitchen itself is compact yet contains everything you could need during your stay, including an electric oven and hob, combi microwave oven, fridge/freezer, coffee machine and dishwasher. A welcome pack is provided for guests, and your dog will not miss out on getting a small gift too. The king size bedroom has been tastefully furnished and decorated, with robes provided for guests. The shower room with WC and washbasin contains toiletries for guests, with nice touches to enhance your stay including an anti mist mirror and automatic light. Outside, the decked garden area contains garden furniture and a firepit, as well as a glorious bubbling hot tub that guests are sure to love. Guests are provided with non glass items for use in the hot tub, so you can enjoy a flute of prosecco whilst you enjoy the spectacular sea views from the tub. Parking for up to two cars is available at the lodge. The cliff edge is some distance away from the property and is fenced off for extra peace of mind, but please ensure dogs are supervised at all times as there is also livestock on the farm all year round. Christine - Jul 2024
that cottage was the most wonderful place we could have imagined and it is not common to watch dolphins from your bed .... the view is just overwhelming . And the owners are very friendly and caring, so we would recommend this place any time.
Stephen - Jun 2024
Everything was as advertised. Excellent holiday home for the week The view and the total lack of any noise other than birds was very refreshing. Will return next year

We had probably the best holiday we've ever been on, hands down. We stayed in Shandwick over the weekend of march 15th. The cottage was absolutely immaculate, perfectly equipped with everything we could have required for a lovely holiday. The location is genuinly perfection with so many great walking routes and places to explore. I met Les, the ownRead moreer, on arrival and she was so lovely and accommodating (apologies I was just off a long journey and probably came accross as a bit crabbit). Perfect. Hide

Thomas - Sep 2023
OK for 2 people looking for an ideal location but a little short of comfort luxuries as we are a bit older and need a bit more comfort
Kevin - Sep 2023
Everything about this property and its location are fabulous. The accommodation is finished to a very high specification and has all you need. The views out over the sea are magnificent and even just watching the weather move across the land and sea is entertaining. The tranquility of the location is perfect. Absolute peace and quiet. Yet, despite Read morethe feeling of isolation, you are a short drive from all amenities. All in all, the perfect getaway. Hide
Kathryn - Sep 2023
Bed was comfortable, and was great that a travel cot was provided (with extra mattress) as saved so much space in car and having a highchair. Views were just amazing and hot tub was great, it was a lovely clean pod and definitely well looked after. Pod was very spacious, plenty of room for a weeks stay. although the rug was very dog hairy. the pod Read morewas well equipped had everything we needed. plus robes were provided which is fabulous and all your toiletries for bathroom and kitchen so perfect Hide

John - Apr 2023
The cottage (pod) was fantastic, very well equipped in the most amazing setting looking out to sea. Whilst at Castlecraig, we were privileged to see the Dolphins a magical experience.
Neil - Apr 2023
An absolutely splendid 'cottage' and hot tub. Everything was as described or even better. The central heating was freely useable and changes to both temp and timings were easily made. The site was extremely quiet and one wouldn't guess we were on a working farm. There was ample parking, bed linen and deck furniture and if your are in the mood a sma ll fire pit/ BBQ. The bed was more comfortable than ours at home! A big thanks to Les our host, she was so kind and friendly, nothing too much trouble
Iain - Apr 2023
Well presented accommodation in a beautiful location. Views are stunning. Everything you need is there. Hot tub was amazing to sit in, in all weathers and look at the view. Had a great relaxing week with my wife, going for long walks with the dogs and seeing the local sights etc. ( Dogs loved it to) Would highly recommend if you would like a relaxi ng break in a stunning part of the world. Everything was as expected, first class location very relaxing and would have no problem recommending Castle Craigs Cliff tops to anyone looking for a well earned break.Paul
Ian - Feb 2023
This accommodation was amazing. We arrived after a long trip and were delighted by everything. The Welcome Pack was lovely and the supplies really useful and, although just there to tide us over, lasted our stay. The view from the hot tub was breathtaking and the gun turrets left from the wars was fascinating - well worth a walk around. The surroun ding area is gorgeous. The only baaaad thing was trying to pass escaped sheep on the way out. I've discovered I am not a shepherd. lol
Jo - Feb 2023
Oh my goodness, where to start. It was just amazing, the pod, the views, the hospitality of the owner, it was all just more than I could have hoped for, for a Birthday week away. We saw 4 dolphins on our first and last morning between 7:30-9am from the pod, the hot tub was lovely and warm for our arrival, all 4 pods are nicely spaced and feel priva te, the walk from the pod to the ww2 emplacements was also lovely and there are 2 fields of deer a mile or so away. Just fantastic is all i can say!
Kevin - Jan 2023
Stunning view and scenery. The hosts are really welcoming and friendly and go out of their way to see that you have everything you need. We had a great holiday here.
Neal - Jan 2023
I cannot recommend this place enough. If you're looking for a relaxing time, with an outstanding view of the North Sea, then you can't go wrong here. Sitting in the hot tub in the evening, looking at the stars and unwinding. Close to Tain town to grab supplies and less than an hour away from Inverness if you need something a bit more lively.
Joshua - Dec 2022
Super location, Super views. Amazing New Year break.
Kirsty - Nov 2022
We had a fantastic week for my husbands 50th birthday there is lots of places to visit or you can just relax and take in the beautiful scenery. These are Beautiful cabins and lots off things provided like tea coffee and lots more. We even managed to arrange balloons and banners for when we got there witch was a lovely spruce. I would definitely go back.
Chris - Nov 2022
Fabulous location, superb accommodation, excellent facilities and fantastic views. Plenty of local beaches and forest walks, with stunning lighthouses and nearby distilleries to visit. After a relaxing day out and about is there a better way to spend the evening than in a hot-tub overlooking the moonlit Moray Firth. Great hosts who are available if you need them but are not intrusive. What more could you ask for?
Rachel - Oct 2022
Castlecraig is such a special place to stay at, on the cliff edge, overlooking the firth with incredible views & amazing sunrises. The location is great with lots of amenities 20 mins away. Our cabin was not overlooked by anyone & the interior was really well done, with everything we needed, plus lots of lovely touches. The hot tub is excellent, ju st what was needed after a days walking. Cherry on top is the dolphins that you can spot from the cliff edge at certain times of day.
Rhobbie - Oct 2022
This was a wonderful accommodation with outstanding views. The staff were great there in a moment if something was needed. Great location for our little minimoon with our little puppy. Only downside was we never saw any dolphins so will need to come back. 10 out of 10 recommend to a friend
JOANNE - Sep 2022
Just perfect! Perfect accommodation in the perfect location.
Hazel - Aug 2022
Great accommodation in a wonderful setting! Great views and close to lots of wonderful walks and beaches. Les was great and couldn't do enough for our comfort.
Cath - Jul 2022
Amazing Outstanding Wonderful absolutely Epic is what these lodges are ! Peaceful and calm is how you feel within minutes of being there ! We honestly cant wait too come back !
Andy - Jul 2022
An absolutely stunning location! The pod was spacious, light and luxurious. Having a hot tub in the deck overlooking the Moray Firth was the icing in the cake. We would highly recommend Castlecraig Clifftops to anyone wishing to have a quiet getaway break. A good base for exploring this part of Scotland.
John - Jul 2022
Pretty much all you need. The host is very nice and accommodating. Beautiful views nice hot tub would probably book again .

The cabin was amazing, compact and bijou. Perfect for a couple. Views are stunning of the North Sea coast. Lovely farm to explore. Will definitely return.
Vanessa - May 2022
We had the most fantastic holiday here in such a beautiful location, watching the dolphins every day from our balcony. The hot tub was such a treat, being ready to use every day. Les was an amazing host, nothing was too much trouble. We visited all the recommended destinations in the welcome letter and enjoyed each day. Would definitely recommend, such a great location to explore the east coast. Our dogs enjoyed the large grassy area and snuggled up by the log burner each night.
Christina - May 2022
Absolutely beautiful cabin, very clean and new feeling. Welcome basket was very much appreciated. Views from decking and inside cabin were gorgeous, saw dolphins most days. Very private area, other cabins didn't feel close at all and windbreak/privacy screen attached for hot tub. Visited various beaches and walks nearby by car, very dog friendly, c lean and beautiful. We don't tend to go to places more than once but highly recommended to friends and would definitely stay again.
