Writers retreat was very quirky and comfortable in a fabulous setting right on the rivers edge and shore of Loch Ewe. A lovely location with everything needed for a relaxing quiet break. The separate kitchen cabin was quirky and well equipped. The hot tub was great. The property is in the grounds of Pool House, which is well worth the house tour they do and the cafe there is also very good. The surrounding area is simply stunning.

We arrived at 4 pm and a lovely Varie showed us to our property. It was stunning as was the situation, beside a river and at the end of Loch Ewe. Saw an otter and a seal first night! During our fortnight we had rain most days: even the locals said it is not usually so bad at that time of year. We drove out most days and often found drier weather. It had a quirky kitchen which I soon got used to. The cottage itself was very comfortable and my favourite spot was sitting at a table in front of Loch Ewe, watching all the wild-life whilst having a cup of tea/glass of wine. I saw lots of different birds and also an otter.

The accommodation is absolutely beautiful, clean, modern but still cosy. Thankyou for a great Poolewe stay. We really enjoyed staying at The Writer's Retreat- a beautiful setting on the banks of Loch Ewe. The cottage was very clean and well appointed. Liz, the owner, was welcoming and helpful. The Writer's Retreat is a delightful place to stay while enjoying the Scottish northwest area.

A stunningly beautiful setting by river Ewe and looking out directly on loch Ewe. A comfortable and warm cottage. Cooking and eating in a quirky shepard's hut was fun and cosy. The garden spa hot tub was a big bonus and very relaxing. A spacious cottage with a large bed and huge bathroom which made it feel luxurious. With some small improvements it would rate as a 5 star.

For my 3 months stay in Scotland, Poolewe and the Writers Retreat was one of my absolutely high lights. I spent two weeks in this adorable house and after leaving it behind, all I wanted was to go back! There is not much to do yes, but that was exactly what I was looking for. It is a retreat. It is quiet. The house and kitchen are with so much love decorated. And after a long walk through forests and over moorelands it is fantastic to end up in the well heated hot tub. I will come back!
